I live near Diamond Harbour, a city towards the mouth of Ganga into Bay of Bengal. Each monsoon, we see so many dolphins gather up and hunt migratory "Ilish"(species of herring), that come all the way from ocean to spawn. The water here is brackish, and very polluted. The place is not far from one of the biggest ports in India, Haldia. Although the number of dolphin coming each year has been decreasing. I hope somebody documents this phenomena through a documentary, before it's gone
by looking at the subtitles i can see how the locals what they are saying are misinterpreted.. they are saying something else and the subtitles are saying something else
THanks to Modiji for sticking to his promise. The Ganga is at the heart of Hindu religion. Somewhere down the line during Mughal and Colonial era, the Hindus fell into wrong teachings that dumping anything into Ganga will make it holy. But since 2014, we are proud of the people around Ganga and the Govt for continuously cleaning up the soul of India. Thanks for covering this.

Ganges is English name for Ganga so technically both are correct. like Sindhu river is called Indus river in English. Edit:- India is also given by British go and change it to bahrat and Hindu is given by persion go and change it to Sanatan. I am just saying that Ganges is correct for them not for us. And if you have any problem with that go and protest in England or in UN not debet with me. I am not going to reply anyone so please not try to debate with me.

One of the most important aspects of improving water quality is stopping industry runoff or at least treating the water before it is discharged into the river. No matter how many sacrifices the people make, if the industries aren't pressured to take steps to prevent pollution, the change will seem minimal. From this video, it seems that not much has changed in that regard.
The problem is industry dumps , chemicals being released into the Ganga river by these huge multiple billion dollar corporations. Coco-cola and Pepsi are the biggest polluters.

@@shikshapandey8196 there is no such thing as not polluting. You and I both pollute. Just because you dump your garbage in a dustbin doesn't mean it vanishes into thin air. Your garbage and my garbage ends up either in a landfield somewhere, floats through a river where it's dumped or at best is burned down so that the smoke rises up in the air and depletes the ozone layer slowly. So to advise someone not to pollute is to ask them to do the impossible. We as citizens of India have not yet fully gone plastic free...let alone stop polluting as a whole.
plant atleast 3 trees every birthday near your house and save the environment. If you are 20 and live upto 80 years and 1 out of every 3 trees survive then you would have planted 60 trees or maybe more.
Ganga was the river around which the second wave of the Indian civilization was made. It is where a lot of our culture and beliefs come from. It is holy not because of religious reasons but because of its selfless gift of life for one of the oldest civilizations still alive today. We need to save it and all the life within it not because of its holy nature but because we will die without it.
Three main needs to make Ganga the ancient Ganga 1. Heavy plantation to the river basins 2. Factory waste Water treatment 3. All humans have to join hands to save the endangered flora and fauna and the native aqua life.
I was watching Devom ke dev mahadev; a serial about lord shiva, an episode in it made me feel concerned about current status of ganga, I knew I can not bring much change to ganga river but I wanted to know what is happening. And this video made me feel happy, feels like we humans have started to acknowledge the value of our nature. Let me take this time to promise myself that I will help preserve our natural assets. ❤
Names of towns, rivers, mountains etc... are different depending on the language it is spoken in. Nothing stops you from using the indian name though, as long as it's understood well :>. I'm sure it's even the case in India between the many different languages, that many towns or natural places are called differently. You should see how we butcher english towns in France... though this tendency is disappearing. Winchester as Bicêtre stays funny :>.

I strongly suggest that you watch the truly uplifting and heartwarming videos by Andrew Millison on India's Water Revolution (Paani Foundation) and India's Permaculture Revolution from a few weeks ago [3 year update] showing how thousand of dying Indian villages in arid regions Maharashtra etc. where they rely on the 3 months of Monsoons for all their water - and were suffering severe drought 5 years ago - transformed their situations so rapidly - using Rainwater Conservation techniques to recharge the groundwater etc. That was done 3 years ago. This years updates show how having solved their water problems, they have used organic permaculture, collective bargaining for fertilizers and seeds, leading to amazing diversity of crops, increases in yield, elimination of harmful pesticides, and amazing increase in biodiversity - as well as resilience - meaning a year of normal rainfall will allow them to survive two years of drought if that happens.
Twice they mentioned "after 2014". We all know what happed in india after 2014. Thank you modiji for Your hard work and vision ... Forever in your debt

As someone said; clean water gives energy and happiness to humans and above all, the animals. Happy to see young ones are interested to do so, great job guys!
I believe in India! The most beautiful and cultural rich country! Jai maha Bharat!
Thank you 😊
Inspiring iniative, really needed, I'm from north east Arunachal Pradesh visited agra once and got really disappointed that the famous river which we heard about since birth was not as thought of. Hope through this initiative will get to see a glimpse of the historical Ganga in its natural form
Yes !!!
The river in Agra is Yamuna. It's still bad.
for sure!
The NEP absolutely has to embed Japan's learning construct: kids cleaning their school classrooms, premises and bathrooms as well. Fresh water is life
I have been hearing of this namami gange project since long, but didn't knew about it's achievements until i saw this video.
Brilliant effort 🙏...now the speed and scale has to be increased... Ganga is our mother, a mother we love, taking care of her is the duty of every Indian! 🇮🇳
What has happened to Uma Bharti?

Thank you all who are working on restoring this magnificent river! I feel proud that someone is actually capable of doing all this.

It's not Ganges, its GANGA.

You'd belive it instantly if instead they said that 90% of Indians don't have toilets or that minorities don't have a voice here, right? We don't need your kudos, man.
Kudos to the government of india
One of the most important aspects of improving water quality is stopping industry runoff or at least treating the water before it is discharged into the river. No matter how many sacrifices the people make, if the industries aren't pressured to take steps to prevent pollution, the change will seem minimal. From this video, it seems that not much has changed in that regard.
This video doesn't show it but massive changes have been made to stop such polluting inflows by building huge STPs.
I wish the same is implemented in Musi in Hyderabad and Godavari in Rajahmundry
The people of India are cleaning their holy river. It's just dern inspirational.
That's amazing to hear and lets you know a problem will most likely be solved. When a government problem becomes a movement of the people!!!
The problem is industry dumps , chemicals being released into the Ganga river by these huge multiple billion dollar corporations. Coco-cola and Pepsi are the biggest polluters.
Brilliant to see, well done to everyone involved. It is so important
Great work. Kudos to everyone involved.
I hope it keeps going. Return of wildlife and planting (a diverse mix of local) plants will help keep the public engaged.

that is great to see. hats off to India
As a citizen I also want to be a part of it and do my bit of contribution.
Not polluting and encouraging others not to pollute will be the biggest contribution, not only to Ganga but to other rivers also ...
Kicking anyone taking a leak on the banks would be a good start.
@@shikshapandey8196 that’s not enough, not even worth it honestly.
plant atleast 3 trees every birthday near your house and save the environment. If you are 20 and live upto 80 years and 1 out of every 3 trees survive then you would have planted 60 trees or maybe more.
though we are far from the aim i hope one day we can restore the aquatic life and clean the river which gave life to so many indian generations.
India will never be clean. Stop dreaming f f s
River ganga is the third holiest river for me.
1. Saraswati river
2. Sindhu river
Three main needs to make Ganga the ancient Ganga
1. Heavy plantation to the river basins
2. Factory waste Water treatment
3. All humans have to join hands to save the endangered flora and fauna and the native aqua life.
Good effort…to restore the Ganga. Nurture our planet! ❤❤
I was watching Devom ke dev mahadev; a serial about lord shiva, an episode in it made me feel concerned about current status of ganga, I knew I can not bring much change to ganga river but I wanted to know what is happening.
