@@getraptureready777they have their place here and there...but those oldies come from a different place in life😭 songs these days are shallow and theatric...out of every 20 you're lucky to find 3 that's moving and powerful.
Amen, I wholeheartedly agree with you! I may turn on a Gospel radio station in my car once in a while, then I turn it right back to another station that has Preaching. There's nothing like good heartfelt Gospel songs.
I've been listening to The Imperials since I was 5 or 6. They've had so many wonderful singers, but Armond was the foundation to it. He still has one of the best bass voices I've ever hears. Sadly, I just found out that Joe Moscheo died a couple of years ago.
His Name is Wonderful, His Name is Wonderful, His Name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord. He is the mighty King, Master of everything, His Name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord. He's the Great Shepherd, The Rock of all Ages, Almighty God is He, Bow down before Him, Love and adore Him, His Name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord.
YO! One 0f my fav0rite s0ng by the Imperials! Once I had this s0ng in a cassette tape, n0w am happy t0 d0wnl0ad fr0m y0u...many thanks f0r sharing this great s0ng! I even saw them in a c0ncert when I was in my 20s. They came t0 the c0untry and 0ne 0f the singer is a Filipin0! Mabuhay!
I always thought from what I had heard that these guys were like the first contemporary group in Christian music, but this is extremely traditional southern gospel. I also now get why Elvis used them before he used the stamps. Also, who wrote this?
No. The original group was Jake Hess, Sherill Nielson, Gary McSpadden, Armond Morales and Henry Slaughter. Armond and Henry came from the Weatherfords in 1963. This group is from around 66-68. Roger Wiles, the baritone, was only there about 2 yrs.
Don't you think that's going a little overboard? I think we might be trying to be too clever here: "He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the counsel of the cunning comes quickly upon them." (Job 3:15). If you don't like the phrase "His name is Wonderful," how about thinking of it as "His name is wonderful"? Surely the name of Jesus Christ is full of wonder! (Psalm 66:2; Acts 4:12). God bless! =)
Well, I used to like this song somewhat until I realized that it's Biblically incorrect. It comes from a wrongly translated version that put a comma after the word "wonderful" in Isaiah 9:6.
Vocally, the best Imperial line up. Terry agrees.
We need these powerful songs back in the church, they hold more weight.
You're right.
Cliff Hotten Have you listened to Hillsong United? Chris Tomlin? Kari Jobe? Hillsong? Hillsong Worship? John Michael Talbot? Darlene Zschech?

Oh how Jesus must love hearing this song! I wish it was sung more often to Him in churches these days!
It's interesting seeing them here like this - I saw them in 1983. After the show they stayed and talked with folks. I'll never forget that show.
The oldies are better than we have now. sigh....
Less technological distractions and people lived in the moment. People are living a lot faster these days.

This must have been in the 60s sometime. Beautiful harmony.

If you like quartets, try the King's Heralds. Similar, but I think better.
Does not make this song incorrect. HIS name IS wonderful!!!
