Great reaction guys...., definitely thought provoking. Of all the visuals in the video, very few if any discuss the section with Troy's "ancestral ghost" in the library with all the butterflies. I interpret this as an element of the "butterfly effect". Meaning not only the number of ancestors, but the number of random events that occurred during your ancestorial history that led you and all of us to exist. Mind boggling!
I must have seen a hundred reactions to this song and video, and still I keep finding music, video and reactions very entertaining. I cannot wait for the Yesterwynde album.
Nice reaction. The discussion that you had at the end of the video just goes to prove that the music Thuomas writes is thought provoking and has deep meaning. Like you I hope I get to see them live. I was lucky enough to see them once. Let’s hope that their break from touring is only temporary.
Your reactions are a lot of fun as we have all been there with Nightwish…I’m 72 and just discovered them a year and a half ago and they are top of my bucket list to go from Canada to see them hopefully live in Finland when they decide to tour again 🤞🤞
Hey Guys, greetings from UK, and welcome back 😊 I think I read that they will be releasing two more songs from the album before it comes out in September We are the perfume of the timeless, last sighs (orgasms?) of a million loves As well as looking backwards, this song also advocates looking forwards as we will be the 'dust on their palms' of future generations. (ashes to ashes, dust to dust) Timeless...
"Ghost Love Score" is a bit over ten minutes as performed in concert - but some of it is cut from the concert addition. In concert, it is displayed behind them. "The Last ride of the Day" is just short of 10 minutes. NW has shorter songs, however there are two longer songs that are significant. "The Poet and the Pendulum" is around 15 minutes, but don't listen to it without getting the backstory because the song is essentially a musical suicide of the keyboard player (Tuomas) who writes all the music. The backstory is important. The longest song, I think, is "The Greatest Show on Earth" at around 21 minutes. It's about the Big Bang, creation of pretty much everything including the Earth, and the evolution up to now. Marko was still in the band then. Floor sang, Marko sang, and Troy sang. Usually sung at the close of a concert. There are two powerful versions. The one in Tampere, Finland is quite a show, however they start rolling credits before the final words are spoken. The one in Wembley is interesting for the different instruments used AND because the person speaking at the end is on stage. I've seen some people react to one half at Tampere, then switch to the Wembley version for the end. Most people say that even long songs don't seem to actually last as long as they are. Viewers get invested and don't feel the time pass.
Thank you continuing with Nightwish ! You said you want some heavy Nightwish once. So please gon on with -Romanticide and Song for myself Wacken 2013 - Yours is an empty hope Wembley 2015 - Debil and the deep dark ocean Buenos Aires 2018 - Weak fantasy 2015 Tampere -Tribal live compilation ( Great riffs and drumming) And a real agressiv masterp❣️ No video only the recording. -Master passion greed
Very thoughtful and insightful reaction to this song and video. Saw them live on last tour (2nd row in a smaller venue) and they were incredible. So tight musically and Floor’s vocals are so much more powerful and breathtaking live. Do whatever needs done to see them when they tour next. Subscribed 🤘
This is what unconstrained genius looks and sounds like. Tuomas is a visionary and he does exactly what he pleases and goes wherever his muse takes him. It's on us to keep up and follow along. That he leaves many behind is no surprise. This... this composition is fucking epic. And it's as deep as the Marianas Trench and with more layers than a baklava. You can watch and listen to this 50 times and still be rewarded with new information, new insights. The owl - avatar of Athena, goddess of wisdom. Floors plunge and deep dive into a blank page of an edition of Darwin’s On the Origin of the Species. The cloud of butterflies represents the myriad of the smallest events upon which our existence turns (the butterfly effect). The butterfly was also regarded as an emblem of the soul by the ancient Greeks. Even the relentless pace of the beat symbolizing the inevitability of the passage of time, the densely layered chorus of our ancestors, the ghostly presentation of the band members. Troy's deeply emotional rendering of the last verse. The ghostly sighs of the chorus at the very end as we embrace the light in our final moments. Layers upon layers and multiple meanings, folks. Nightwish doesn’t make songs or albums - in recent years, they have published portfolios of art where the nature of our existence is the subject matter. This, it would seem, has been disappointing to a number of the members of the community. I’ve seen so many complaints about this masterpiece coming from people who have little to no understanding of what’s going on. If you’re here for Floor or the head bang, then you’re most likely going to be disappointed and you’ll find lesser amusements available to you elsewhere. Tuomas, Floor and Nightwish doesn’t need your approval. For some, this has moved past their understanding or inclination to understand. Tuomas is an erudite man with a deep love of this world and for this existence. He is a man hungry for comprehension, for understanding and for love. This existence is awesome if you would only take the time to grasp for understanding. The glittering beauty of mathematics, music as the voice of God, the natural world with its "endless forms most beautiful". It's all there for the beholding. But you have to reach out for it, grasp it, you must have a savage thirst for comprehension as the price of admission. This quote from Richard Dawkins from The Greatest Show on Earth is the perfect expression of what Tuomas is up to: “After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn’t it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it?"
Nightwish dont dissapoint "did you feel the ghost energy song" I listened to this song many many times by now, and it is one i like to listen to with my headphones or without, its really a good song, when i can do so to me. Some say Floors voice is low in the mix, and i can agree its hard to get all words she sing, but if you look at it soundwise it sounds amazing!! and after a listen or 2, you know most of lyrics, and its no problem at all, its done fully on purpose for the sound experince of it, and Floor being part of the ancestor choir.. cant wait for rest of album!! Yesterwynde is the opening track on new album, i belive its only like a intro, its a little over 2 min long, #2 on album then is a almost 10 min song, thats proberly another epic!! #3 is where i think they bring in a heavy track, and this Perfume of the timeless is #5.. so i think its gonna be a good mix of heavy songs, Epics, and maybe a full balled.. Perfume of the timeless, well its almonst a ghost energy song right, telling all these ancestors is around in a timeless world, being around you still, and yourvthe perfume, also a message that your existens matters!! i feel tuomas also put in a little message that mankind could do better still, Einstein turn to ape.. The title of the album is a word made by band member Troy Donockley, which Holopainen describes as the feeling of time, history, memory, and being connected to past generation, who have "all had their lives, their ups and downs, and they don't exist anymore, except as atoms scattered all over the universe. And we're going to be in that state pretty soon as well. So that should give you something to think about." Holopainen has described the album as being about humanism, history, and the inspiration thereof, and that outlook of the album is positive and optimistic ] Track listing Yesterwynde: release date 20th September 2024 All tracks are written by Tuomas Holopainen. Great reaction guys. Some reactors have problem hearing Floor's voice. I love to hear her clearer but not anymore.(GODDESS)❤😇😇 I believe Tuomas aka the Metal Mozart wants people to listen more, not one or two times. Much more and now I love this Epic song even more 😊❤❤ I know the lyrics and the melody is stuck in my head 😮😮❤❤. Brilliant 👏 Tuomas and Nightwish.
Great reaction! We know Nightwish, their mastery in anything they do; everything they do has a purpose case in point Floor’s vocals “blending in”! We love Nightwish like no other, so we should NOT BE SURPRISED, but I for one was absolutely floored, mind blown into millions of pieces 🤯, again! After consuming daily fast food music, Nightwish takes us to the fanciest restaurant serving an unmatched 12-course experience - cannot wait for September 💙 IMHO there has never been, there will never be, another Tuomas Holopainen; Nightwish; Floor!
Maybe you know that Tuomas was about to write the GSoE to be 45 min long but had to shorten it to fit on an album side. So there are long songs and videos by them. This he wrote to be single on the new 2024 album. Ville Lipiäinen is a master of music videos.
Great reactions guys. Dont think you have sounded out Epica in the past, but would love to hear your thoughts. Dutch symphonic metal (or kind of), and friends of Floor. In fact, worth checking out Sancta Terra live with Floor as the guest, and then you could move onwards and upwards to Consign to Oblivion live at the Zenith in Paris........think that may well blow you away.......Did me!!
Angelfish, yeah, it totally looks like an angel 😆Facts that probably noone but me care about: The name Anglerfish refers to the "fishing rod" on its forehead, it lives in complete darkness, and uses the light at the end of the "rod" to lure in prey. Luckily they are nowhere near as big as in this video 😋 There are species of fish called Angelfish though, some species of colorful coral reef fish for example. A couple of freshwater species in the cichlid family are also called Angelfish, they belong to the genus Pterophyllum. Anywho, never mind all that, good reaction 😊
If you really want to blow your mind, consider that if you continue to do the maths of doubling the number of ancestors every generation, at somewhere between 25 - 30 generations back, you actually get to a number that is bigger than the population of the planet at the time. :)
Some probability calculations: Step 1. Probability of boy meeting girl & developing a romantic relationship: one in 20,000. Step 2. Probability of same boy knocking up same girl: one in 2000. Step 3. Probability of right sperm meeting right egg: one in 400 quadrillion. Step 4. Now lets assume that you have just those 12 generations of ancestors mentioned in the intro to this song. For the probability of every one of those 12 generations of your ancestors having reproduced successfully with right sperm having met the right egg is 400 quadrillion to the 12th power. Given these 4 steps, the probability of you being born you at the present moment is 20k x 2k x 400 quadrillion to the 13th power. Going backwards in time with even more generations of your ancestors, we soon reach a probability of 1 divided by the number of atoms in the entire universe. This makes each one of us a unique miracle. P.S. Most, if not all, of the free diving sections are taken from Guillaume Néry's short film "One Breath Around The World", which you can watch on his YT channel.
It's a nice perspective and sentiment to think of ones origin and ancestors, but as the future is obscured and kinda out of reach for us, nothing concrete, so it was for our ancestors and so are we to them. So it's one sided and abstract. But having said that, we are spiritual beings, and for our spirit at this very moment, pondering such things might be good for us.
I thought that at first. 2 to the power of 12 is 4096. However, if you add the series of powers of 2 (2 + 4 + ... + 2048) the result is 4094. They were correct in the video.
We are because of a million loves.🤘🎸
Great reaction. You got it right. Many didn't understand the chaos in the middle. Greetings from Germany.
Vielen dank!

Regarding the butterflies, i would suggest checking out the lyrics for the song Cadence of Her Last Breath, that might give you some ideas.
Thank you and wellcome back to Nightwish. Greetings from nwAse Sweden
Weldone you two, great reaction to a masterpiece, that will be remebered for decades.

You guys are such a chill couple a very relaxing not over hyped reactions thank you.

Some of the deep diver video is from "One Breath Around the World". Video is available on UA-cam. A little frightening !
If my cat saw those creatures, she would have attacked the screen! Liked the video and music but would've preferred to see them playing and singing.
