- Had a mini split with a communications fault. Everything points to board failure and we are going to replace both indoor and outdoor boards. Let’s see what we get Into

love Air Con easy to work on and their warranty and tech support is fantastic
love waking up to your videos
Good to know they have boards. Just had a Gree LIVV smoke R1 on the board( only one on those) installed new in April. NO BOARDS AVAILABLE!!
They gave me a condenser!👍
Didn't know Milwaukee made cordless hammers, heading to the store.
🤣🤣👌
Hammer Drill :D
The Philips bit knocks the knock outs like butter 🧈
The m12 fuel knock out tool lol

A few weeks ago I got to replace the board in the condensing unit on a Mr. Cool mini split, wasn’t too bad. The original board fried because the solar company that ran the new electrical to the mini spit wired it for 230v (it was rated for 115v). This solar company covered the cost and customer was happy.
Awesome video Dave. Pretty straight forward, live it.
Good to see you survived the South Dakota adventure with no major trauma.
YES! No screws left over...seems there's aways one!!👍
There's always screws left over on those! Nice job.
Great video man! Between the toasty cold line and the Buffalo in the butt thing I nearly shot hot coffee out my nose 🤣 laughing.
Hey David, stumbled across your channel, glad you like our units! If you ever have a issue you know where to call - Jake
Question how do you inspect it with a meter where do you place it ,and what range would you place it at?
heaps of connections those cables from PCB to PCB 😂 and thats the beauty of INVERTER
In the disconect, your only aloud one wire under each screw per NEC unless it is a clamping type screw and these are not clamping type. Or if the listing and labeling instructions say otherwise.
Love the hammer selection 🤙🏼
Toasty cold, frosty hot, whatever gets you through the day 😂
Sir, i would like to ask about the problem of the daikin multi split indoor unit working fine and not blinking but the outdoor compressor and fan are not working, the PCB is also problem ?
i hope you can give me an explanation so that i can know about this knowledge, Thank you
Love that cordless Milwaukee hammer ... Amazon here I come 😂😅🤣 Good vid ...
Philips tip ⚡️⚡️
""wire go into a specific connector, so you really cant mess them up"".. I just heard a millions of people say "hold my beer" 🤣🤪
We’re can I get one of those replacement boards do you have the part number
Like the Mitsubishi MXZ series power pcb... a pain in the butt to swap. The worst is when the o.unit is installed in a bad place to reach. Coming from refrigeration, I can't express enough how I hate the mini-split world 😒
Hi bro from west Alabama
Looks like that was a high power resistor that blew, likely because something upstream of it went short circuit and the resistor became the fuse essentially.
probably one of the big power mosfet under the heat sink went POOF. while it could have been from lightning/power surge, probably just bad designed board, lack of thermal grease/cooling issue, vibration loosening/solder fracture. It's really hard to say without seeing the failure and multiples of them, but as quickly as they suggested replacing both boards and sent new? probably well known issues 🤔

We have a 2 zone Air-Con mini split.
One of the inside wall units has stopped cooling. Repair man said it’s the electric board on inside unit. They’ve been trying to secure a replacement one but no luck. Is it possible to replace just the unit in one zone only? Does it need to be Air-Con?
What brand mini split do you like the best for longevity parts serviceable and tech support
In Germany it definitely is Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric
@@B1gA1 thanks my personal is Mitsubishi trued and true mini split
Mitsubishi all day
I just had an hvac contractor quote me $647. Labor to install a new board on my condensing unit!!
Seems fair to me.
Well happy Sunday UA-cam land it is kind of funny how a mini split can be a major pain in the butt
It’s all the different branding and the guessing game of what’s failed and if you can get it. Fun times.
When I get a call for ductless or communicating heat pumps, it’s going to be the board, or EEV power head shorted.
The milwaukee m12 hammer for the win
yeah baby.....lol
With Philips tip. Works every time
Toasty cold 👍🏽
Coming from Aus, it’s surprising that your supply is that unstable. Split systems are pretty common here
The industry standard here is a national gas furnace with a coil and a condensing unit very simple and work well. The mini splits and Vrv units have been around they are just getting popular here last 10 years
I really don't understand why they don't do minimal conformal coating on the boards to prevent corrosion...
I'm just not a fan of those mini splits. Good repair. Surge protector is a great idea, those things should have one built-in with all that electronics.
It may not have been a power surge that took this out. It looks like something shorted across the 310 volt DC power supply. While these units have surge protection (there are three surge protection elements on the board itself), if a bad enough surge hits, it will still need the board replaced as the surge protectors on the board will be destroyed and likely cause other damage. With the external unit, you have additional protection and a cheaper repair.
@@jrmcferren Interesting, thanks for your reply 👍
Pretty sure it says not to cut the wires leave them long at least that what mine said
Dude can you do a video about how you have your tool bag set up
Hi, I have a Fujitsu mini split that rarely gets used for a bonus room. I went to turn it on then other day and it does nothing! Flipped the breaker and changed out remote batteries and nothing turns on. Could I have a bad board on the inside air handler unit or something else wrong? Thanks
Hard to tell without being there.
Check for power if you have a meter.
@NorCal-refrigeration ok. If my outside units board is bad will it cause the inside unit to not power on?
@@kylegibson326 yes it can
Where can i get the parts from

👍👍👍
Looks like a high voltage cap that blew
I’ve found Haier also good to work with as well. They’re jumper has to be cut on the inside boards. Out of curiosity do you charge/ bake into your cost the time spent working out the warranty board acquisition with the manufacturer? I do here in Ga. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I find very helpful.
Add all the time together
@@NorCal-refrigeration Nice Job.. question? Did a power surge kill the original board? I doubt you could know for sure I'm just asking
@@salrusso1233 I think so
Is there any joker boards?
No idea
It's called a refrigeration hammer
It works like a champ. Philips bit.
That is shit-the-bed-otitus if I’ve Evers
seen it. Love diagnosing minis, well not really.
nor cal doing residential ? 🤔😲
It’s an office
@@NorCal-refrigeration ahhhh....

298 thumbs up
Them bloody mini splits , you spend more time unscrewing and taking off panels than doing actual work on the unit .
And once you've spent a couple hours biting your tail and cursing like a sailor , the OEM will just say : You gotta change the board ... ugh !
Best comment ⚡️⚡️😂😂😂
Fujitsu is a joke the three boards suck they are a nightmare but Mitsubishi is easy easy
agree
Howuch.should.i.oay for a tech to replace two boards
Hi, I was wondering for anyone that had a circuit board being fried or not working issue as im facing currently myself... Did your indoor air condtioner unit on the wall still turn on and the fan mode still work? Just trying to confirm if it is indeed a board problem im facing.
The indoor unit was running.
@@NorCal-refrigeration Thanks champions.
