Having owned and watched this VHS as a kid, I never realized how relevant the first episode (titled “Going by the Book”) would still be today. Equal representation in entertainment and media is a major issue, particularly when it comes to people of color or other minorities. How many of us growing up recall seeing someone in film or TV that looked like them, and in a role of prestige or autonomy? For people of color, they may see very few people who look like them, or see no one at all. Even though we’re all about racial equality and equal opportunity, white people are still more likely to be cast in leading roles, more likely to be put in the forefront for accolades. And race is just one aspect the media tends to gloss over. I enjoyed the overarching message here, which is if you don’t see someone like you being represented, someone who can tell your story, break down those barriers and be that person; create your own art and let your voice be heard.
Leon: You know who this reminds me of? Skye: The Little Mermaid? Leon: 😐 Me: No, Skye. You're thinking of Ariel. The heroine that Leon was asking about was Cinderella. And in case none of y'all know, Ariel is the name of Disney's Little Mermaid.

Don't try to hide you two. I think some people already know you both have crushes on each other. Yep! Puppets caught in 4K. That's a new one. Shoot, I'm 13 years old! My mom started dating when she was 11! Yet, she tells me not to date until I'm 15 or 16! And I was like: Mom logic! I will never ever ever understand it, until I become a mother myself! But, I did have a boyfriend back in Kindergarten. His name was Matthew. I can't remember his last name though. But, we loved hanging out with each other during recess when it was really nice outside. But, one time he was helping me on the monkey bars he wanted to hold my feet. Yeah, I was 5 years old at the time or 6 because my B-day is January eight, two thousand eight. I'm 13 now! And I didn't feel comfortable with that so I was like: Nevermind. Maybe I'll try to do them later. And I moved. So, I don't have a boyfriend as of rn, but that's not what I'm worried about rn! I got stuff I gotta get done first before I go off and find someone who's Christian like me, and will not do the same thing my mother did with another person. Yeah, my life's complicated rn. There are now 3 pairs of characters that I ship. Lucy and Shroeder (Peanuts), Pentuina and Larry (VeggieTales), and now Julie and Skye (The Puzzle Place) so that way it'll help me carry on in life.
The Egyptian Cinderella, Rhodopis, could very well be the first Cinderella story, and I recommend it. Just type it in at google and you'll find information on it.
