Yes that is Lee Greenwood who wrote this song. He Was thrilled to be able to do more runs and extras with all the other people singing .
This is so very special !
Yes!!! The behind the scenes, Lee Greenwood says he was happy to sing it the way he wanted to!
The amazing thing is that Lee was 77 years old when this was recorded. Like a fine wine his voice has only got better with age.
Did you notice at the very end, Adam Rupp did the fly over sound
Your reaction leaves nothing else to be said. The honor given to the original was spectacular and just notched up to another level. Thank you for your heartfelt views on this.
Absolutely agree!! 👏👏
Great reaction. There are people who still love this country and honor those who sacrifice to protect us.
This Marine Mom thanks you for this reaction.....but also for your obvious emotional response and patriotism. It is so rare today. God bless you.
What a masterpiece ❤️❤️👏😁👋😁👍
Amen😁love our Country, military And our flag n all it stands for👏👏👏👏👏
My Mom joined the Navy. Second group of women to be in the Navy. She was very patriotic. She would be 103 if she was alive. VERY PROUD OF HER.❤
My late husband was stationed at Ellsworth AFB, SD...where he was killed on duty. We had the opportunity to see Lee Greenwood perform this song at the fair the year before he died. This song has such a special meaning. God Bless the USA
I ugly cry every time I hear this song. Lee Greenwood is 72 and can still sing. Home Free is happy to let him and the Singing Sargents do their thing. Thank you for your honest heartfelt reaction!
Yes this is Lee Greenwood's song and he is 78 years young and his voice is still fantastic. I know exactly what you mean because my father and 2 brothers all retired from the Air Force. Many people will never understand the level of patriotism that surrounds a military family and the strength of love and pride we feel for this great Country and for all those who serve.
I cried when I heard this version for the first time. I am so proud to be an AMERICAN!!❤️🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲❤️
This version got an award for fastest viral video with 2 million views in 1 month , it was Lee Greenwood who called HF and asked if they would sing it with him because he heard their cover and loved it
Adam Rupp was a beast in this one, even more than usual. The music is outstanding, but the changes in pace and cadence throughout are what elevates the emotional impact, and that flyover sound he does at the end is the perfect, subtle closing touch.
And just so you know, Home Free was incredibly proud to sing this with him! They have spoken to them a lot. And that was the Air Force group.
Not sure how to start this through my tears, but Home Free is so good for my heart and soul. 2 weeks ago my sister and I took my Daddy’s ashes to the National Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN. close to where he was born. We played Go Rest High on that Mountain by Home Free right after his ashes were safely tucked away. He has an amazing view of the beautiful Tennessee mountains. Our Daddy is a hero! He was a pilot in the Air Force, his main job was to bring home the soldiers who gave their lives to protect us. He stayed with every single body until families could claim them, sometimes for several days, but he just refused to leave his brothers behind. So all of that to say this, God Bless the USA and every single person that puts their own lives ion the line for us, my husband being one of them who just retired after 32 yrs of service to our country!
These men and women voices are angelic!. Amazing job! I cried and couldn't stop❤❤
Lee Greenwood was the the OG artist I believe
you are correct
Just heard Home Free's cover of Brothers in Arms. You REALLY need to check it out. Undescribable.
Yes, Lee Greenwood is the original singer of this song. I don't know how anyone that is an American can not get emotional when hearing this song. I certainly do. Great reaction. Enjoy your channel.
I'm not American and I have no desire to be, and I get emotional hearing this too. 😁
It's sad that a liberal would probably want to "cancel" this song....
@@troywalker8078 , no need to be sad, my fellow American😊I am a "liberal" Army Veteran, more importantly a PROUD fellow AMERICAN and I'll be happy to enlighten and ease your worries!! I can not speak for all our FELLOW AMERICANS("liberal" or not) feelings to "cancel" or not to "cancel",this PATRIOTIC song, since I try to not make assumptions on such matters.🤷♀️ That being said, for me personally, I would not "cancel" 'God Bless The USA' because it brings a mix of emotions with tears..
🤗🥺❤🇺🇲 I feel humble, proud, joy, love for my country and fellow Americans and I even feel sadness as well; for a few seconds I think of the past 4 or so years.. IT'S SAD 😢 to see and/or hear fellow Americans spreading such divisive rhetoric and disdain and apathy and hate toward one another- because you disagree with their political or social views,on either side. 🤦♀️Its sad, even on what should be a unifying song, that(some)fellow Americans are unable to get past the stereotypes and labels; which,is a divisive tactic created and continously used by those in "power" to remain in power and realize that by continuing "their" polarized scheme/game is exactly the opposite of WE THE PEOPLE..!! 😞 However, after about 30 seconds of feeling and thinking about all of that.. I then feel a sense of hope and even motivation to which i then feel thankful... 🤗😊😁 Anyhoo, I hope you have a good day and I hope my response cheered 🍻 ya up...
@@troywalker8078 A totally untrue statement. This liberal loves this song.
What's really cool is that I've seen many reactors from other countries that love and feel the patriotism from this song. That's the beauty and power of music! 🇺🇸❤
This song always makes me sob like a baby. Particularly now, when I feel like our country is under attack from enemies within, this song touches my heart. God Bless The USA. And, Let's Go Brandon.
These are the Official Singing Sargents, the U.S Air Force Choir.. awesome! And when Adam starts with the military snare percussion, I'm always in tears of pride.. nice reaction.
You did not end this on a low note. Showing emotion, especially while listening to such a powerful song, there is no such thing as a low note. I tear up & cry every time I hear this. Absolute patriotism! 😊👏🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I was going to say the same thing, but you said it so beautifully that I'll just say DITTO!
Love love love the original by Lee Greenwood, but this is Spectacular and had me in tears 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Thank you for your kind words and thank your father for his service. 🇺🇸🙏 And yes Lee Greenwood wrote this nearly 40 years ago.
Kathy here - loved your reaction and I was wiping tears aways just like you were. Yes, Lee Greenwood wrote and released the song back in the 80's. A fact, after 9/11, Lee Greenwood sang this as the opening song for the first baseball game played after 9/11.
As an army brat myself, I understand where your coming from. There is a vlog on the Home Free channel on the filming/recording of this song explaining how it came together. Basically Tim and his wife are friends with one of the singing Sargents, (the young lady that sang "to the hills of Tennessee" ). So when Lee Greenwood agreed to do this it was, well, magical. Also on side note I liked how they had the ppl from or near the places sing that part. ... Tim's from Texas, Rob from Minnesota.
Lee Greenwood at 78 still sounding 40. What a great performance.
I have the same reaction to this song, every time. I am an Air Force veteran, so having the USAF Singing Sergeants singing with Lee Greenwood and the group is wonderful!
Yours is the most moving and honest reaction I've seen to this video & I can't thank you enough for it. I've always been proud to be an American but it makes me even more proud to see others stand up as well & appreciate the music, the freedom & the sacrifices that are given for our freedom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Beautiful, well said !!!
You absolutely added to this
Amen👋👋👋👋👋👋
And, RIGHT NOW, these days, we must love her and protect her, because they're trying to destroy her. It's beautiful! I am more patriotic NOW, than ever! I love this "melting pot" of many peoples. Don't let them segregate us. We are HUMANITY, all created equal by God. God bless the USA!
They made that during a Pandemic and the military members is the Air Force singing Sgts
This song always brings tears to my eyes. That was Lee Greenwood, who wrote this song and is the original artist. It was also the Air Force Singing Sergeants. Adam's drums in this one were unbelievable. That bit at the end makes you drop your jaw, then his jet flyover at the very end..... thank you for another great reaction. Also, thanks to your father for his service.
This song has always hit me hard. Lee Greenwood has performed this song pretty much the same way for decades, and he finally was able to cut loose with some extra adlibs that he could never do before is amazing. I adore everything about this rendition, but when Adam cuts loose with that military snare sound, I tear up every time. And the sound of the flyover that Adam does at the end is just icing on the cake! I'd love to see you react to another legend, Kenny Rogers and Home Free doing Children Go Where I Send Thee! Great reaction! ❤
Once again, Adam holds it down....the military snare during the build and the jet flyover sound at the end.....nothing short of brilliant.
That Chief has a great voice. I used to be friends with a lot of the Air Force Reserve Band out of Robins AFB. I’m still here at Robins.
This version always makes me cry. Not sad, but so full of emotion!
I'm U.S. Air Force retired. There are three "prides" I have here, in just one video. The Air Force Band, Lee, and Home Free! I heard Lee sing his song, live, at Clark AB, Philippines, in 1986. Huge crowd of military, all screaming and yelling with patriotism! I'll never forget that! Actually, I live in the Philippines, full time, right now!
The way so many citizens hate this country is heart breaking to me. To see your reaction fills my heart with pride. I just wish more young people would feel the same way. God Bless the USA.
Beautiful and heartfelt reaction to this iconic song. Home Free knocks it out of the park once again. As I'm older than you, Jarvis, God Bless the USA ranks right up there with all the other patriotic songs - National Anthem, God Bless America, America the Beautiful, Souza marches, and Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land to name a few. Thank you for your dad's service. Also, thank you for your family's service. Being a Navy brat and married to a career solider, no one understands better what the families endure than other family members. Kris Kristofferson narrated a film "Brats: Our Journey Home." If you haven't seen it, it's well worth the time to watch.
Thank your father for his service! I love your obvious love for our country and the military and Home Free!
Absolutely love your passion for America, I get goose bumps and tears with this song..
Lee Greenwood ❤❤❤ This song... THIS VERSION...😢😢😢 every single time.
yeesssss soooo good!
That is Lee Greenwood and he is a regulational singer of this song What's incredible he is 80yrs old
1971, Columbus AFB, base 50th anniversary. Lee Greenwood singing this live. Great memories!!!
I think that was the Air Force Singing Sargents, they are magificent !!!! And Lee Greenwood was singing and he also wrote this song and sang it originally. Very well for being 72 years old. Thank You Home Free for coming up with this idea, they do so well in their collaborations with other artists and groups.
As a Boy Scout, I went to the National Jamboree hosted at Fort A.P. Hill VA. The adult leader of our group played Lee Greenwood's original of this every morning at 6:30 as our wake up call. 28 years later and the song still gives me the feels you had as well.
Great Great reaction from you. Don't ever apologize for getting an emotional response to music. That type of music is the best kind, because it lives on in your soul.
I was quite moved by your reaction to this rendition of this amazing song/hymn! Yes, Lee Greenwood, the older gentleman in this video, composed this beautiful, patriotic anthem!! Thanks for sharing!
Appreciate you 😊😊😊
In an interview with Dave Paulson published in the Tennessean 9-1-21, Lee Greenwood stated " . . . The reason I wrote that line was not just because my father served in World War II, and survived it by the way, but I hadn’t heard for many, many years that people were proud of their heritage. My heritage is American. Sure, I’m German, English, Irish, Scottish, but I was born in the United States of America and this is my heritage, American…So, when I said “I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free,” I know that resonated with every American who has lost a son or daughter in conflict combat, and maybe just the strife of how we exist here in America. There’s no other country like this that’s free like we are."
I'm not even American and even the heartfelt comradery in this moves me, and your reaction was beautiful
Thanks Brad much love 😊
I felt your pride & emotions, i wish we were as proud in the UK 🇬🇧
Powerful reaction man. Thanks to your father for his service!!
This is why I love your reactions, you “feel” the music and let your emotions show. Lee Greenwood is the original artist that popularized the song (he’s in his 70s now). Every time I hear this I also, get goosebumps and it often brings tears to my eyes, especially now days. It’s a great collaboration and the addition of the USAF Singing Seargents rounds it all out. Well done every one!
I love your reaction! Im an Air Force brat too. My Father served most of his life and our Grandson now serves in the Army. I get goosebumps all the time too. Great video and Home Free always pulls out the stops. ❤️
Best version of this song ever PERIOD
Agreed!!!!
Home Free are the most patriotic group of guys! You will notice in almost all of their videos you'll see an American flag.
I'm not an American but I cried buckets during this song !
I was amazed at your incredibly patriotic reaction !!!
For a young man in these times that is not always the case!!
Thank you thank you
thank you!!
Thank you to your father and your family for his service to our great country and the sacrifice the families give.
This song has always left me emotional, but this version gets me crying every single time I hear it! Great reaction!
Lee Greenwood, at 78 years of age, simply killing the vocal! I believe Lee said it was the first time in almost 40 years he was able to adlib his vocal. A great performance.
Great job JB. A truly fitting reaction. What an amazing performance by the incredible Lee Greenwood, the wonderfully talented Home Free and the excellent Singing Sergeants. Adam Rupp deserves a medal! Thank you 💙
For me this version is the most moving version I have ever heard. Thank You - Lee Greenwood, Home Free, and especially the US Air Force Band.
Brings tears to my eyes and brings out my Patriotism!❤️🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲❤️
Yes Lee Greenwood Awesome And Home Free
Lee Greenwood is the original singer. This song touches my heart as well, my husband served 30 years in the Army, so I know what you are feeling
An 66 year old vet here and I get the same chills you got every time I hear this song. And yeah Id do it again tomorrow if they needed, The oath has no expiration date.
This was a fantastic remake of this song and the Air Force Choir was on point as an added benefit!! Awesome!! I get teared up everytime too!!!
This is a special version of the original! God bless all who serve(d).
Just watched this today (July 4, 2023) and got emotional all over again. This should be a required watch for ALL Americans on this date.
They all did an outstanding performance doing this song & adding the US Air Force Band. Did you hear Adam's flyover at the end?
I love this song. I Am a Military family!!!! GLORY TO GOD!!!
I'm a Navy brat myself, so I totally relate to what you said about the military and their families. I went to a concert that Lee Greenwood sang, which also had Charlie Rich as well. Lee Greenwood sang this song during the concert. This was not long after he had written and released it as a single. This song is played all across the country through the yrs right along with our national anthem or as often as we play our national anthem. I'm like you, this song holds a strong message and has a special meaning to us. And, as it's said in the song, even as old as I am, I will stand right beside you and defend our country to this day! IF anything were to happen in this country, I will be more than willing to quickly defend this country without even thinking about it. LOVE this song.
Hey Jarvis. The Sogn God Bless the USA was written and performed by Lee Greenwood. There is a interview where Lee talks about how he wrote it and how he presented it. When he presented it he sang it for the very first time while there were 4 sitting presidents and 1 wife. You should check it out. Awesome story.
Great reaction! I only had two uncle's. One was a career Navy veteran and the other was a career Air Force veteran. What a lot of people do not understand is that the servicemen and women are not the only ones serving their country, their spouse and children are also serving! They deserve a lot more honor and appreciation than they get, from both the public and our government.
I appreciate you reacting to this song.
You're soooo much fun!!! Thank you for brightening our days.
This was fantastic!!! Lee Greenwood asked THEM to record this with him. Home Free asked if they could include the USAF Singing Sargeants. Who could sat no to that ?! Simply stunning & beautifully done. 🥰
I got teary eyed just watching your reaction Jarvis. Yes, that’s Lee Greenwood who wrote and sang the original. He sounded great for 75! Those were the USAF Singing Sergeants accompanying Home Free. I loved it! Did you hear Adam’s sound of jets at the end? So cool. Thank your dad for his service by the way. God Bless Him and all vets and you too.
Amen, best country in the world. 🇺🇸🇺🇸✝️✝️
Lee Greenwood, the one who made this song famous, sounds so good.
Fantastic, heartfelt reaction, Jarvis! Never apologize for that! Home Free released a video of how this video was put together. They speak of what it means to them and to have been able to do this with Lee Greenwood himself. Darren Rust, their producer and oft-time arranger, augmented and adapted Chris Rupp's setting to highlight Lee and the USAF Singing Sergeants. He talks about getting tears in his eyes as he was working on this. Bottom line is you're in good company! Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/AVV2fToClsM/v-deo.html
Lee not only sang it...he WROTE it!
Thank your Father and your family for your service to our country! Salute! Loved your review!
You sir, are a patriot and an awesome American. Your dad, well, he's an American hero. Great video J, love this version of the song. Lee Greenwood is like 75 years old now, still has pipes!
Your commentary and reaction added another level of beautiful to this song. Homefree"s early videos often combined their amazing talent with a good bit of humour. As they mature, as a group, more and more heart and pride and honouring of classic artists only adds to the respect their fans have for them.
Great song and great performance by all. The very last part where they all bust out those incredible harmonies together always makes my eyes tear up.
Your reaction is how I feel every time I hear this song. I have loved it since I was little and now with Home Free and our service men and women, I cry and makes me feel extra emotion I didn't know was left. I truly love your reactions
My husband is also an AF brat. Loved his Dad and is very proud of him a Chief Master Sergeant RIP❤️. This song makes me tear up as well. "Subscribed!"
He is indeed the original artist to sing this song and he still sounds amazing singing into his late 70s!
Every time I hear this song, my mind goes back to 2001. This song sung by the great Lee Greenwood, helped heal our land & hearts after 9/11.
TEARS. When music pulls this kind of emotion it is so beautiful. Thank you Jarvis, Lee Greenwood, and HF!
Oof!! This song punches me in the feels EVERY TIME!! This song was played during my son’s Coin Ceremony when he graduated from Air Force BMT. I’m not a cryer but wow, the tears ROLLED down my face watching & listening during that moment. I sent this video to my son when he was deployed during the pandemic and he was blown away. This is, by far, the BEST version of this song and it gives me chills every time I hear it! And your tears? I was right there with you, my guy! Please thank your dad for serving! 🇺🇸
🙏🏾🙏🏾 I’m right there with you
I loved watching you see this. I can tell that you do love this song, and this one was special to you. It made you emotional... smiles and tears!
All I can say is POWERFUL !!!
Sooooooo great seeing so many rocking out to this! Possibly my favorite song ever. ❤️❤️❤️ to every veteran and member of veteran's family. Lee Greenwood is the original. I’m in tears with you. It always does that to me. 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 Tears of pride and joy are never a low note.
If you listen to the end Adam does the sounds of the jets flying over. I grew up right next to Travis AFB and the Blue Angels came every year for the air show and I remember them synchronizing this song with the flyover. It's awesome that Adam added that touch to the song.
This song brings chills and tears ever ytime. Not only is it BEAUTIFUL, but I am PROUD to be an AMERICAN...I saw Lee Greenwood do this song live in 1984, in Greenville SC, then later that night, he and his band came to Steak and ale where I worked, and I got to meet them all. I love Home Free for showing homage to great songs and great artists.
Yes That was Mr. Lee Greenwood. He is the original singer. The Singing Sergeants were also featured. Beautiful arrangement. Very touching tribute. Please thank your Father for everything he has done for us and our country
I cry too bro... they killed this. Tim’s bass at the end, Adam’s drumming, those built harmony chords.. my God. I love my country and this song stirs that emotion. 🇺🇸❤️
Isn't this amazing? Thank you always for reacting to Home Free. This one is particularly special.
I love your reactions. Not only are you technically informative, but your honest emotions light up my day.
Oh my gosh! You are the best! Thank you for your reactions to this awesome song! 🇺🇸♥️👏🏼
This version hypes you up and emotional at the same time! Great reaction! ❤🇺🇸
Thank you for your heartfelt reaction!😊 This is THE best rendition of Lee's song & I think that's partly because Darren Rust basically told Lee to "let her rip". He gave him the opportunity to sing it the way he felt it instead of the way he's sung it since 1984 & he certainly did that! With Lee being "let loose", plus the "Singing Sergeants" of the AF & Home Free, how could it be anything BUT spectacular!👏
I'd also like to ask you to react to another brand new (came out Oct. 4th) patriotic song🇺🇸 called "Broken Heroes" (Of a 20 Year War) about what our Vets are going through today.🇺🇸 It's amazing & my older son in Nashville recorded & produced all the vocals for this video. Here's the link:
ua-cam.com/video/A49n9cQjczQ/v-deo.html
Your reaction to this song hit my heart. My husband served in the US Air force for 23 years. His career ended after a helicopter crash and he is now 70% disabled. Our families love for this country has never wavered. We love all Americans, black, white, red and yellow. Skin color does not matter, all that matters is heart. God bless you and god bless the USA!
Thank you for your beautiful heartfelt reaction to a beautiful song!
