  • Speaker: Heath Stanfield, Manager of McAlester Library
Description: Heath Stanfield from the Southeast Oklahoma Library System will share his program "Backyard Explorers" and tips for implementing nature inquiry programs at the library. BYE investigations begin with accessing library learning resources and aim to get families outside to explore nature using the tools of science. All BYE topics include an introductory video, activity/handout, and logbook challenges. Your library should implement at least 2 programs using the BYE topics: A Look at Leaves, Investigating Insects, Watching the Weather, Sorting Soils, Making Maps, and Backyard Birding. For more information, see Backyard Explorers video and Virtual Citizen Science Expo video to check out the cool technology features of this program.
