It occurred to me recently that depression and lack of energy are so closely related they're almost the same thing. Ever notice that 'chill-out music' is kinda depressing? Conversely, it's pretty hard to be energized and depressed. So doing things that energize you may be a pathway outta your funk. And that can include optimising your physical health. For instance, some foods lower my energy so much I actually start to feel depressed. Being mentally stimulated also works, the body and mind affecting eachother.
A lot of people love that chill out music. I have found very little that I like, but I don't think I find it depressing. I suffer from ADHD, if suffer is the right word, and I would describe it is unstimulating probably. And to me, stimulating is what music is supposed to be. But depression is a different beast. It is powerful though
Keep in mind, the majority of the USA does this naturally, it's called a "9 to 5 job", which creates its own set of problems. Henry may not know this, but he's in a partial privileged life...he works in the direction where he chooses...the rest of us, don't have that option. (PS: I still regret not seeing BlackFlag in my youth, in early 80s L.A.)

That's exactly what he means. He's always been very open about his mental health and struggles. Fairly certain he used drugs a few times during his teens and early Black Flag days. I know he tried LSD at least once and cannabis as well but knew right away he didn't want to continue.
It's awesome that he doesn't want to do drugs. Weed is definitely medicine but it's not for everyone it helps me be able to do things because of depression and anxiety and pain mostly back but all over. I agree music is a drug because it alters the brain like a drug! Weed + Music helps me with life! I enjoy it more and I can hear every instrument separate yet all at once. Everyone has a thing that gets them by. Caffeine used to do that to me I was heavily addicted now it's a lot but not all the time.
Mr Rollins is of the few public people who I'd appreciate having a chat with and I'd like to think he would to an extent enjoy the interaction with me.

Sorry to sound negative, but he does not suffer from actual REAL depression. When you’re in a deep state of actual depression, getting up off the couch seems like a monumental achievement……. Having the ability to “finish a transcript” or “record an episode of your radio show” is virtually impossible.
Depression isn't a one size fits all. It's on a scale and many people can still function and then one day they decide they've had enough and end it. You see that all the time. Your comment reads like gate keeping and if you went through depression yourself and that was your "version" of it then okay sorry for that. But saying someone isn't depressed because it doesn't fit your view is alarming because all that serves to do is gaslight the person suffering their own version, making them feel unheard.
Most people would relate to a mild or functional depression, so the video is potentially helpful. If you have severe clinical depression, no YT video is gonna get you outta that anyway.
