Thank you, Nick for all your very informative videos. I’ve just bought a Mercedes C class and would not have been able to navigate my way around the features by using just the manual. You are so clear and concise and easy to follow. A big thank you from Warwick 🙏 Jess
That was one of the most informative videos yet. I have learnt so much bout my Merc from these videos that I could not get just from trawling thru the long winded manuals! Thanks Nick.
Thanks for the video Nick, been waiting for this video for some time. Actually one more thing that I have to add for command commands is “turn off air conditioning” and “turn on air conditioning “. It works as well. But it doesn’t work if you wanna change the air conditioning temperature.
Informative video as always Nick!! In addition to those commands in ur video, I'd like to share these commands which my E class has got. U can turn on/off reading lights by saying reading light (left/right side, rear) on/off, and u can also ask the car time, date, outside temperature and average fuel consumption just by saying it. Also u can do a bunch of things on climate control; setting to a certain temperature or lowering or raising it, and adjusting air freshener level and turning ionization on/off, etc. Basically u can ask the car to do almost every single thing u can do with the infotainment with reading lights on/off, time, date, outside temp thingy being additional ones and that's where I feel like my E class has lived up to the best or nothing slogan. Thanks and keep up the good work Nick!!
Thanks Aung Thaung Htike! Glad you enjoyed the video! I’ll keep them coming each week! Thanks for sharing the other commands, there are so many that you can do!
Glad that you shared and mentioned this commands. For the air conditioning temperature when saying commands it just hits on its highest or lowest level . And btw what’s the actual command for switching on and off the back seat lighting ?
@@wanyongchen944 Not sure if it's got to do with MY but my car is MY 2020. And in my car, for rear seats lighting u would have to say rear seats light on/off. For temperature just say temperature 17° and the car will set the temperature to 17° on driver's side given that SYNC isn't on. If u want to set a certain temperature on passenger side, say temperature left/right side 16° and the car will set the temperature to 16° on that side and the same thing goes for rear climate as well (if u have 3 climate zones), all u have to do is just saying temperature rear 18°, 17°, etc. U can also raise or lower temperature by saying temperature warmer or cooler. I hope this helps. Thanks.
Thanks Nick for the very useful and informative videos every week. As I am considering to buy the new C class or the new GLC in 2023, one of things that worries me is the difficult monitoring of the volume digital button, (rather a physical button)and the temperature of the central screen (as the temperature in Cyprus reach 40 to 43 degrees centigrade) I know that we can use the voice command for the volume.
Thanks Coastas! Glad you’re enjoying the videos! There’s a volume touch control on the right which is “technically” touch which you can swipe but you can also press it too to go up in stages. I’m sure Mercedes have tested that with car interiors often exceeding that on a hot day anyway 👍🏼
Hi Nick, We all appreciate your videos it allows us to understand how wonderful owning a Mercedes can be. I have a C200 2019 too early for MBUX but I do wonder if it's possible to program my Nav by What3words?
Great video Nick, but in the three years of ownership of my 2018 GLA45 the voice command for navigation have been nothing but frustration. Rarely do I know a postcode, but I have a road name or the description of the company/restaurant/hospital for my destination and wow is it useless at interpreting any of those. So for navigation I find it less than useful… I’ve never tried it for radio (Wave 105 listener here 👍🏻), I might give that go later. But to end on a positive Apple CarPlay is fantastic! Truly for navigation voice commands you can just tell it has the full power of Apple’s iOS working so effectively on your behalf. Navigation is perfect using that system. (Edited) and I’ll certainly be trying the long push on the voice button to activate Siri if I haven’t got the CarPlay physically plugged in. To be honest that’s the only thing needed to make the car perfect: wireless Apple CarPlay and radar guided cruise control. Then I’ll never need to change it 🤓🤓
Ah they’ve changed a little since that one. I know the one you mean 🤓 But yes you’re absolutely right, any voice assistant that has internet access will always be more accurate 😎
On Mercedes COMAND you can change the language on the screen but I’m not sure that it changes the voice when it talks to you. Check under something like: HOME SYSTEM LANGUAGE And if it’s been set to the wrong language and you’re struggling to put it back: Press the HOME symbol Far right menu Then look for the option with the world 🌎 Hope that helps!
Ah I always have my windows closed stops any exterior noise. It’s usually pretty good at isolating your voice 🤓 I’ve found too from experience if you speak slower it works better too. I used to talk to it too fast!
It depends if it was spec’d at factory. Not all cars have that capability although MBUX is quite clever, if it didn’t have it you can retro install it via a software upgrade via the Mercedes me Store. When it’s running, it runs like an App in MBUX and in COMAND
Hi Nick, i have purchased a 2022 cla 180 it has been just over a month and has been fine but recently when i start the car with ac on it is revving higher and i can hear the engine more than before. It has only done 1600 miles. When i first got the car and had the ac on i couldnt hear anything. Thanks
Hey Mohammed, ooo very nice a CLA 🤓 would love one of those! It’s perfectly normal for a car to rev slightly higher under load due to the increased ambient temperature we’ve had recently however sadly I’ve never worked on them from a technical point of view so wouldn’t know any more than that. So if you are worried about something, best to get it checked out by someone, Mercedes dealerships of course have technicians who can give it a once over just to be sure 🤓
Hey mikeadams2709, sadly not had access to cars from 2014 as only started my channel in 2020. My local Mercedes usually only has cars from the past few years. There will probably be of course the HOLD feature on the brake pedal (pressing firmly while stationary), holding the mute button will do traffic announcements on the radio and possibly holding the recirculation button might shut all of the windows.
Hi Nick - I’m referring to one of your previous videos on the MB Dash Cam. I have a 2021 A250e Prem Plus bought new from MB Poole, in fact you handed the car over to me (a memorable day !) - the car came with the augmented navigation ‘chip’ missing and after waiting a year this has now been supplied and fitted to the car today at MB Salisbury. So, I have MBUX on my car and now also the augmented navigation camera (all working correctly) but when I sign onto my Mercedes Me a/c and the Mercedes Shop (as per instructions in your video) there is no Dash Cam upgrade to purchase & MB Salisbury tell me that this is because the D/Cam facility is NOT available on the A Class vehicles ! Is this the case or am I being fed misleading information (seems strange, as the latest A Class cars were the first to be fitted with MBUX). Are you able to confirm that this is the case and the D/Cam feature can’t be fitted to A Class vehicles - I would rather hear it from the horse’s mouth !! Regards & keep up the great videos Nick, Roger

@@npoleary Hi again Nick - Ok, I've now bought the 'Dash Cam' package through Mercedes Me and am connected up with 64gb Sandisk memory stick and USB/C 'dongle' - all seems to work ok with the video recording and red light on. However, (question) - do I need something else to play the recording back - I've plugged the memory stick into my computer and although it's recognised, it won't play back the footage - am I doing something wrong - any suggestions ?
Hey Roger, it depends on codecs of your computer 🤓 I did put in the UA-cam video description on what to do if it doesn’t natively play, here it is: PLAYBACK ON COMPUTER To enable playback on your computer, you may need to convert the file format from .mp4 to .mov. We've had voice control on our mobile phones for years but how many.of us use it? Very very few I guess... and if that's true then why would we talk to our cars? Sometimes, the "legacy" ways are the best. Buttons for volume, blower speed and temp control is all you need. Simples.
I guess it just means you don’t have to take your eyes off the road, you can talk to it while keeping an eye on everything in front of you 🤓 But yes, switches are right there in case you need them 👍🏼 I use it for mainly accessing things that are more than a few clicks away, like phoning someone in the phonebook
