The Weeknd‘s “Blinding Lights” rose to number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart on March 30. It’s the fifth chart-topper in the R&B singer’s career, but it’s the 23rd chart-topper for one of the men behind the song: co-writer and producer Max Martin, who has helped shape pop music for more than two decades.

You know what would be really cool? If you recreated a really old song like from the 70s with acoustic plugins like ample guitar, NI Studio Drummer/Abbey Road, Lounge Lizard, orchestral sounds, and then quick mix with those old vintage compression, eq, and reverb simulator plugins. :) I heard a song from a new movie recently that got me thinking about all the sounds. Check out Alice Cooper "I Never Cry". I believe this song made it to Billboard top 10, so it was definitely considered a pop song for its time. ;) You don't have to do that one, but just an example how those 70s tunes sounded so unique.
