Another great video with great scenery. Always wanted to drive one of those little pusher boats they use in the log booms. Looks like a lot of fun. Well, one cannot do everything, and driving semis in the good old days was a great experience as well.
Great music for the lead in.I worked coastal tugs for 40 years.I think that tug is the old Ocaen Clipper.Used to be a Rivtow boat.An old deckhand of mine is a captain on her.
Had a trigger moment tonight.
Watching a Global news story where a usual actor was proclaiming the last stand of old growth was being logged.
I did notice the proffesional made stumps, including some 5-6 foot cedar stumps.
Keep cutting , hope the permits continue in BC.
I picked up some cedar 1by 4’s from Home Depot here in Sherwood Oregon… I noticed they had tight grain, in the 3 1/2 inch width over 200 growth rings! The clerk told me it was Canadian cedar. Beautiful stuff, straight grain and no knots. Love it! Thanks Bjorne.

Looking at that view you can clearly see that proper management of our Forests pay huge dividends for the future. We have work to last out our lifetimes and our children's lifetimes if managed properly .

What a great reel had a slice of a tree fellas bush life, I really liked seeing the huge crane barges loading up with logs, it's incredible that those barges can hold up to 3000 tons of logs when fully loaded yeah. I think the Raven that you filmed "nice spotting by the way" sounded similar to the Northern Raven, it sure was a kool low gurgle call the Raven made.
Cripes imagine walking into that Black Bear you filmed from the helicopter, it looked pretty darn big from up at the height where you were flying over it, I'd hate to see how massive that Black Bear would look if facing it on the ground!

That cut block where you showed us the old heli pad doesn't look like they took any logs out. It also looks very small for all the work of putting in a pad?
What protection do you have against any bear attacks? Or is it even an issue?

Whats ships destination?
It just runs the inner coastal waters down towards Vancouver where the mills are located. Part of that will get sorted for export on ocean going log ships that make this barge look like something you played with in the bathtub.

It makes me seeth with anger when they (we all know who they are) try to tell people (sheep) that there is no more old growth or that it is running out, rent yourselves a float plane out of Campbell River fly due East over Toba Inlet then take a left and start flying North all the way up to Rivers Inlet and let the old growth tell you the true story 😊
(9:58) so those dead trees are the spruce? - not much of it in the population. Aside from its size, why are we taking the most hard to get to wood? Because it's close to ports, markets? And so now a big market globally for super big wood? 2X4s are still 2X4.
Because it's the end of the world so we might as well strip high elevation, extremely slow-growth old-growth?

Unfortunately, yes most of it is at this point in time. Don't think anyone has to say why in either of the countries you mentioned. Even the export side of the house is sucking in several areas and species now.
