it's not capitalism that is causing the forced labor camps in China, it's Communism, racism (Han Chinese superiority), centuries of being evil to your fellow man being ingrained into Chinese culture.

Have you ever reacted to Swedish Tommy Johansson's Yt channel? He is the guitarist of Sabaton, has his own band majestica and sings like a god. Plays all the instruments himself. An amazing person. Listen to his covers of ABBA, Queen, Gary Moore and more and more
That cheap of a guitar and still shipped in better packaging than a purchase from guitar center 🤣
Trust me, guitar center has their fair share of s*** guitars
Guitar center buying from Temu and selling 3 times the price

hey now.. what's wrong with. ibanez... XD

I'm a big fan of their products
oh it's not a knockoff... look at the fretboard this was made in the same indonesian factory as the real Ibanez! just a different label slapped on. Ibanez has been doing this since the 60s
Most guitars are knock-offs.That's not the problem.
The uneven spacing of the middle single coil is killing me.
Mad respect for the transparency, this is my first time watching your content but for sure not the last now. respect \m/
same here
I don't understand the logic of guitars like this. They don't stay in tune, they sound like garbage, they don't play well. If anything they'll only put a new player off and end up gathering dust in a closet. By the time you've installed some decent tuners and pickups you might as well have just bought a better guitar in the first place. Just seems like a false economy to me.
money
It is a false economy. They are basically making a quick dollar off of parents or beginners that don't want to sink real money into a guitar
I agree, but don't try to tell people that because then they think your shilling for companies that make good stuff lol
It's not only guitars. Many cheap products made in Asia are just fast mass produced copies of things that really work.
@@TaylorDanley you’re just saying that because Temu wants you to say that about the other guitar companies. Cmon we can see through that jazz…
slightly unrelated but the aztec deathwhistle fr jumpscared me dude
Sorry 😂
Made the mistake of buying some stuff off Temu. Half of it was totally unusable, and my email spam has easily increased 1000% since. Considering all the sponsored content of theirs I've been seeing I appreciate an honest take. On an unrelated note, the flashback to you with short hair made me realize how long I've been following your channel now!
Dude, it was weird seeing the clip when I added it! Thanks for sharing, I'm sorry for your email. I feel like it's probably easier to burn the account than it is to unsub from the email.
Thats funny I bought tons off of Temu and have gotten not one spam message, huh! Yes some stuff is crap and guess WHAT! YOU CAN ASK FOR YOUR MONEY BACK! Imagin that DUH! Yet funny how you dont have a problem with the republicans as we speak forcing children into force labor do you! SMH!
I bought a lot of stuff on temu. Not a single spam email. 90% of it still works.
stg i bought pedals off there and they sound better than ogs

Thanks for the honest with the review, and not just glossing over the issues.
You did an amazing job of discussing the issue and bringing them to light.
I had heard about the privacy issues, but not the forced labor concerns .
You’re the first person to have brought that up and you couldn’t have handled it any better .
Hell yeah. I love guitar stuff, but you were the first UA-camr to speak out about the issues aroud Temu, so that earns a sub in my book.
I agree, except for the "China is more evil than Apple" bit (my previous comment)
Glad you drew attention to this issue not even just because it concerns temu but the more we rely on buying products from the web the easier it becomes for companies to hide abusive business practices and take advantage of our trust in receiving a product that meets their descriptions
This is definitely true. This one just felt wrong, and I didn't want to scrap the video because I thought it was kind of funny, but definitely didn't want to promote their stuff without a very clear and strong disclaimer.
@@TaylorDanley @jessiehutchings Please remember that U.S. prisoners are used as extremely cheap labour for a great number of products and services in the U.S., and are often forced to engage in that work.
Prisons are companies that make a profit from that cheap/free labour (slavery).
Penal labor in the United States, allowed by the 13th Amendment of the Constitution, is a multi-billion-dollar industry.
Annually, incarcerated workers provide at least $9 billion in services to the prison system and produce more than $2 billion in goods.
I don't know if I wanted to spend near 150 I'd just go HB. The guitar is currently 140.98 as of this morning on Temu. Maybe for 40 or 50 bucks
The HB R-446 is similar to the Temu strat, but priced at 159€ and it's actually great! It's on par with the 300€ Jacksons and Ibanezes (which are on par with 600€ guitars)...
Harley Benton is no better than this. I reviewed a Harley Benton recently and actually found it worse than this
ua-cam.com/video/L63UURpbD9M/v-deo.html
@@MaximusAdonicus Then you can invest another $50 on better tuners - if it needs them. Still a good price.
Thank you for shining light on the temu subject. Such topics as these are sensitive and sometimes uncomfortable to discuss, but if they're not brought to light, they'll remain in the darkness.
On a side note, the same money spent on that guitar can go towards a used Ibanez GIO or Jackson JS and the consumer will definitely have a more playable (and moddable) guitar. Thanks for showing me that I don't really want one of those for a mod project, no matter how cool it looks.
Up the horns! 🤘
the best thing to do to get a cheap metal guitar is get an Ibanez Gio or a used guitar. My first guitar ever was an Ibanez gio and I’ve been playing it for over 10 years now
It's not my first guitar, but my 5th guitar (and the last one I bought) was a Laguna LE122 off a friend for $50 because he didn't quite like how it played, plus hardly played anyway. I bought that thing in 2015, and it's been my primary guitar since then. My Epi Les Paul that my parents bought me for my first REAL guitar back in 2009 and this stupid Laguna have been the only guitars that I keep. This past Christmas I had some extra money from so I decided to buy the Alpha and Omega pickups, new tuners, and a new nut because why not, I've enjoyed it and I wouldn't be out much if I didn't like how it turned out.
This guitar in the video is literally an Ibanez GIO model grg (lol)
they're great guitars, just needs setup when it comes straight from the factory,
Firefly guitars are also a killer option on a budget. I hot-rodded one that I play over my USA Jackson on stage
Just get a Harley Benton!
@@CapnFlappyJaw42 I also got a epi les Paul as my first real guitar and I love it. I pick it up more than my strat for sure.

You're not alone 😂😂😂
This is just a Glarry Type 170 guitar with worse QC. Temu also has your payment info stored insecurely. If you get anything from there, use an anonymized payment obfuscation service. If you want a cheap, crappy guitar for a project, just get a Glarry. Or better yet, don't waste your money. lol
Hey man first video of yours I watched... I have been trying to figure out the Temu drama and you have explained it very well, thank you for that!
damn it, i didnt know your channel but just because you gave up on the sponsorship even after recording the video makes me appreciatte you a lot
Glad you continue to be very honest in your reviews and inform others of what they could be buying into. Please keep up the great work!
The way you handled that situation is excellent. I really appreciate this video and I'm glad you released it.
Damn i downloaded temu a few months ago, never purchased anything, thought all the notifications were annoying af, but just ignored them 😂. Had no idea about this. Just uninstalled it, thanks man.
I found a cheap Joyo Uzi pedal on there. I managed to get some decent 80s tone out of it. Im glad you said something about the "indentured servitude" going on. I had honestly not heard about it, either.
the ending requires balls of steel to make :) I like how you did it without eny drama
It's a good guitar practice modding and experimenting. I'm going to test how to polish frets, replace frets, remove paint, adding binding and staining if the wood looks okay.🎉
Amazing video, thanks for the quick heads up!
I've dealt with Chinese guitars. Yes, you can upgrade them. However, what I've found is that that upgrading the electronics can be a real B*tch. I went to replace a neck pickup and the entire inside of the guitar was a wood spiderweb. I had to cut all the internal wiring, router out the splinters, then wire and solder everything.
Spend the money and buy an Ibanez Gio. It's on the lower end of the spectrum but they are solid guitars.
I got a squier made in China, am I fucked?
This is great! Great message at the end! I however do have a a flanger pedal from temu that is surprisingly fire.
New guitars basically never stay in tune, because the new strings are still settling, so we can basically dismiss that issue. If you have to, you can also just lock down the bridge. Back when I was a kid, I got my first Charvelle, and I signed up for lessons at a local guitar shop. My teacher taught me how to stretch out the strings and tune my guitar, and the techs at the shop worked on the action and got it up and running. Thus, being perfect from the factory also isn't an issue (just ask Gibson!). If a parent has a kid that doesn't always follow through with things, but the kid is begging for a guitar, this makes total sense. I see some comments on here calling this a "false economy" and I couldn't disagree more. As if feeling a new hobby out with minimal investment is somehow dimwitted. As if when someone decides to keep going with this hobby, and they do actually decide to upgrade parts over time to make their guitar better, the student won't have a deeper connection with a guitar they modded themselves. You'd think all these nay-sayers worked for big guitar companies. These geniuses must buy Ferraris for their children when they're learning how to drive too.
I mean... the color was nice, that red was pleasant to look at, and I hate red guitars.
Other than that, it was "we have an Ibanez at home" kinda vibe lol
The selector thing could be that is not well put in the cavity. It happened to my the same thing with an Ibanez RG i got from a second hand store. Whoever checked or set up the guitar for the last time (i bet no one in the shop did) put it the wrong way and I could not access to all 5 positions until I corrected the position of the switch inside.
Great vid, the fact that you pointed out you weren't the best to weigh in on the issue got me to like and subscribe. You deliver the fact well.
Thanks for the extra info on Temu, much appreciated and so important.
Keep an eye on the prices of the coupon available purchase. I priced a guitar one day. 70 bucks on Temu. So i thought id see what the 300 usd coupon would do... Filled up my cart to make this happen and realised the guitar showed 129.00 with a ridiculous savings retail of 599.00 crossed out. That is super shady. That is your coupon. A lie about the retail they say they saved you. Not no but hell no. Haha
That guitar looks A LOT like the Ibanez GRG170DX in Candy Apple Red I started playing guitar with year and years ago. Just file the headstock a bit, slap an ibanez logo on it and it's dead on.
That guitar was better quality, though.
It lacks the Neck Binding, but yeah. I own a Gio 170DX too.😄
Amazing conversation and I appreciate your transparency. Put that guitar down and pick up one that you really want to rock out to!!!
Awesome job on the transparency! Respect
Thanks for spreading awareness, I had no idea. (about Temu)
Temu ain't that bad tbh
I saw that the cheap guitar has a tremolo bridge and wanted to see how bad it was lol
That's funny I didn't even notice it. I don't think it came with a trem arm!
I was going to subscribe just for the great review. But the ending solidified it. I can more than appreciate a dude who is completely honest! Keep up the great work!
First time watching one of your videos but you’ve got yourself a sub! Really appreciate the info on Temu - I don’t think they have quite the reach here in the UK but I’ve seen other UA-camrs do content on their products and they always seem sketchy as hell. I don't dig Teamoo. But I was curious to see this. And now I feel comfortable watching this because I think it is a great video on everything about this app. Over all I am glad I found your channel. Stoked!
Well, that was a fun review! 😄
I used to cashier @ SUPER TARGET and I had A LOT of "Indio" MONOPRICE guitars on my register belt. I always wondered if they were inexpensive "playable" instruments or expensive wall decorations.
It would make me happy if you could review one on your channel. They make an "S" style and a "T" style. I was thinking of buying the Tele!
You handled this perfectly! Nicely done ❤
It looks like a copy of some Ibanez gio. So it is a Chibanez guitar for one-time use.
I love your setup by the way or at least we have in the background... I been a drummer for over 20 yrs. I can't play anymore based on my situation so I try to play guitar now... My channel's got some mildly decent stuff.. including my own ideas for a song and dumb parodies... Not a popular channel but it's still nice to see more views on my stuff..
This is actually refreshing. To see a content creator with integrity and principals.
I've seen others, like Jake Tran, promote sites and products they knew were sketchy, but the manufacturers paid him decent money, so yeah, glowing promotion coming up!
I wanna see you upgrade that guitar! Turn a borderline chunk of junk into a monster player! 🤘
Yes that would be a sick video!

Google got in trouble in the past for it. But you us youtube 😂
I get stuff from them all the time. You just have to know how to shop and what to buy. And so much is on Amazon also. Same exact stuff.
They sell shit cheap because they steal your information and sell it. They’ve been shutdown before, by the Chinese government no less. Then they re-opened and rebranded.
They are actually dealing in information like a media company as opposed to a traditional e-tailer.
@@chuckfinley5206You’re missing the point. They are a Chinese company that is effectively selling items dirt cheap because they collect and sell personal information.
Specifically, like Tik Tok, they must share all data, at any time, with the Chinese Government. People may not think that this is a big deal but information warfare will be the next big front in warfare.
The amount of information including location data, specifically at U.S. Military installations, is a great threat. If you enjoy your way of life, I’d suggest just going through Amazon. They may compile data but they don’t sell it to the Chinese.
I've gotten many things from them. Everything arrived in perfect condition. Either I got lucky or you're a liar about their products

Major points for the transparency. I've seen multiple other guitar channels doing the Temu sponsorship and they haven't said anything about the issues with this company. I have a feeling doing this video the way you did is going to benefit you in the long run, because the key to these review channels is whether you can trust them.
I just want to say also, that I just happened to stumble across it AFTER the video was shot and I was looking for B Roll during the edit... I'm sure a lot of guitar channels don't edit as much, and were probably oblivious to it...
but also, I'm sure that there are some of them that just don't care 🤷♂️
Well done. Every step. Kudos!
My friend got a tele - style guitar off Temu and he had me set it up. The gigbag had started ripping from the time he left home to the time I got it home!! I was afraid to hold it by the handles. The frets were sharp and not polished at all. Everything looked shiny and new, but you can just tell that the materials are questionable. The neck has a gloss finish, but it was so soft that my fingernails made indentations in it. The tuning machines were rough when turning. The pickups sound okay. I say it is a waste of $100. I got a sweet Cimar strat by Ibanez for $80 at a pawn shop that was made in Korea and is FAR better.
Great video, and great explanation both musically and ethically.
Thanks for standing up and bringing this to our attention.
Hey, i was rooting for you liking the reverb pedal haha, here in Brazil, MVAVE is kinda "well known" as they make a cheap amp sim and effects processor called Cubebaby, which is pretty good for the R$170 (+- $35)
It was very nice! Pleasantly surprised.
Appreciate the honesty, subbed.
Good for you on walking back the sponsorship!
I got an introductory coupon for Temu and bought like $75 worth of stuff (for about $45) and it all arrived and it was the same Chinese stuff you get on Amazon and ebay. I bought all guitar stuff and it wasn't bad. Guitar straps and guitar setup stuff. I'm glad I saw this video though as it gives me more insight to the company I'm dealing with and making me wonder if I want to support them.
You handled the situation in an excellent way my friend....Great job...i only wish you would have played the wanna be Ax a lil more, i will go over to Spotify to check out your work...i also played for a while, i started around 8-9 yrs old, ive got the wonderful disease Parkinsons now so it kinda put a major damper on that. i still fuck around at home but the playing out thing has played out !!!! oh well, cool vid man, i will check more,, thanks...

Love your videos you're awesome keep up the great work
Everytime I get a Temu ad I keep hitting those settings and telling Google I don't want to see those ads, but they keep coming. They probably offer YT / Google big money to keep spamming us.
I think its a good mod platform if its close out the box. Wish. C . For 64$ .i sanded the neck thinner, scribed out the square neck fot to match the round countour of the body heel. I potted the pickups. Now its down to a mexian fender bridge( its got that smaller metric trem) or possibly copy floyd next. Oh i routed more room fir the block to not bottom. I really like 6 screws not two posts
Thanks a lot for the heads up about Temu. There seems to be a lot of problems with mysterious charges and no deliveries. I`m going to avoid them.
Much respect for not endorsing temu. There are enough questions there, to make me want to steer clear of them. You’re a class act.
Kudos to you. honesty goes a long way iam a "synth" man BUT guitars may be my next instrument. and this channel are a god start. i bet. /regards from the cold north Denmark /michael
I love these as project guitars but I always encourage my new playing friends to get used EPS 10 series guitars. You can get them for sub $100 and I can give them a full set up. It also helps encourage them to start learning how to mod their gear
I applaud you for doing what these big organizations won’t. It’s also a sad day when I get more truthful news from a guitar guy on UA-cam than I will from actual journalists.
In fairness, all the information I got was from actual journalists. I linked the articles I cited if you want to read further, but it was never my intention to try to inform people or get on a soapbox. I just wanted to state my case on why I felt it was unethical. Other guitar youtubers obviously don't feel the same, and that's OK. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
I am just over beginner level and recently bought a new $190 SG from a decent manufacturer. Looks good, feels good, doesn't stay in tune. Problem is toy like 14:1 tuners. $40 upgrade makes it a winner. I suggest buying something track tested playable as is.
i always watching you for your reviews, but i never see you perform. where can i see you perform online? or any song your band recorded?

Well played. A great way to deal with this situation. I was approached by Temu as well and had agreed to a sponsored video. I backed out BEFORE they sent me anything because I had made a reasonable request for something I thought would contribute to a good video. They said no giving me some lame song and dance and I just felt their response was a little "weird." So feeling their brand didn't align with mine I just told them politely I was out. You exit was far more entertaining! :)

Buy chance i just ordered a few similar pedals from this brand from aliexpress. I was hesitant to get a guitar, but was hoping the electronics like pedals would be okay, as I'm used to. I'm glad that it seems I will get a decent product to experiment with, as im not planning on investing a lot into this hobby, which might fade again in a few months depending where things go.
You are a super rad dude. Thanks for this video
We've been buying a ton of stuff from Temu for over a year now. We love it. Great place to buy inexpensive gorgeous Hawaiian shirts and cool LED lights.
Never used Temu, but I did buy a Glarry bass off eBay. $68 shipped to my door. Swapped the strings for tape wounds and adjust the pickup height to suit me. Everything else was perfect, and much nicer fit a finish compared to my Ibanez. After several months and falling in love with playing bass I went to the local guitar shop to buy a "real" bass. There wasn't a bass in that shop that I liked the tone of. Everyone at the shop was impressed with the instrument.
I can honestly say that, so far, my cheap Glarry bass is the nicest bass I've had in my hands to date. Play daily and haven't touched the tuners in months.
I agree. A friend of mine gave me a Glarry bass for doing some guitar repairs. I was really surprised at how it plays, especially how good the neck feels. I'll probably replace the electronics eventually but for a sub $100 bass it's a great starter instrument.
Huge respect for you Taylor well done sir well done.
Thanks man 💪
I was curious what a Temu guitar would sound like, thanks dude.
I wonder if you had taken the plastic off the top of the pickups if it would have sounded a little clearer?
ok so would a cow bone nut, basic fret level and setup and a decent set of strings not fix it cause pickup's sound ok and look very nice?
is the solo you played at 6:45 a real song or is it just your own, sounds awesome man
Awesome videos, keep it up.
