Thanks for the video comparison. I’d love to get into a launch monitor soon. The only thing is to mentally accept, is all these subscription based features/units. I don’t like having buyer’s remorse, so I will hesitate a lot until something makes sense. Plus the limitations for my space.
Great comparison. that's why I still can't trade my Mevo+ (w/ pro package)... great software for android/IOS and PC and no subscription fees for club/ball data. Software specs are pretty normal but I prefer GSPro for sheer amount of courses (and they are getting better every month). I like that GDS has ethernet built-in though. There's no perfect solution overall. it all depends on your situation and needs. Optical devices are better for people with less space but not so great with mixture of lefties and righties... Radar has more difficulties with short shots and spin. The thing is optical and radar (varies amonst companies) measure things differently.. ie. at ball first contact vs full deformation so you'll never really get an apple to apple comparison. Short of using a high speed camera and measure things manually of course. :)
Nice review, the Pelican case is a nice touch although I’m sure it adds noticeable cost, it would be nice if it had a little handle since you’re setting it on the ground and it looks fairly large.
Just went ahead and pulled the trigger on this guy. They have it on sale for $1,299 for ball metrics only, which is what I'm wanting considering the club data isn't too reliable. It's one of the cheapest on the side launch monitors (besides Square) and not having to pay any subscription fee to use gspro is amazing, plus my sim is outside and square won't work there.
Thank you for posting the video but I don't get that you compare it to the Mevo + ??? You have a GC3 just sitting there. I can only assume that you don't have the club data enabled on the GC3. In any case, I was not impress by the numbers and places it in the "toy" category.
Thanks for the comparison. Funny how you used a unit that is about half the price as your solid baseline! If your budget is $4k, just buy 2 Mevo + units, or just one and pocket the rest! I was kinda disappointed that the data was so far off the ‘trusted’ device (ahem half price). The point about it being a Chinese knock off is most likely more valid than not!
Nice to see some free unlocked unit with software. I hope they improve with updates. Finally some competition for these other companies with crazy anual fees.
Agree with Eric's comment. I have a GC3 and have compared it to both the Trackman 4 and the GC Quad at a golf shop, and it is extremely accurate (or at least repeats the GC Quad data within, typically, 1%). I believe if the GDS was placed right beside the GC3 the ball would be in view to both launch monitors. A failure I have is the use of the GC3 on the range - typically difficult to find the ball if there is any grass at all - could you check that feature on the GDS? I think that would be beneficial.
They do have a smaller one »the waver » small compact looks nice but no review yet would be interestingly to compare it with mln2 or garmin..same price range. Thks great video
Im my opinion you are too generous with ball data. 6 yrds on a wedge or mid iron is massive, whereas 6 yrds on a driver is ok. Seems to me Golfjoy has quite a bit of refining before this should be considered over Skytrak+, BLP, mini eye lite, ect….i wouldnt buy it from this test.
Way too expensive for the inaccuracy of shot and especially club data. You can't use that as a real simulator, just for some high hcp golfers, but thrn it is too expensive. Spend that loney on lessions...
Looks about as good as the optishot I bought 10 years ago, and sold. Not close enough for my billfold. I’ll stay with my Garmin a little longer. I have had great results with mine
$3600 plus subscription is ridiculous. Especially if it is less accurate than a mevo+. Those stickers on the shaft are ugly and would never put them on my clubs.
A few things I am thinking 1. No, not accurate enough. Seeing some that were 6 yards off on short irons is not good. The club data is suspect but maybe it can be fixed 2. Clearly this i white labeling things. Tough to pay for one brand that is the same as another. Maybe the software is different but that is anohter issue 3. Software - is this only proprietary or is it open to other sims like GSPro? If proprietary only, that is a huge fail LM companies need to stop being so territorial and allow cross platform for home users. The communities on GSPro and TGC are huge so if you only can use their sim, you are likely locking yourself out of that large community. And let's face it, you buy this, you are not buying it for the detailed swing analysis and fittings. You would want something more accurate and standard like Foresight, Uneekor or Trackman. 4. The computer specs are nothing that great. a 3050 is actually a horrible GPU so it that is what it needs, the software cannot be that great. Compared to Trackman or GSPro that really need a 3060ti to run 1080p....that is a huge leap in performance. So the specs needed for a PC are actually low. Maybe I am being too harsh, but the price of this would never make me even think about it. I would go Uneekor Mini Lite way before this since we know it is backed by a company that has significant experience and resources to support it. Yes, I am being too harsh here but hard to trust a new company that pushes out a product that looks exactly like another.
Yes, Optishot is rebranding this unit as BallFlight. GolfJoy has a 3P connector software specifically for GSPro. You have to ask them to share it when you purchase the unit. Overall, agree that there are plenty of other options that are more attractive.
@@swing-golf That is good that they at least allow it. To me, any LM company stuck inside their own proprietary sim is going to be hurt. Even Foresight recognized GSpro and made it native now. Trackman....well....its trackman and they own all the pros so...they will be ok. lol I love that we are getting so many options though. Home golf sims used to be only for the rich but now there are so many ways to do it for cheap.
@@TimSuttonGolf Good to know but too bad we never got to see the actual sim software here (just flyovers). And too bad it is on a less than stellar platform from a LM perspective. I would say 90% of what makes software the best is not how it looks but how many people use it and the community online. Only two that have a large community is GSpro and TGC 2019. So maybe if they allow third party LM's to use it and it actually looks as good as the flyovers, then maybe it could build a good community. We also have the update to E6 supposedly coming out sometime this coming century....lol
compared to a 5 x less 700 dollar device such as MLM2 Pro this device is crap when it comes to accuracy. And it is still subscription based. Best Value champion when it comes to accuracy and price is still MLM2 Pro...
What if the creators of the Golf Joy were actually sending it to somehow copy their competitors data files. 😮 Trojan horse going on here? I don't actually think so, but something to think about
That's not what's happening here. GolfJoy is the original hardware dev, they have an agreement with Optishot so that Optishot can rebrand this as BallFlight.
You test everything against the GC quater don’t test it at all. It’s either accurate or it’s not the only way you know is against the GC quad. Everything else is just shit.
Thanks for the video comparison. I’d love to get into a launch monitor soon. The only thing is to mentally accept, is all these subscription based features/units. I don’t like having buyer’s remorse, so I will hesitate a lot until something makes sense. Plus the limitations for my space.
I’m with you…I’ll spend the money when there’s a accurate unit that does not require a subscription to use third party software

Are you possibly going to be doing a video on the opti-shot ball flight? 🙏

Because he wanted to give his sponsor a plug
I agree. The GC3 is going to be the most accurate comparison as one is radar and one is camera based.

Agree. I want no part of anyone's recurring revenue model. Fuck that noise.

Golfjoy has a unit with a built in screen and 3 cameras too.
Ball data seems pretty good and the subscription prices seem reasonable with everything else.

We’ll see if we can get our hands on it to test soon! 👍🏻
Have you used the dots to see if that enhances club face data?
Maybe few more years the Launch monitors will more affordable and smaller in sized
If they cut the cost in half I’d put up with a lot more ergonomic issues like size
They Show a Special ball with Markings on web site, Curious if these balls will improve numbers, Like a RCT Ball but with lines.
We did reach out to them to ask they they told us the specially marked balls were "no longer required." Might be worth a test though as you mentioned.
Yes, our launch monitors has been upgraded and no longer need marker balls.
@@golfjoy2023 Will you be sharing this software update with Optishot so they too can no longer require marked balls for the BallFlight?
I would love to see a test outside against a Trackman
Seems like you would be better comparing to the gc quad or trackman

It’s hard to find information on this unit. Yes it is the same as the optishot unit. It is a Chinese company that makes it.
Optishot ball flight unit looks exactly the same, and they give you 20 free courses with no anual fee.

How can you say its twice the price when 1 is $3700 and other is $4900? Math isnt mathing. Also how is it a killer to the foresight?

Used GC2 is by far the best accuracy. Just bought one for $269 and many others last 2 weeks sold for $300-400. Can't beat that
Where are you buying for
@RobBoswell-vm8ht there was about 50 of then sold last few weeks on Ebay from 2ndswing. All them sold for $200-400
@@EFFTrudeau-001 I would take one of those, but I do not see anything like that on their ebay.
Doesn’t seem to be accurate enough. Subscription is pricey. Is it Korean or Chinese?
from China
Using a mevo to see if a unit is accurate? lol.
Looks like a Logitech speaker.
11 yds roll out om a 50° wedge 😂
