You have to watch the 2022 Billboard Music Award for their Live performance of Love’s Train. You wont be sorry. Bruno and Anderson met when Anderson opened for his 24K Magic Tour in 2017. On the tour they hung out and found they listened to the same music from back in the day and became good friends just having fun. Smoking Out the Window was the first song they started writing on that tour but it wasn’t finished until years later when Bruno called Anderson on his birthday and told him to come over and work on the song, (Anderson was drunk)😅 but he came and they kept on bouncing ideas off each other and An Evening with Silk Sonic is the result.
Con Funk Shun's version is different because they used synthesizers that became popular in the 80's, while Silk Sonic used horns to imitate the the 70's sound. Both versions are excellent and the original writers of the song have met with Silk Sonic after their Vegas show and were truly honored that they had picked Con Funk Shun's song to cover.
Anderson was the opening act for the European leg of Bruno’s 24K Magic tour and he started hanging out in studios with Bruno during that time. They started working on Smoking Out The Window, but didn’t get together again until the Covid lockdown when they couldn’t tour. That’s when they decided to do an album together.
Dudes, It's so F'in good! I have to stand the f up when I play it. The comment below me mentions the music awards; that version is worth the watch. So dope!!
With the fact that legendary Bootsy Collins had a HUGE hand in this project explains EVERYTHING. And i am totally here for it all. This album will go down in history of music as one of the greatest albums ever made.
They released 'After Last Night' as a single in July, but it was mostly heard on urban radio stations. It was #1 on Billboard's Adult R & B Airplay. 'Love's Train' was #1 for over 16 weeks on the same chart.
Loved your reactions to this great cover by Silk Sonic. I agree with everyone who said you need to find and react to their live performance of this on the Billboard Award show. Throw in the set, their look, The Temptations-like choreo, the fantastic live vocals and you'll understand why. I'd love to see you come back with a reaction video to the live. Oh...p.s. Question. Have you guys only heard and reacted to three songs off their album? If so, you have five more amazing songs to go!! There's more contenders for your "favorite" spot.
I have heard this before. I like it! But Skate and Smokin' Out the Window are still my favorites! (Memorized the Smokin' Out the Window dance) But this whole album just has the "Old School" vibe. There really isn't a stinker in the bunch. But live Bruno Mars!!! His live performances are always good. From what i see on shows. (Superbowl, Grammys, etc) Would love to see him/Silk Sonic live!!!
I'm so happy you guys love old school r&b. It's my favorite! Keep em coming. Have you reacted to or reviewed Earth Wind & fire? They are the best R&B. Well, there's so many others that are incredible. Let's Groove is probably my favorite by ewf.
I loved your reactions. You guys put smiles on my face watching the three of you react to this. You guys really should watch their Billboard performance. They got down. Yes yes yes ! You all should react to the original song. I also have a request for you all to Put on a smile by Silk Sonic.
This song is basted on a true story it about two of the members of confunkshun who were both seeing the same women they told the story on there episode of the show unsung
Dudes, I really like Your enthusiasm for music but it's hard to believe that You still have not covered anything about The Grateful Dead. Which is, without any doubt, the best live band EVER. The reason is quite simple: they improvised always. And not only they improvised the songs, they improvised the concerts. Let me explain: each band, when it goes on a tour, has prepared a "set list", the order in which each song will be played. So basically a band rehearse the set list that they will play during the tour. This is the reason why each show is ALWAYS identical, except, maybe, the encore. The band, any band, prepares a set list of 15-20 songs, they rehearse only them and there You have it. Got it? Cool ;) The Grateful Dead played 2.364 concerts and each "set list" is different: no two show are identical, reason being... they did not have a set list. They improvised it. Which means that in each tour You could expect to listen to almost 100 songs. And of course, they improvised even during the song. Greetings from an italian "Deadhead" (yes, deadheads are everywhere). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadhead
Yes, please react to ConFunkShun's live performance on Soul Train. Honestly, I love both renditions. ConFunkShun has quite a few amazing songs. They were/are very popular. Some of the guys from the band heard about the cover & they loved it! They're going to do a silk sonic cover. I can't wait to hear that. I would lose my mind if they performed it together.

Great song. Great reaction. Bruno Mars rules!
This awesome group in my opinion is the '20's version of Earth, Wind & Fire. Love them man!

I saw Silk Sonic back in March at Park MGM in Las Vegas ! Best concert I’ve ever been to !

I loved Con Funk Shun’s funkier version in the 80’s and I love this smoother-sounding version too! It’s very cool that they did this cover!
Confunkshun was great and the original version is really good

The release of this song was on the 40th anniversary of the original.
My God in heaven, run that back😂
Quero ver a reação da apresentação no ao vivo ... foi demais ...😊😏
If you think this song is great, listen to 'Put On A Smile'. It's the best vocal performances of Anderson and Bruno that you've ever heard.
You guys should react to the original too - you'd love it!
Great video! Nice stankface, Nick. "My God in Heaven, run that back!"
listen to the original also...both are great

Need to play Strawberry letter 22 from the Brothers Johnson.

Check out the original. Really cool 😎
You do know this is a cover of the original song by Con Funk Shun
Yup, acknowledged in the intro
Have you done any BeeGees? You can't sing much higher than Barry Gibb.
PS If You ever decide to cover Grateful Dead, be prepared to receive comments from thousands of Deadheads.
How can you chat about music and you’ve never heard of Con funk Shun Wow !
