Myself and 4 radio hams stayed in this lighthouse on 5 different occasions, such a great place, first time about 38 yrs ago,we got to Lundy with all our equipment on an Icebreaker Polar Bear, used in those days to get provisions to Lundy.
Hi 👋 Lundy is one of those places you keep returning too. I will be going again in February, and that will be my 6th time. I have been inside The Quarters, but not the other two. I will be staying in the Radio Room and the Old School House next time. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Just awesome. I'm planning to book in February and deciding whether to go the whole hog and book Tibbets for my first stay, or maybe the radio room. Just a fantastic place.
Hi 👋 Tibbetts is an experience, I have stayed there once, it was great to have stayed there, but it's not one I would go back to. I'm staying in the Radio Room in February. Lundy Island is awesome, when you visit, you'll love it. It's one of those places you keep wanting to return to.
@@urbantiger6540 Wow - that'll be an amazing trip. Out of interest, why do you feel you wouldn't go back to Tibbetts? Is it the lack of electricity or just the fact that you're so far away from the village and the people?
I didn't mind not having electric, I thought the gas lights were pretty cool, and the being on my own was great. I went in middle of December, and it was freezing inside the property, I really didn't like the bathroom, and the beds were so uncomfortable I slept in the living room. But don't let me put you off, it was a good experience, and I don't regret staying there, it is an interesting building.
@urbantiger6540 Thanks for that. I was planning to sleep in the living room with the fire so that's good to know. I'll have a think but I'm still pretty sure I'd love the isolation of Tibbetts and it'll be worth the extra faff keeping the fire burning high. Thanks again.
Great tour. Very beautiful view of the ocean. Would love to tour inside this gem. You’ve been 5 times? Would love to come just once. Thanks for sharing. Have you toured any other lighthouses?
Hi, I'm happy you enjoyed the tour. No, sadly, I haven't been inside any other lighthouses, hopefully I will get to stay in another lighthouse one day.
@@urbantiger6540Belle Tout Lighthouse in Sussex has been converted into a B&B in which you can stay. Unfortunately I’ve only seen it from the outside, but there are spectacular views from the location out to Beachy Head Lighthouse
Hi 👋 I looked up Belle Tout lighthouse and it does look like a great place to stay. It cost between £220 - £250 per night. This looks like a place for a special occasion, and the area looks beautiful too. Thanks for telling me about this lighthouse.

👋 I have been to Lundy 5 times aswell, but only once in the lighthouse. Lundy is one of those places you just want to return to, it's magical.
I've been to Lundy 6 times, first time was 1990. With South Bristol Amateur Radio Club. Stayed in The Barn, Quarters, and Government House.

If you do go in February, I might see you there. I check out of the Radio Room, and straight into the Old School House. I'm staying 11 nights.
