- At my drum lesson with Alice Cooper's drummer, Glen Sobel he did a killer solo that I recorded.
Here's part of his bio: Drummer Glen Sobel has played in a variety of genres including rock, hip hop, pop, metal, punk, and fusion. Recently, he has played, toured, and/or recorded with gigs ranging from hard rock (Alice Cooper & SIXX A.M. featuring Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue), pop/r&b (tour with ELLIOTT YAMIN- American Idol finalist who had one of the biggest hits of '07 ), instrumental fusion (Glen played on guitar great PAUL GILBERT's new DVD), drum clinic instruction (JAPAN CLINIC TOUR) to studio TV work (Glen plays drums on the new version of the MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL theme on ESPN). I passed all 2020 on my computer because of Covid seeing all drums solo of all drummers on youTube and this f...... one is from far the best one !!

magnificent solo bro, i play drums in the band Paracardium, and i am definetly going to use this as inspiration!
It definitely looks like the video was sped up a little bit towards then end, but if it wasn't then i'd give this performance 5+ Stars.

I think should settle any doubts about who the really skilled and amazing drummers are such as Glen Sobel here, as opposed to the often mentioned heavy metal drummers who have never displayed skills
like this, but only appeal to the juvenile mentality who are easily impressed.

the twirl of the stick while playing is kinda hard
it takes alot of practice
he doesnt really flip it aruond his fingers
if you watch they stay in between two fingers and he moves the joints to make the sticks twirl
doing that inbetween drum beats is the hard part
and the cymbal thing is easy just watch it
This is what almost ever snare player that picks up a drum set sounds like.... and at/around 0:45secs is called a roll. You don't move your wrist only your fingers to bounce the drum stick head.
He has really good posture while he is playing. lol. You don't see that with alot of ppl
A modern MIT type player, clearly the progeny of Bozzio and Donati. But the first thing I think of with someone like this is 'Oh, here's a guy that practices a lot." But that isn't what I thought when I saw Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, Buddy Rich, Keith Moon and Tony Williams. Sobel, like many now, is a machine. And that makes me sad.
This video is not sped up at all man. If you ever have the chance to see Glen at MI or at a gig...you'll believe :)
