End of the season for sure - planning on going over it again and shooting those videos? Great job puting all this material out - I have really benefited from watching. Thanks!
Howdy Shobie Great Vidz BRUTHER Nothing wrong with them pistons FOrget about it.. When the motor was crankin out at 122 POUNDZ at 7999 RPM in yer other skidoo DYno vid! EXCELLENT!
Hello my name is bryon I am watching your build it's awesome. anyway when you where installing your cylinders you should have installed your y pipe to keep everything aligned before torquing your cylinders!
not trying to knock Jawz, but do they not clean up the cylinders when they're done? I know they didn't make them dirty, but it's all about presentation.
Ya that was my fault, I wanted them back fast for the build, I didnt care how they look as the case looks very nasty, looks arent everything to me but when i rebuild the motor in tehesummer I will clean it up well.
Id replace the piston rings. My engine blew its rings after 10,000 km. Took a nice chuck out of one of the pistons. I bought it used at 5000 km and I don't know what buddy did to it before but that was a nice expensive surprise this year. While you have it apart you might as well replace the rings.
i do one thing differnt when assembling sled engines. not shure if i am right or wrong but it works for me.. espically on twin engines.. i put a bit of oil on the top of the base gaskets so i i need to change a cylinder you won't rip a gasket....
new pistons would have been cheap insurance on that high km motor, it would be a shame if a skirt breaks off and makes scrap aluminum out of those cylinders and crank case. You could never know by just visually looking at them with the naked eye if they will break or not
Can tell he hasn't done much engine work because 1. You never use a chisel/scraper on an aluminum crankcase like that. 2. Why would you NOT tear down the crankcase to double check all of it and to make sure the crank is true and you have no bearing issues. Yes it was running ok and what not but going as far as he did tearing the sled down to nothing and then skipping out on those things. 3. In order to get those gaskets off you use a Roloc Gasket Removal Disc setup that does not damage anything and gets every single thing off that block. 4. Pistons/rings...At the very LEAST he should have replaced the rings with the jug work he did.
Greg is top notch, his work is his signature - unlike many other fab shops these days.
That makes sense, didn't think a company could last doing that regularly. Good vids, can't wait for the next one.
Those pistons will be just fine, love the build!
Yup, it has to make it through the season though - I'm tapped out on this build.
Yes, have some cool things lined up for that this summer.
I might still do the pistons before the snow flies, I'll see.
lube on bolts will throw off your values as well. i only use locktite on all bolts on a sled being it has alot of vibrations

I didn't even subscribe to you for the snowmobile stuff, but I do enjoy these videos. Still wish there was more Land Cruiser content!
More cruiser vids coming!

at some point can you show how to do the pto crank seal bearing repack?
Awesome build I have the identical sled only in 600 HO would it be worth some engine mods?

Hey could you send me a link to where you found the manuals
Good Vids
Tomorrow!
What if you ran a 7 hole gasket instead of a 6?
what intake sockets are on their? Rage Cages?
when is the next episode done ;D!!
Wow, i read the title wrong haha, i thought he was putting a fifth cylinder on a sled! Lol
Are you a trained mechanic or just self taught?
whens the next video ?
Use a "ROLLOCK" disk

Yeah lets do all this work and don't replace pistons WOW talking about being cheap, just saying and don't get it talking about put a band-aid on it
Wasnt in the budget...but when the thermostat grenaded the waterpump and seized up I put new pistons in it:)
