Is a ship designed for the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea suitable for the Philippines? I can already see some shortfalls, like no towed array. Hull mounted sonar only means that it has no way to detect submarines under deep water thermocline. In Turkiye, it does not matter because the seas are shallow, no thermocline to hide behind but Philippines is just next door to the deep water South China sea which does have thermoclines. Hull mounted sonar only would mean it would have trouble detecting hiding submarines.
