I have seen freshly stocked trout in ponds and rivers bite immediately after being stocked and there have been times when the fish will not bite right after being stocked but the majority of the time they have bit right after they were put in, had that happen a few weeks ago and there was at least 100 from the last stocking right where I was, Ended up catching 35 that day!!! Great video, love all your content, trout content has to be one of my favorites!!!
sometimes they are fed right before they are stocked so greedy fisherman don't catch them all in one day and let others have an opportunity well after they have been stocked
I've fished Canyon Creek up in the Mogollon Rim. I've visited the hatchery up their many times going backbto the late 70s early 80s with my Dad..I actually discovered a spot on that creek thats alost a guaranteed hole. Ive never seen water flowing that hard anywhere near that area.must have been a hot day with snow melt happening. I was born in raised in S Scottsdale but left in 2021 for the Missouri Ozarks. Im watching your channel here and kind of missing my home right now. I grew up fishing at Knoll lake, Sometimes Woods Canyon. Ive been to Chevlon lake and stream a few times. Bear lake Willow Springs and my favorite spot for sure was Canyon Creek. When the fires of early 2000s went through their it was devastating. I went up there right after the fire and it was like a hellscape. Fortunately it didn't take out the hatchery or camp grounds. Ive also fished below the dam at Saguaro and Bartlett. Seven Springs is a very cool place to go and not too far w great hiking.
In my experience in lakes and ponds, stocked trout are in a frenzy to strike artificial baits, i.e. anything that moves, immediately upon being stocked. They go wild. That lasts until they get calm down or get a little acclimated, and then it's tougher to get them on lures, and time to move to still baits.
WHAT UP BRO?? SWEET SPOT!!! Yeah, It doesn't always take days after a stock for them to bite. I had good days right after a stock too. Cool video Bro. Bless!!!
I was at a small park lake in California , and was there when the stocking truck arrived. Unfortunately so we're like 20 other fishermen. The fish instantly went into bite mode, there was a bunch of guys on the other side of the pond shoulder to shoulder practically , 😢literally there was two or three hookups at a time, one after another it was wild. Guys were getting hooked up three cast in a row sometimes. That day they were biting as soon as they went into the lake but I have been at other lakes where they did not seem to want to bite anything for a day or two.

I like fishing lakes right after they stock a bunch of little trout. A couple years ago a hatchery truck pulled in as I was parking my truck after launching. The fish were 6 to 8 inch rainbows and I told him he was ringing the dinner bell for what I was going after. Big browns and lakers.
oddly, when the lakes get stocked, you would think its gonna be a good day. Most the times you can see the trout swimming along the banks but they just wont bite. Other times it's game on. Im thinking its could be just last time fed. puzzles me though.
"Guys that is the average here" 😭😭 In Georgia, you'd be lucky to see that size being stocked or even in the wild in the areas I fish. Our stock trout are between 8-12 inches lol. Great fishing and might have to get me some space bug!
Back in the 70s, I used to camp and fish with some guys in the hills of WV. One of the guys found out what food pellets the fisheries fed the trout and bought a bag and made cotton-reinforced dough balls out of it. It wasn't even any sport; you just threw the dough ball into the hole and waited a minute until the stocked fish smelled and ate it. They limited out in a few hours. It was funny seeing the tank truck full of fish lumbering down those mountain roads with 15 old cars and trucks following along! You would see the golden trout from the road driving by, stop, throw him a dough ball, put him in the cooler, and drive on. The thing was, the fresh-stocked fish didn't really taste all that good; they tasted as the dough balls smelled. If you wanted some real sport and to get away from the crowds, you could get someone to drive you up the mountain to the head of the streams and then hike down until you found some deeper water, there you could catch some true natives, they were smaller, but they sure tasted good!
@@dee-k8w several flathead, lots of channel cats, blue gills, large mouth bass, and even once an endangered species called some kind of chub, but it apparently was a rare fish and not many left here in Arizona, so I am not greedy about my spots and I hope someone takes their kids and let's them catch some fish.
