I'm from Oregon. Back in the day it was a 6 plant max for medical growing, per card. We used to go from 4 inch pots straight to small kiddy pools. We focused on massive plants. If you go from seed you have a tap root. The roots like to go deep. Clones do not have a tap root. They will do more lateral root growth. That's how we used to do it
I do 1/2 gallon, 3 gallon, then 10 gallon pots. I also veg them for 3 months if not longer in my lower strength lights nursery. I typically yield roughly 3lbs per 4x4 light of solid buds 'no larf' at around 6ft tall. I tried multiple crops with 7 gallon pots and the larger 10 gallon pots definitely contributed to my yeild to make the extra soil worth it.
@Mike-ms6he I'm using 8 Fluence Bioengineering spydr 2i's with 16-4ft uva/b lights in between the light rails. 3 ton mini split, 2 Anden 210 dehumidifiers and 50lb co2 tanks.
@@Mike-ms6he 3 month grow and you can get massive plants, i clone myslef and with 4 plants i fill a 3x3 in 10 day grow "clones are 9 weeks old and super ready to go" i need a better light but right now i'm pulling 12 to 16 oz from a mars hydro 3000 every 10 ish weeks.
I have grown harvests in the past with maximum yield in mind. Ex: 2x5 tent with 2 plants producing 2.5 lbs 32% THC flower. Nowadays, I no longer worry about yield and am only focused on quality. Focusing on quality for me is less stressful than worrying about yield and the end product is always better. I am always happier with less product but better quality.
This last cycle, i grew 34 strains in a 5x5 tent in 1.5 gallon pots. Ill average an ounce a plant. Shortest plant was 28" and the tallest was 58" tall. Its the first time running synganics and running such small pots. Im doing the samething this run as this was the best quality harvest in 15 years that ive been growing. At most i was feeding 500ml of water every 2 days.
If Im growing multiple plants I grow in 3 gallon pots. large plants, 10+ gallon (indoor). PH is more important in smaller pots do to increased waterings and feeds. Growdots are PERFECT for smaller pots. Larger pots = larger plants, but for me its because I stay in veg minimum 7 weeks, and the longer you go, the more sites you produce... =ing more flower. Outdoor I would use 200+ gallon fabric pots. I find that low profile, large circumference are better for larger pots. Cannabis roots don't go super deep, but instead the spread out..
What do you live on concrete 200 + gallon . I've seen those they are absolutely for trees , literal trees haha use the ground brother unless you live in the city , I dig a 3 x3 hole and fill it with soil and you can grow some monsters
if possible make that soil as aerated as possible. The root system of the cannabis plant is fibrous and will look to spread out horizontally instead of vertically. The pots I use are no taller than 18 inches and 24 - 36 inches wide.
That’s how I do mine too Dude. 3” pots to 5 gallons of soil. I am putting 2 plants in each pot. I am using LST on them. I train them around the pot. Once they are wrapped around I level the tops with height of the others. When the stems all start growing up I give a good topping on them all. A week later they go in bloom. I am getting more at harvest then just topping the main cola.
For older bags, wrap the sides with Saran wrap for less humidity. I wrap it and then slid it off and put that's into an empty pot. Then I fill it with soil(or whatever medium). If you leave it wrapped on the outside, mold will form on in between the plastic and the fabric. I haven't had any issue with it when I got that mold. It did make for more washing/scrubbing of the grow bags in between runs.
Transplanting is not only work but also takes shock time up to perhaps a week. I go red solo from seed to right into a 5 gallon home depot buckets and veg 40ish days and off it goes into flower .. I've found no matter how many plants 4,6,or 8 I put into a 4x4 , I almost always get the same yield , 2 lbs give or take .. I also use soil (fox Farms) but never reuse it unless I happen to reveg.
I plant autoflower plants in 7gal fabric pots and they get huge, the roots completely fill the pot. I tried 10gal pots and the roots don't fill the pot completely like they do in 7 gal pots but the plants still get massive for autos. Photos I up pot from a dixie cup to 1gal to 3gal and finally a 5gal pot before they go outside, I don't grow photos indoors anymore as I do a 1 tent perpetual grow with autos indoors.
I’ve tested my dehumidifier water and it says 0 ppm. I still can’t bring myself to use it in the reservoir and I am buying bottled distilled water. It would save me hundreds a year. Maybe I should start using it?

Ive grown a few autos, my last run was cookies gelato from RQS. Advanced nutes. 1 in 1 gallon of coco, 1 dwc in a 5 gallon. Pulled 14 oz dried from the two of them and the dwc was an oz more. Coco was so simple compared to the dwc but for only 1 oz difference, ill stick with the coco.
@ScottyRealDGC it was about 6.5-7 from the 1 gallon of coco. 14 with the other auto in the dwc. I would water once a day for most of flower but the last three weeks i was watering twice a day. I was shocked at the growth but ive had some crazy autos! The one in coco was about 2.5 ft and the dwc was a little bigger.
Wouldn’t transplanting that much cause more stress and shock and more time for recovery? I’ve never been a good soil grower but mastered dwc . Really want to master soil to.

I do not grow autos, but a friend of mine thinks they are triggered to flower when the roots touch the walls of the pot and turn back on themselves. So for auto I would sprout the bean and put it in a big finishing pot. Maybe bro science... I just stick with feminised seeds, no Autos... yet. Love from UK.
I have a bowl trimmer. In my opinion, they are great to speed up the process, but after a few runs, i definitely will be hand trimming my best buds and run the rest through the trimmer. I looked at my buds after running through the bowl with my loupe, and it really does beat the crap out of your trichs. and you for sure lose a little weight, that being said, the time it saves it worth it on the bulk of the plant. Trimming is my least fav part. especially because between work and commute, im putting in 70-80 hours a week at work. I just dont have the time to sit and spend 6 hours trimming.
depends on your grom lol i clone into rockwool two weeks later small pot then they sit there under low light till i'm ready for them about 7 weeks later, then i'm on a 10 day grow to fill a 3x3 with 4 plants, lol there is no repoting time in there really, for me any way
I purchased a 19" trim bowl from Amazon a couple months ago. It works but knocks off a fair amount of trichomes. Nothing stops you from collecting those trichomes from the bowl after.
I understood that distilled water or dehumidifier water was so lacking in minerals and nutes that it actually robs minerals and notes from the soil. Although I suppose if there's no runoff it can't really rob anything. I am still afraid to do it myself, it just seems risky.
I switch back and fourth from photos to autos depending on how much herb I have. 😂 I use 5-7 gallons for autos. It is very hard to calculate how big the autos is gonna be depending on if it has indica or sativa characteristics while growing. Fat leaves tend to be smaller, skinnier tend to get tall as hell. Around 4-6 ft tall. Cheers DGC
Tip for any small teepee growers out there that do t want more then one 2 plants but want quantity I’d recommend a city picker as it’s square vs earthboxes so it has more room to root out set it flat on the floor (ontop of plastic or some kind of tray) this way your as close to the ground as possible for height reasons and do your normal training light choice is upto you but this is possibly the perfect setup for a 3x3 or 4x4
I'm on my 2nd scrog grow. Went from 3 gallon pots to 5 gallon buckets this time. Big difference in size. Much better looking plants and easier to manage watering
I used to transplant 2 or 3 times before harvest but switched to planting in "Forever pots"(no transplanting needed). Transplant = shock to the plant. What has helped is using Worm Casting Plugs to start the seed in and plant the plug into the "Forever Pot". Use a plastic lid with holes in it for ventilation. We want humidity to be 70-80% during this stage. Using a pot size more than 10 gallons is not beneficial unless the plant is vegetating for a longer than usual period of time. Using more blue light in Veg will prevent the vertical stretch while promoting the root growth.
I rip up my roots to break down in the soil i reuse. I collect plant matter to cook in. Not outside, a huge bin right under the table, my dining room is my garden. Apartment living!
Start in 1 gallon coco, your seedling will thank you for not drowning them. You can veg and train in that 1 gallon for 3-4 weeks. Re pot in final 5 gallon soil of your choice, give them a week or 2 to adjust and flip to flower. You got it! Super simple
Growing organic/living soil, the bigger the pots - the better. Plants and microbiology in the ryzosphere aren't working as hard, better buffer, less drought stress etc If you wanna spoon feed/crop steer and use mineral nutrients, smaller pots are perfectly fine. I've tried just about everything, right now I'm running 10 gal fabrics, and plants are loving it. Ain't much bigger yield than say 5-7 gal, but I recycle the soil and the fact that I water less frequently (every five days compared to every day when I was running say 4 gal fabric) is more than enough for me. Hey, I'm lazy what can I say :D
I have grown in 65 gallon smart pots, 5 gallon buckets, 10,20 gallon pots. In my opinion the biggest difference is veg time. If you’re in control of your room. The quality should be similar. Big plants are more work!!!
I plant clones in 1 gals, veg in 3 gals, and flower in 5 gals. I also don't flower old plants. If I want to keep the genetic and the plant has been in veg for too long, I clone it and start over with fresh roots.
I’ve grown 3 different cultivars from totally different producers and got buds on the leaves Jungle cake clones Was the stickiest by far even the limbs were covered with tri combs Marshmallow kronic and now purple blackberry Kush All in DWC
There are decent auto flowers out there. Auto Flowers are great for beginners and perfect for huge yields. The growth of autoflowers are always going to be faster than any photoperiod due to the Ruderalis aka Hemp strain that was been cross bred. Hemp grows fast and I wish more ppl would look into the benefits of industrial Hemp.
Can I put my germinated seed straight into the big grow pot rather than stressing it moving into another pot. I did one last year and it was fine. What do you think of the basket grow bags. Im trying a few different pots with the dame seeds so fingers crossed.
I love my ac infinity bowl trimmer. Cuts time 10 fold. Can put 1/2 zips in at a time. Turn 5 to 10 each way and down. Can final trim if need but I thrown in jar good to go
Growing in MN has exploded. It's hard to find distilled water in stock. Check the baby section because they will sometimes sell the DW for baby humidifiers. We stocked up!
R/O, Reverse Osmosis water can also be used. Water with no other minerals. If you used Tap water which may have some Calcium, Magnesium, Iron (I think those are the prominent minerals most will have..?!), they'll be distributed with the mist/fog that's created by the humidifier. This will leave a coating of whatever else was in the water, on all sorts of things. At least from some of the attempts I've read about, seen pics of. I'll have to google more about this again, "What happens when using Tap water in a humidifier?" Then check "images", and really see how these minerals separate and collect on cars, etc. Distilled water, or R.O, water.
Personally when it comes to transplanting, less is more IMO. The best result time wise I have ever had was when I planted a cutting into a giant 4 gall pot rather than working my way up and managed to dial in the watering just right so the plant shot off like a rocket. The trick is getting the water right, its very easy to overwater the plants in that situation, so thats why people pot up to try and avoid this, even myself as I cant always get the watering right..
Having problems with my grow dots lower leafs turning light of yellowish on low half kinda wondering when you're new grow dots are coming out with more mag.
If using fermented microbes like activated EM-1, and a soil cleaner like ionic sulfated minerals, you have living soil. Living soil should not have any dry back, you want the soil to always have moistness. Water moisture is needed for all chemical reactions, so don't let living soil dry back completely. This is only true with fermented living soil. Otherwise the dry backs produce salt deposits just like dry pockets from improper/ under watering.
When to Up pot, and proper procedure would be nice to touch base on. Also finishing in cloth after up potting in good plastic pots with proper aeration. Now square pots are becoming more prevalent. Benefits of cloth pots must be expressed.
I think about my first grow a auto dubai poison in a 3 gallon air pot. Waht do u think about the size? I want to give the plant all the space she needs.

I had a grow where i strictly used dehumidifier water back in the 90’s. It was in a basement & the plants did fine but I feel like I had some health problems. I thought it was from either black mold ore the water being dirty. I do know when I stopped using dehumidifier water & moved to Denver😂
You're supposed to only use either RO or distilled water in a humidifier. You should only need one during veg anyway. Keep flower at 40% humidity and veg at 60%
After sprouting, my seedlings go directly into 30L pots. That lets the taproot travel to the bottom once, instead of constantly looking for a new bottom after every transplant. I am convinced, this is what gives me trees instead of bushes 😅
Scotty saved my arse......(see the end) I have used 5 gallon fabric pots. I use Jacks Nutrients. I have had very good results with Pro mix HP. One thing I do is slightly raise my pots off the drain tray using wire mesh type grates so that the pot is roughly 3/4 inch off the drain table so that air can circulate underneath the fabric pots. I dont know if this makes a difference but it seems like having the pot raised prevents the bottom of my pots from ever being overly saturated. My drainage is excellent and my roots never sit in any run off except that which goes through the pot itself. I always had a problem with all the bottoms of the fabric pots sitting on the drain table sharing run off from other plants. Plus, maybe the air flow under the pots assists with preventing root rot and maybe even air pruning. Note: Thanks to Scotty, I just figured out what was poisoning my plants. MY CO2 burner without an air scrubber. Thanks Scotty. I had only turned on my CO2 burner for 2 days and had suddenly seen some weird stuff. Watched one of these videos on C02 and immediately went and shut my burner off and ventilated the room. It must have been in enough time to not screw up the grow because everything looks fantastic after having shut that fcker off. Whew. I think you saved me brother.
Another great episode and great to see some data regarding the metals (even if minuscule) from the dehumidifiers 🙌. Watched it while enjoying some B+ Onto some OrangeGasm we go.

I've heard that terpenes are volatile above 82°. I think y'all talked about it in a recent video. I am curious if that's ambient temperature or leaf surface temperature? Does anyone know?
6 to 10 weeks depending upon how fast the fill my space. 6 girls usual for a 4/8 space. In 5 gallon pots. I get the top below everything and spread them out by pinning them down
I don't understand why you would need to use water from your dehumidifier? How much water are you getting out of your dehumidifier to make it worth doing?
I know what it is like to have to smoke a bowl of cannabis is secret due to laws (at the time). It sucks to treat something like Cannabis as if it were a crack rock or a meth pipe. There is not logical reason to keep Cannabis illegal outside of the money that is already being made off of the incarceration of Marijuana.
Yes the shark dive was amazing. I have pics but dnt know how to share them with u. I emailed jrtokin some pics if u want to see them.Carribean reef sharks. More docile than most but look mean. 6-8ft long about 15 of them the plants are doing fine btw.

You indoor growers are such scientists! 😂 I grow from seed in 30-40 gallon containers. Start the seeds in 6” cow pots, then right into the big bags. Organic potting soil, organic fertilizers and organic bug killer come caterpillar time. I get 1.5 - 2+ lbs. of excellent quality bud per plant and my electric bill is completely unaffected. You do you though.

I water every other day. Sometimes I'll water 2 days in a row n let em dry 48h before watering then ill go back to watering every other day. When i water ill give em half their water closer too lights on then the other half 3-5h later. I grow organic so letting em dry right out isn't ideal however its how i grow. I top dress and water with teas.

No. That is not necessary to move it out of multiple transplanting pots. No, that's goingna take you a long time when you could just get everything you need within the first 4 months and just 2 pots. If not just one, you do not need more than 2 pots. You start in a small one. Moved to the bigger one you're done.
When my kids were in school they didn’t have due dates on assignments. They just had to have it turned in before the end of the grading period. Which led to them trying to put it all off until they couldn’t any longer..
Once you guys start crop steering In 1 gallon pots you will never grow the old bro science way! It’s a game changer and your all missing the boat . It such a waste to hand feed once a day in huge pots wasting all the media . I pulled over 8 lbs on 2 4x8 trays in 1 gallon pots 6.5 foot tall plants ! Using crop steering irrigation .

Growing synthetic or any part of salts I wouldn’t bother reusing , it take time to build the IMO for proper cycling And for organic don’t remove the roots, establish cover crop , and let it sit outside for a year, year of cycle will most if not all the dead roots, return nutrients back to the soil, + new nutes via earthworms and working IMO within the soil, now if you pluck the roots out you eroding the soil, allowing air and other substances to enter , currently doing second grow with recycled coco coir & handful of dry amends like volcanic rock dust, dolomite lime , aquatic clay , biochar …. Myco and Super8 organic dry nutes

From SEED to end one pot 20years perfekt plants Love from Germany
In nature the seed goes in the ground so does potting up 4 times really benefit
I suppose it does to stop from overwatering

Tip for any small teepee growers out there that do t want more then one 2 plants but want quantity I’d recommend a city picker as it’s square vs earthboxes so it has more room to root out set it flat on the floor (ontop of plastic or some kind of tray) this way your as close to the ground as possible for height reasons and do your normal training light choice is upto you but this is possibly the perfect setup for a 3x3 or 4x4
I used to sea of green, doing more smaller plants. I get higher quality and better yield per watt in larger containers doing screen of green now days.
I'm on my 2nd scrog grow. Went from 3 gallon pots to 5 gallon buckets this time. Big difference in size. Much better looking plants and easier to manage watering
Theres a good youtube on "commercial DWC operation". They did LST, scrogging and no topping at scale.
Fun show
I used to transplant 2 or 3 times before harvest but switched to planting in "Forever pots"(no transplanting needed).
Or just leave them in the coco and auto feed multiple times a day same size plants smaller pots
Growing organic/living soil, the bigger the pots - the better. Plants and microbiology in the ryzosphere aren't working as hard, better buffer, less drought stress etc
If you wanna spoon feed/crop steer and use mineral nutrients, smaller pots are perfectly fine.
I’ve been using the same nursery pots for probably six years now
I plant clones in 1 gals, veg in 3 gals, and flower in 5 gals. I also don't flower old plants. If I want to keep the genetic and the plant has been in veg for too long, I clone it and start over with fresh roots.
Scotty is correct about saying basic training , I drank a lot back then .. and grambo what makes green grass grow blood blood blood 🩸 😮
I’ve grown 3 different cultivars from totally different producers and got buds on the leaves
Jungle cake clones
Was the stickiest by far even the limbs were covered with tri combs
Marshmallow kronic and now purple blackberry Kush
All in DWC
There are decent auto flowers out there. Auto Flowers are great for beginners and perfect for huge yields. The growth of autoflowers are always going to be faster than any photoperiod due to the Ruderalis aka Hemp strain that was been cross bred. Hemp grows fast and I wish more ppl would look into the benefits of industrial Hemp.
Can I put my germinated seed straight into the big grow pot rather than stressing it moving into another pot. I did one last year and it was fine. What do you think of the basket grow bags. Im trying a few different pots with the dame seeds so fingers crossed.
In an outdoor plastic greenhouse should I use a 4by4 light when its cloudy.
Should I put a wee heater in my outdoor greenhouse if it gets cooler.
I go from clone cup to big tall pot use pickle barrels about 10gal one move less stress

Growing in MN has exploded. It's hard to find distilled water in stock. Check the baby section because they will sometimes sell the DW for baby humidifiers. We stocked up!
Blaine mn here....got jugs stocked up at all times lol
@ScottyRealDGC I use jugs of Natural spring water...shoulda mentioned that
R/O, Reverse Osmosis water can also be used.

From UK. I use beauty supply shops for my DW cheapest i have found per litre / min order?
Yes, they do. I got 15 gal, and the RH is insane
Am on my first grow only 3 plants cupboard grow on the cheep and got amazing results 👍
Hey guys I have a question about starting clones. Has anyone started in just soil and if so how long does it take.
When to Up pot, and proper procedure would be nice to touch base on.
Also finishing in cloth after up potting in good plastic pots with proper aeration.
Now square pots are becoming more prevalent. Benefits of cloth pots must be expressed.

Scotty saved my arse......(see the end)
I have used 5 gallon fabric pots.
Growing outdoors and using a pot due to possible contamination until I can figure it out. What size should I use ? 10? 25?!

I get the top below everything and spread them out by pinning them down
Can you use grow dots in hydroponics
I reckon Grambo on Mushies would be a great yarn 👌🇦🇺
I don't understand why you would need to use water from your dehumidifier? How much water are you getting out of your dehumidifier to make it worth doing?

Dude. Your on to something ...all you have to do is just line the inside of your fabric pot with a cake liner. I am on th too..humidity just sucks in a tent. And scottie says bakes outdoors. Have to make a ghillie suit for it and here the plant and myself too
You indoor growers are such scientists!
By the way a good munchies satisfier is celery with peanut butter on top with alot of salt and then dip it in hidden valey ranch oh yeah...hits all sences..and another is a whole rack of starburst...ohhhhhh
Dryback is important and effective because it puts drought stress onto the plant

Hey guys👋.. I only use my media again if there has been no problems with the grow.. no p.m., insects, etc..
No. That is not necessary to move it out of multiple transplanting pots. No, that's goingna take you a long time when you could just get everything you need within the first 4 months and just 2 pots. If not just one, you do not need more than 2 pots. You start in a small one. Moved to the bigger one you're done.
All these ppl are retarded....u and me seem to be the only ones with common sence.
I appreciate the lessons 👍🏻
When my kids were in school they didn’t have due dates on assignments. They just had to have it turned in before the end of the grading period. Which led to them trying to put it all off until they couldn’t any longer..
Once you guys start crop steering In 1 gallon pots you will never grow the old bro science way!
It’s a game changer and your all missing the boat . It such a waste to hand feed once a day in huge pots wasting all the media . I pulled over 8 lbs on 2 4x8 trays in 1 gallon pots 6.5 foot tall plants ! Using crop steering irrigation .

Bigger is always easier with organics. Therefore, bigger is better!
Is it easier, though?
@@everennui1 Absolutly, much easier.

Growing synthetic or any part of salts I wouldn’t bother reusing , it take time to build the IMO for proper cycling
And for organic don’t remove the roots, establish cover crop , and let it sit outside for a year, year of cycle will most if not all the dead roots, return nutrients back to the soil, + new nutes via earthworms and working IMO within the soil, now if you pluck the roots out you eroding the soil, allowing air and other substances to enter , currently doing second grow with recycled coco coir & handful of dry amends like volcanic rock dust, dolomite lime , aquatic clay , biochar …. Myco and Super8 organic dry nutes
I have always thought roots continue to grow for about 2/3 weeks after going into flower? edited to add .... for the Dude .... 'Spring forward & Fall back' ...... 😊
I’m surprised they don’t recommend tall nursery pots, way healthier longer tap roots,
