This was actually an A Cappella group. Lee Greenwood is the original songwriter/singer (older gentleman). Home Free is the A Cappella group that was singing in the studios and the soilders were in the uniforms.
All the music was done with just their voices. Adam Rupp from Home Free is a world champion beatboxer. You should check out some of their stuff. Man of Constant Sorrow is a great place to start. Great reactions!!!!
Man Of Constant Sorrow. :)
Fixed :) thanks
HOME FREE! HOME FREE! HOME FREE!
Adam Rupp never competed in beat boxing! He's just damn good but not any kind of champion.
Adam is not a World Champion beatboxer. He has won a few small/local competitions many years ago. Nothing even close a World Championship. He said he has never competed in one and doesn't have the time nor desire to. Every Beatboxing World Championship is here on YT if you want to check.
That’s also the GREATEST A-Cappella Group singing along.. Home Free!! 🥰♥️🎶 (NO INSTRUMENTS in this arrangement)! It’s all just their voices & beat boxer
Our military bands and choruses are amazing. Lee Greenwood is a long enjoyed country singer. And, of course, the Home Free boys are amazing.
As others have pointed out Lee Greenwood (original performer of the song) was the first gentleman singing on screen. You have Home Free an acapella group (the guys' at the mics in regular civilian clothes), and members of the US military (the ones in uniform). All of this recording is done without instruments, all the vocals and instrumentals you hear are all voices and sounds created by the voice.
Lee Greenwood wrote and recorded this song in 1984. He is doing it here with the A Capella group Home Free and the U. S. Air Force. This was recorded during the pandemic so they were all in different locations. Wonderful version.
I dont care how many times I see this video, I still get chills and it brings a tear to my eye. If there was ever a song that truly captured the heart of American patriotism and love of country, Lee Greenwood wrote it right here.
Don't know if it's still done, but when I attended the citizenship ceremony for a couple of my friends, it ended with the video of Lee's original version of the song. Not a dry eye in the place
Same. Ever since the first time I saw his video not long after 9/11. Especially thinking of all my family lost to the many wars we've fought since 1835 when my 4x great grandpa came here.
This song played over loud speakers while I was in Germany and our soldiers were coming home after Desert Storm . It gives me chills and brings back memories.
Song puts tears of joy and pride in my eyes everything I hear it. God bless our USA!
We love our country so much😍❤😍
From what i understand... Lee asked Home Free to join him to re-record this, and Home Free asked to include the USAF SINGING SARGEANTS. if y'all enjoyed this, please check out more Home Free. They are INCREDIBLE!! & they have covered & written lots of patriotic USA songs. (My country tis of thee, land of the free are amazing!) ❤❤
I can’t hear this song with out bawling my eyes out. This song is very special to many. Lee Greenwood is a country treasure, been singing/writing since 1962, he agreed to do this with the acapella group Home Free they are the other singers not in uniform.
The name of the A Capella group is " Home Free"
Sorry, wrong answer. The correct answer to the a capella group with the soldiers and Lee is "Home Free". Better luck next time. Hope you get some parting gifts.
@@kendallcarstens9194 lol so right I was listening to pentatonic when I typed that lol 😂 very much not the same as Home Free lol
Lee Greenwood wrote this song, it was a huge hit for him back in the 1980's. The soldiers are the USAF Singing Sergeants. This recording was done when Covid made it impossible for them all to record in the same place, the buildings shown in the very beginning were the recording studios in the various cities closest to where they were at the time. Lee was 77 when this was recorded, which in itself was quite impressive.
This song holds special meeting for the US military.
I would say all Americans it's a very well known song
We love, appreciate, and truly respect all of our military🇺🇸❤ We have family in the service as well. We will give it ALL for our country, myself included. Some people just don’t get it lol.
It made me realize in bootcamp how Blessed I was to be American. He sang this with such conviction! As if every fiber of his being meant every word. ,
What meeting? Did we miss something?
Still gives me goosebumps after 39 years.
Same here
I am an American who is 60 years old. I remember the first time I heard this back in 1984 wrote and sung by Lee Greenwood. I actually, literally walked into him at the Las Vegas Hilton on my way to the lunch room. I said my bad, he said no problem. This song went on to be second only to the national anthem. What blows me away with this video is that he is almost 80 years old and still can belt it.
My father served in the military for a total of 33 years. As such, I was referred to as an "Army brat", a nickname I proudly wear even at 72. We fly the American Flag 24/7 in my house.
I'm born and raised American and I love this song.. Thank you for the reaction
As an American were one nation under god... god bless 🇺🇸
It was a cappella and it was Lee Greenwood (first singer) who wrote the song (it was a huge hit in the 80’s) and Home Free (an a cappella vocal band) and the US Air Force Singing Sergeants in this video. Home Free was all the guys not wearing a uniform. They are an amazing band. This was during Covid hence why they were in different cities. Lee sounded great for 77!
Lee Greenwood was the older man, the other men not in uniform were the a capella group home free, all of the people in uniform were part of The Air Force Singing Sargeants. The music you heard was all done by beat boxer from Home Free
The air force members who sang are part of the military choir "Singing Sergeants" and they perform for military events. Did you hear the sound of the flyover at the end? That was done by Adam Rupp. This is really a great version of this song,, done during the pandemic.
SO glorious! Very cool how they got this done despite the pandemic! ❣️🎼🥰🎶♥️
Home Free is a truly remarkable acapella group; their incomparable vocal percussionist, Adam Rupp, doing the flyover ✈️ sounds at the end always gives me an extra dose of goosebumps 🥰
Home Free would be a good rabbit hole to go down !!!! A lot of us Home Fries out here . Home Fries are Home Free fans !!
Lee Greenwood wrote this awhile ago…he’s in his late 70’s….still has it. The military singers are the U.S. Air Force Singing Sargents….some really talented guys & gals 🇺🇸🇺🇸🎵🇺🇸🇺🇸‼️
This was done during Covid….so, they (Home Free guys were at their homes across the USA….L.A., Nashville, Minnesota)…the USAF guys & gals were in Washington DC.). Home Free is an a cappella ( vocal band). The Beat Boxer is beyond phenomenal…one incredibly talented guy ‼️🫶🏼🎶🎵🔥
Home Free is an acapella band - their beatboxer is so extraordinary that people hearing them either forget or don't realize that there are no instruments. Lee Greenwood is the older man (it's his original song), the U.S. Air Force singing sergeants are all in camouflage. Home Free is noted for their tight harmonies & tremendous individual voices. Fall down the Home Free rabbit hole! 3 of them are song writers, so there are lots of original songs as well as covers.
Great reaction guys the a capella group that arranged this is home Free a Country based a capella group . I have always loved his song.
I believe this Lee Greenwood song (God Bless the USA) feat: Home Free & US Airforce Choir was recorded in 2020 in the height of the Pandemic and so they all recorded via some sort of Zoom recording session.
Best song ever, God bless America, Keep fighting for Freedom, ❤
Literally every time I go shopping in any store I usually wind up in short conversations with other people shopping..that's the USA! We just talk to each other..total strangers..it's great 💖 However lately we're all bitching about inflation!! Hahahahaha
There was an unbelievable contribution to this song! They are ALL great, but the accapella group HOME FREE added so much! Tim Faust, the deep bass that sang the line about Texas, has a 5 octave range! His tenor is as fantastic as is his bass! Phenomenol SONG! ❤ ❤ ❤
This was so beautiful. It's 2:27 am and here i am weeping like a toddler listening to these men and women that protect our country. God bless the USA!!!
Our country is young and we're not so many generations removed from those who fought for our freedom and created our country and our flag. I think that's why Americans put so much value on our flag and our patriotism.
Home Free released this video and a "making of" video on their UA-cam channel. It's always so interesting, and fun, to watch the behind the scenes! Thank you ^_^
Well done, thank you!
I would strongly urge you all to check out more of Home Free. They call themselves a Country Vocal Band but they do all genre, just about. Taking a look at their playlist is like reading a compendium of American music. :)
Lee Greenwood is a country singer who wrote the song God bless the USA was recorded in 1983 and released in 1984.
Lee Greenwood sounded great.
I loved the '84 original version, but this one brings tears to my eyes every time. So beautiful. God bless the USA.
Thanks for playing this video and your reactions. I'm pretty proud of my fellow Americans even though we don't always agree.

Thank you for your service Gunny!!
The original song came out in the mid 80's and was amazing. It will always hold a special place in my heart because it was the song they played when I graduated Boot Camp in October of 1999. I cried like a baby and I was so very proud to be serving my country. I retired from the US Navy in 2021 after 22 years of service to my country. This song will forever hold a special place in my heart and I thank y'all for reacting to it. Keep up the great reactions!❤👍
It's Lee Greenwood, Home Free acapella group and the United States air force band sooo yes, this was all acapella NO instruments. Nice reaction guys ❤
Lee Greenwood and Home Free are great. Home Free is a wonderful a cappella group, and were the singers that were not in uniform. The soldiers that did sing were terrific as well. Check out more Home Free.
😢 I was teary eyed 😢
This is a beautiful song 🙂🔥
Sophie said it was almost A cappella… it was fully A cappella….Lol! It’s crazy they had no idea.
It’s also crazy that my seven year old new right away that, in his own words, “they’re doing the drums with their voice”.
Goosebumps
This was done during the pandemic and they were all in different arias doing this song. I am American and I get goosebumps every time I hear this song!
I am the daughter, sister, wife and mother of wartime veterans and this song makes me cry every time I hear it, I am so proud of all those who serve this country, including police ,firefighters and emts.
Your relatives killed people they didn’t know for a paycheck. Open your f-cking eyes.
3 times deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and this song was playing while boarding our plane. It always gives me chills! 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment….BRAVERIFLES
As an American, its hard to hear this song amd nit cry every single time! So heartwarming and powerful!
I’m 31, I remember all the kids in my grade in elementary school doing a school performance where we all sang this song. I loved it then and now❤
You commented on the deep voice of the Home Free base singer. You should check out "Home Free Brothers in Arms" This song pays homage to soldiers defending our country. Amazing Song and video. You will also hear a lot of that amazing deep voice. I will put the link in the next comment.
Yes, Lee Greenwood is a country singer. This is a revised version. The original version is just as amazing. 😊
They did this during COVID... couldn't be in the same studio...during the pandemic this was a salute to all Americans.... How we stood as a country together during covid
To everyone who served, currently serving, who plans on serving thank you! Thank you for protecting our country from our enemies, terrorists, and cyber attacks! My uncle served for 10 years on active duty in the army, luckily survived and made it out. My other uncle didn’t serve for the military but served for the NYPD counterterrorism division and served for over 25 years! So to everyone serving our nation and protecting our cities! God bless!
I joined the army in 1988 and they played the song after we said our oath.
One of the very best renditions of this song. Lee Greenwood released it in either the late 70s or in the 80s. It is such a beautiful expression of love for the USA. When my husband was in charge of a banquet for the Association of the United States Army in 1984, after he had some survivors of the Bataan Death March speak, he played this record. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house!
Gaynor is right. I love my cross-the-street neighbor, side neighbor and back neighbor. When my family is on vacation, they ask if l want them to bring trash bins out on trash day. I love all my neighbors. We look after each other.
Almost it’s 100% a cappella even the drum sounds where made by a person.
I find it interesting that in the second stanza (starts "From the Lakes of Minnesota,...") each singer of a particular line is from the place(s) mentioned. That works even for the line 'from sea to shining sea' sung by Adam Chance who as a youngster lived in both Florida and coastal Alabama and then in the Los Angeles area.
Lee Greenwood wrote this song. Home Free is an acapella group that collaborated with him to do this version during quarantine (that's why it's filmed in different cities). There were no manufactured instruments in this performance, just voices. You might want to check out Home Free's solo performance of this song (no Lee, no soldiers). You might also want to check out Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (Toby Keith) to find out more about the American way. hehehehe
Oh,and Lee Greenwood wrote this song and recorded it quite some time ago. He's 77 yrs old here and sounds even better than he did when he first did it.
Lee finally recorded this song as he imagined it could be.
American’s are patriotic because we respect those who have served, sacrificed and even given their lives for our country. Respect and appreciation is the very least we can do.
This song was originally done by Lee Greenwood. A year or so ago he did this vetsion with the acapela voice band Home Free (terrific group) and the US Army Chorus.
That lovely deep voice belongs to Tim Foust of Home Free, you need to listen to some Home Free and see how wonderful they are 🏴
Just an FYI, but there were no musical instruments used in this. It was all Acapella!
Lee Greenwood wrote the song and was the original artist to sing it that I know of. But the HomeFree/LeeGreenwood version is SO AMAZING!!!
That was really good, hadn't heard this version b4
In the military you are asked a battery of questions before you go in. For instance when my brother went in they asked him a bunch of questions including if he had ever played and instrument, he of course said yes he had played saxophone years ago so to his surprise when he got to boot camp they informed him that he was in the military band and they said don’t screw up. He hadn’t played saxophone in years but had to play it and do it well, all while still doing all of his boot camp stuff. He didn’t get time out of any of the other boot camp stuff or studying but in his little bit of free time had to go for band practice. He said it comes back to you in a hurry because you know if you screw up you’re going to be punished with extra workout/hiking or something unpleasant and exhausting. He said when they ask you all those questions at sign up you have no idea they are putting their band and choir and other things they think you’re skilled at or at least have did before for future use for the military. But he said we sounded great when we performed for the graduation ceremonies. You would have no idea we were a ramshackle group who had never played together before boot camp and that some of us hadn’t played an instrument in years before joining up. Boot camp changes you, it’s hard mentally and physically, more mentally than anything and you’re praying to God the whole time that you don’t get recycled and have to go through it again but in the end it makes you a better person, more confident, able to make split second decisions and more aware of your surroundings and many other good qualities. When my brother finally came home he wasn’t the boy that left us. He was so grown up when he came home a few months later and more sure of himself even in the way he carried himself. He’s very much a risk taker but a calculated risk taker, he’s quickly able to assess whatever the situation and not panic. Hes in his 50’s now but he’s still got the military man in him and he’s been out of the service for almost 30 years but it’s served him well in life after the military.
Also here in America, you get to know your neighbors because you help each other out especially when someone is having a bad time in life. Our neighbor across the road would plow all the neighbors driveways in the winter just to be kind and helpful since he had the equipment to do so. No one asked him, he just did it. I would always take homemade hot chocolate and a can of coffee over to him and his family each winter as a thank you, not because I had to but because I make my own homemade hot chocolate and have plenty of extra cans of coffee and I wanted to let him know we appreciated his generosity. Our neighbor next door, came over and mowed our yard when he saw our mower break down while my husband was mowing and told us to just get his mower out of the shed anytime we need to use it til ours was fixed. I baked pecan pies and took over to say thank you plus he’s went through a divorce and doesn’t get home cooked food that much so it was something I could do to say thank you. When our neighbor across the road found out his wife had cancer and she had to quit her job because of her treatments, we went up to the water department and paid their water bill up for the next two months because we figured their money was tight with her not working and all the medical bills pouring in. That’s what people do for each other here in America, at least in small towns. We look out for each other especially in times of need and don’t expect anything in return for our kindness but it always comes back to you in one way or another. It’s like the Bible says, (I’m paraphrasing) “treat others as you want to be treated.”
This song was a favorite of General Norman Swarzkopf during the first Gulf War in 1990-1991, that's one reason the American Troops relate to it now.
This song is a collaboration among Lee Greenwood (first singer shown), a cappella group Home Free, and the US Army band.
When 9/11 was going down, the first thing I needed to do was listen to this song.
Love this song! Thank you for your reaction. You were right that was Lee Greenwood. He was about 77 when they did this. I loved it the first time he came out with it but i really like this one.
Lee Greenwood is great. I think he is getting up into his 80s now.
Home Free is the A Cappella group that did this version of this song. Lee Greenwood the gentleman that started the song is the original singer and writer of this song. Home Free connected with Lee Greenwood and the USAF Band do this version. The most important and impressive about this is this version is 100% A Cappella. No instruments were used just. Vocals. The 5 gentleman singing in just street clothes were Home Free . You should check out more of Home Free covers like. WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN
I come from s strong military family background plus my 2 middle boys are vets. I cry every time i hear this song.
This was filmed during the pandemic, so that is the reason for the different locations.
The Acapella group “ Home Free “, accompanied Lee Greenwood (the original artist) and the military on this song. There were no musical instruments on this song. You guys should check out “Home Free”, your viewers would enjoy this group. Acapella is trending in a big way over here. These guys are all from the US, and now tours internationally. They have been touring Australia & the UK. Nice selection, we Americans love this song, and it was played heavily during the horrific 9/11 tragedy. Hearing this song helped give us unity during our traumatic nightmare.
Because there is no mention of Home Free in this, some other reactors as well, is the only reason I did not give the like. The song would not have worked without them.
The soldiers are all members of the United States Airforce Singing Sergeants.
Always remember this. No better friend, no worse enemy then an American.
The people here are Lee Greenwood (who originally recorded this song), Home Free (an acapella group) and the military.
Lee Greenwood is the original writer of this tribute song. God Bless Lee Greenwood! This is not the original recording. God Bless the USA....
This song makes me choke up every time.
Cheers and respect
The background vocalists not in uniform are the A cappella group, Homefree!
In the U.S., we have savors in our Navy, soldiers in our Army Airmen inour Air Force, and we have Marines in our Navy's MarineCorps.
In this video, there are no soldiers, sailors, or marines..
The people inu infirm are all airmen, all part of the Aur Force Band, and all singing band members.
That’s lee greenwood, some members of the military and also Homefree the acapella group
its a beautiful song. our military and soldiers are amazing. its the people behind it using it as a sales pitch for 1.5 trillion a year budget that are not so amazing. you should react to the original also. love your channel
this is a great new version. Love the fact that he added actual soldiers and airmen. You should also check Lee's original version which really caught on around 9/11 but really like the redo, lots of very talented singers
God bless the U.S.A. Tthe best country in the world.🫡🇺🇸
If you hear the sound of jets flying overhead at the end of the song, that's actually their beatboxer Adam Rupp. The gray-haired guy at the soundboard is Home Free's producer Darren Rust. The men and women in uniform are known as the Singing Sergeants. Home Free has a version of this song where it's just them singing. A beautiful videos with great views, but I think this one sounds better.
The older man that was singing in the beginning
Lee Greenwood, Home Free and the Air Force Choir.
US Air Force Singing Sergeants.
The older gentleman is Lee Greenwood. Those in uniform are U.S. Air Force. The others are the a capella group Home Free.
I love this song! Makes me feel so proud to be an American. ❤🤍💙
It was all a capella.
This is President Trump’s Opening Song at every Rally too!! 🇺🇸♥️
Those soldiers have to try out for military choirs. If I’m not mistaken they have to try out before they even enter a military branch. It’s not easy to get picked for these choirs.
What a beautiful version of this song! Great video! 🥰
