    Excellent comparison.
    Could you please include aspect of
    1. Open source code ,
    2. Track record of company (or reputation of company) ,
    3. Time test (How long they are in business ),
    4. Vulnerabilities or security breaches in past.
    5. Number of coins supports
    Also Have you considered Bit Box 2 as well?
    Also i always got questions why can't we have 2FA option along Hardware wallet. It will be more secured.
    Do we have Multisig wallet in market?

      There was a tremendous amount of FUD and misunderstanding of what Ledger was trying to accomplish. "Shamir's Secret Sharing" is a very old and trusted way of protecting keys. Ledger was offering a way to use SSS and keep the phrase shards safe and separated on three independent servers. That would protect against loss or destruction. The problem is actually that the government can show up with a warrant and force Ledger to retrieve and turn over the shards. Of course they can also show up at your house and demand a copy of your seed phrase and you either produce it or go to jail. If you think the government is after you, you nee to find something with no seed phrase at all.

    wish you had covered coldcard. Also, Ledger is looking a little more suspect now after they announced their recovery service which seemingly confirms that they can get your recovery phrase off the ledger device despite the secure element chip

    • @jamesthompson3099
      @jamesthompson3099 Рік тому

      I do not work for Ledger but I think you misunderstand the recovery program. It uses a fully encrypted backup that is then separated into three parts and stored with three independent servers. Two of three are needed to recover the coins. Ledger does NOT get your phrases or anything else from your Ledger wallet. They presented it very poorly. Please Google "Shamir's Secret Sharing" to see the method they are using. The actual downside, which Ledger admitted to, is that if the government shows up with a warrant, Ledger may be obligated to retrieve the keys from storage providers and give them to the government. If you are worried about that, yes, this would not be a good solution. Of course the government can just come to your door and demand your recovery phrase and you either turn it over or go to prison so there's that. If you have written it down, it is a seizable document. Ledger was just trying to create a secure place to store the phrase where it would not get lost or destroyed.

      I checked out the Tangem Twitter account and they have top 10 questions. One of them is can you use your cards with multiple devices? The answer was yes you just need to download the Tangem app on your new device and then scan your card I would hold onto the iPhone and make sure this works before you toss it. There’s really no way to import a Tangem wallet into anything else since there is no back up phrase so make sure the new device syncs up first.

    I’d chalk out trezor model one as it requires to enter pin on computer instead of device.? Thoughts?

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  Рік тому +2

      Yes I have heard this argument. It does introduce risk when you are entering the pin from your computer due to key loggers and such. However, I think the combination of the keypad number showing on the device and the keypad on your computer screen showing blank key does obfuscate the pin entry. Also the pin is only for local access and the number position changes each time, so if someone came in and stole your device, whatever they recorded from your computer as far as your pin entry would be useless for the next entry.

    I recently bought an ellipal and I regret it. Sent stellar to the wallet in three transactions. the first two appear in the wallet, the third does not even after a day. I checked the block and the tokens are all there. Any idea how to get all my tokens off the block and into the wallet? Once I recover my tokens I'm done with the ellipal. Nice idea but this flaw is unacceptable. Thanks I hope you can help me.

    • @CryptoDad
      @CryptoDad  Рік тому

      Probably just going to have to wait a few days and see if that last transaction shows up. And then simply do an outgoing "send" if you want to empty out the wallet. Worst case scenario, you can take the backup phrase of the Ellipal and use it to restore a different wallet, such as a ledger or a Trezor. I'm assuming from there you'll have full access to all of the wallets that you generated using the Ellipal.

    How does a user know FOR SURE that nobody at Tangem or Ballet saved a list of addresses and keys for the wallets they made? I'd give that kind of security an F. There's no way to be 100% sure nobody at the company kept the address and key for your card, and if you lose the cards your coins are gone. With a hardware wallet, especially an open source hardware wallet, you know the addresses and keys were generated on the device with no chance of malicious code sharing or stealing that info, and you can back up your seed in a safe so that even if the device gets lost, stolen or damaged, your crypto is secure and can be recovered.
