Procuring an unproven platform like KF 21 Boramae is a gamble, KAI FA50 block 20 is a better choice at a situation where time is running out and where an external threat is obviously imminent. Adding capabilities like anti submarine and electronic warfare on FA50 will make this aircraft more formidable and most sought after MRF in the world.
@user-tm5uo9hc2h we need FA50 for training the pilot at the same time fighter jet...if you direct use the MRF the pilot cant use it correctly...different specifications and speeds...

Our Airforce plans to acquire between 24 to 40+ MRF's in the near future.(don't know when exactly it will happen though) So 100% sure, if they go ahead in purchasing that many fighter jets, they're gonna need at least 1 squadron of advance jet trainers. (dedicated) Can you use the KF-21 fighter as an ADVANCED JET TRAINER? Anybody who says yes is a big fool.
Just speculating here, I think the general idea is to restore all the original 12 units of Block10 FA-50's to operational status, so they can be used solely for "advanced jet training," and with the new FA-50's,(Block 20) IF it ever materializes, would be used in secondary roles, like Air Combat Patrol, Close Air Support, Strike Missions aircraft, Reconnaissance, Buddy-Refuelling(for our MRF's) and if need be, as advanced jet trainers too, (if some/many Orig. FA-50's are unavailable & undergoing preventive maintenance works/repairs) and other roles that our Airforce deems this aircraft can perform. This act or kind of thinking would be similar to the Polish Airforce move to acquire 48 units of the Block 20 variant of the FA-50, which is to do dual roles as advanced jet trainers and light jet fighters.

why not develop a FA50 block 70..same size of the F16 and platform...now you can say advance 4.5 gen MRF...or 5th gen.MRF....just saying...
