I just had laser surgery / procedure done today since I had lattice in both eyes (worse in my left) with pockets of fluid building up and holes. If I ever had to do it again I would. It’s not 100% pain free, but they do numb your eyes before and you only feel pressure. I would explain the pressure to feel like migraine pressure (minus the actual neurological pain that comes alone with a migraine) behind the eyes. The procedure took all of 5-10mins. You see a lot of flashing lights, feel pressure where the laser hits. But is it “painful” no. You also have your vision go dark/ black for maybe a minute if that and when you start to regain vision it’s pink to start. But it came back quickly. Maybe 1-2 minutes after it was all done? The technician was explaining to me how well the procedure went and by the time they were done talking I could see (as well as I could see with dilation drops still active in my eyes) I would suggest to bring Advil and Tylenol for post procedure discomfort. I have a high pain tolerance but felt the pressure coming on as the numbing started to wear off and laid down for maybe an hour and now I feel 100% fine. The symptoms I was having was progressively worse floaters in my eyes. Especially within the past 2-3 months I found them to be bad and they were messing with my vision. Making me feel like I was seeing things like fruit flies… where there wasn’t. Now I have zero floaters! I was told I wouldn’t need to go back for now although there are a bit of lattice left but to just keep seeing my optometrist and if I need to go back it would be another quick procedure like this But it totally beats having a retinal detachment! Love that there is a quick and nearly painless procedure available as preventative measure available
