It was 4 deg F this morning here in CT or -15.55556 deg C. It's late winter. Going to see Temps in the '50s by week's end. For you guys, it is late summer and fall the best time of the year in my opinion. I like that stream, streams that size or smaller is what I cut my teeth on. I did manage to catch two little brook trout last Sunday. It was cold and had a bit of wind. but well wetting a fly line makes it worth it even though as an old man the cold gets to me more than it did go I was younger. The little Black Stone Flies are getting active and well its first big "fly" hatch of the season. So I have been tying those. In about three more weeks. Nymphs are working, those to brookies took the nymph!
Couple of legends- I kept waiting for the staged riverside wrestling match over a lost fish. Next time!

I have fished that river before and i tell you those fish are impossible to catch in low summer flows. I am surprised of how well you guys did considering the amount of guides that hammer that river, maybe the high flows made the fish less wary. Well done.

Hi Alex, we fished the big T last week and got just the right weather before the cyclone hit. Monday to Friday, overcast, slight drizzle and no wind, great. We kept our arms, hands heads and faces covered and sun block on exposed face areas. Yet I got some serious sun burn to my bottom lip (top lip was OK as shaded by moustache) and tip of nose. Is it worth covering up even when there is no sun visible? You bet your cancerous skin it is, be aware, be very aware. NZ sun can kill you!! Cheers mate. Harera

You are allowed but there just aren’t enough fish in those fisheries to sustain people taking fish. They are the breeding fish and if people kill them, very soon there’s no fishery left
The fish are lucky the true experts aren't allowed in to teach em what a sore lip feels like, let alone how to drive on the right side of the road.. Yeah, we got it figured.
