Hi Sirish, have some feedback on your review: You missed taking about the Boot space, dint even open. Missed talking about things like 3 point seat belt for middle passenger, hand/elbow rest front and rear, glove box, door pads, alloy design etc. You also need to talk a little more about it's design since it's an all new car. Generally ur reviews will be more skewed towards driving, engine etc since u r basically a racer, but it's better to have balance by including about all above points of an all new car which will it an holistic and detailed review. Thanks.
What you need is available with channels like Autoportal and Ashish Masih Cars... This channel focuses on performance and driving dynamics which true enthusiasts love.... But your feedback was honestly valuable.... Take and drive safe.... 😊
Had lots of respect for sirish but this one felt completely biased. He feels the age old vento is value for money when the top end turbo torque converter costs 16L on road while the Verna costs 16L as well with the same turbo engine but a DCT and has more equipment such as push button start stop, keyless entry, sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging pad, full digital speedometer, all disc brakes and the list goes on and on. I would pay 2 lakhs more than the vento for these features and the state of art DCT gearbox. Yes I’m an enthusiast and I should agree that the vento drives better and has the better engine but not at this cost where it’s super pricey and I get a 10 year old model from a manufacturer like VW? I can understand sirish was rallying polo so he has a soft corner for VW cars but not at the cost of being biased to a car like Honda city. Yes it may have body roll more compared to vento but Honda atleast want to give india a brand new global model and if you are fine with VW giving the same old car for 10 years then you should be fine with Honda city ew engine which you referred to as the *same* engine with a DOHC block. It’s much more fun than a turbo engine and the car is much bigger and has lots of features and as much as I love to drive, I would want a car which is also updated and Honda has given the new city so many good things which you can’t talk about but you talk about it not being great because of not getting wider tyres and having body roll and an NA engine? Atleast Honda took the efforts of bringing a brand new car unlike the brand VW for which you’re biased. Anyways I will agree that it drives better but please don’t call it value for money or don’t just talk good about vento and talk bad about city by being biased. Be fair to a car that has the best NA 1.5L engine in India.
Even 10 year old VW is better. Other brands need to work on driving feel. They know that indians don't care for that, so they give ton of features. VW will not change its focus and launch cars that are not driver oriented. Years don't matter. Still EP3 Civic type R of 2002 is amazing to drive. Age does not matter if other platforms and chassis are still rubbish. It is super easy to change exterior looks and call it a new model without working on the chassis. Honda puts huge efforts into the Civic and Accord since it sells so much. But City is a car for developing markets with lower sales figures(Accord sells 30k units PER MONTH). So there isn't much change for those who look at platform changes.
Balram Okay I agree with the fact that Vento drives better but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are better cars. They still get only 2 & 4 airbags at 2020 and don’t tell me they have build quality because they secured only a 4 star NCAP while city has secured a 5 star ASEAN NCAP. So let me shoot a question. If VW really wants to give India proper cars and not change its focus then why not give us diese engines now? Why not give us the amazing dual clutch and change it to a torque converter? They are just giving us one engine option and that’s a shame when other brands give so many. Yes you may be right that changing the design and using the same platform is still not brand new but atleast other brands take the efforts to do that atleast while VW and Skoda sell us the car rolling out of the same platform for a price equivalent to the newer models of brands. They are looting money from us which is why the sales are so low. You talk about octavia, kodiaq, Passat and Il say yes they are committed to that segment and give us all new MQB platform with amazing engines and chasis but the lower end they just loot us and there are no two ways about it.
Agreed. my dad's taking delivery of city next week. VW fans never think about after sales and reliability. VW and Skoda can never match the reliability of a Honda in any given segment.
In the 18-20 lakhs segment, in order to beat SUVs, City needs 1. Ventilated seats 2. Panoramic sunroof 3. Audio system with subwoofer. Honda cannot afford to charge a premium with skipping features in India any more. Look at Creta/Seltos. They have all these. And if city can add a sliding driver arm rest too to above list, the City will become a perfect package against these SUVs.
The AC is powerful enough so that you don't need ventilated seats. Indian climate is tropic and you don't need a panoramic sunroof as you aren't even going to drive with your windows down then how about sunroof, panaromic ones are way overrated. I test drove it. You aren't gonna shift gears given the tall ratio you are going to drive it in 3rd for most part in city traffic. Only thing it actually misses is an adjustable lumbar support.
Sirish Chandran I don’t know. It falls in a no man’s land now. If I want more driver involvement I would go with a rapid tsi. If I want more back seat comfort I would go with the new Creta. Better underthigh support and a reclinable backrest, with a good ride and more equipment. It is no longer a no-brainer as in 2011-12.
Looks good... But that's it if I have to go by your words.. I don't understand why Honda won't use wider tyres.. Their cars always come across as under tyred. But since it is a City, it'll sell, doesn't matter what price.. That's how Indian car market is..
@@swamiboo9375 Why did Innova sell even when they priced the car at 30 lakhs ? Why are these cars resale value high ? Auto channels should also tell us about after sales services, maintenance for long run and reliability ? Do enthus need reliable cars ? Rapid TSI is quicker
It revs out better, but doesn't accelerate as quickly as the TSI engine
