In this limited series, Chef Yosses will walk you through the presidential families' favorite recipes...while spilling all the most glorious presidential tea. Me too! My family and I try to live an active lifestyle, but life is too freaking short to not have dessert. I am firmly of the belief you can be healthy, fit and active but eat a slice of cake and feel no guilt.

I love how this man cooked/baked for two opposing presidents. He doesn’t seem bias to one or the other. I have absolute respect for this guy.

@lastlegs Yes Civil Servants are usually tactful,but in The 🇬🇧 he is not considered to be part of The Civil service. That's a completely different profession. He is a member of the Household Staff. What would be called a Chief.
Bsc there are some people who don't give af on politics. They just doing the job they love and find their coworker and boss enjoyable no matter the political stance is.

scones:
- 4 c flour
- 4 TB (1/4 c) caster sugar
- 2 c milk
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 3 tsp (1 TB) cream of tartar
- 2 TB melted butter
Directions
beat eggs, sugar, and about half the milk together, add flour, mix well together adding remainder of milk as required, also bicarb and cream of tartar, fold in melted butter

This is not correct. a Teacup holds 100 grams by volume which is actually 3/4 of a cup. So 4 teacups are 3 cups of flour, not 4 and 1 and 1/2 cups of milk, not 2 cups.
Seriously considering a presidential run for the sole purpose of strong-arming this man back into the White House and forcing him to prepare all desserts. Every single one that exists. I haven't really figured out my platform yet, but it probably involves a lot of cake and ponies.

It should be noted that the president pays out of pocket for all personal food for him and his family. Only state functions come out of the taxpayers pocket.
Considering presidents bolster their wealth by 10s/100s of millions while in office this doesn’t make me think any higher of them
I worked for CPS and there were very very very healthy foods served, this was probably the healthiest foods the children ate during the day. The children loved all the fruits and vegetables Thank you First Lady 👏🏾❤️👏🏾❤️👏🏾❤️👏🏾❤️👏🏾

I love how this food is so simple and so classic. Red velvet and Apple pie. So comfy and something you can make at home. Desserts take love and is a special treat but it doesn't have to be expensive or overly complicated.
The president & first lady sure had some good taste in foods, I also loved how they treated the workers like there own family, that probably motivated them to make such great food, respect to them!
I like that way of thinking. A healthy lifestyle that does include dessert. Moderation is key. If you're gonna have dessert, then make it a high quality one where you can enjoy every bite. Oh, that red velvet cake looks so tempting, it's almost evil. And dessert is something I'm the best at in my family.

No red velvet items, yogurt, cake, cookies, or most of all red velvet cupcakes. As a matter of fact, my favorite cupcake shop around the corner has now closed due to COVID. Happy for you! I, a nutrition scientist, agree with Michelle. It is okay to eat a classical dessert. Cake with butter and sugar and cream. But eat it less frequent. And do not eat half of the cake. He is right, when he says, "there is no healthy dessert, but there is a healthy lifestyle that includes dessert".
The psychological boost of eating desserts is worth it, as long as you have a healthy lifestyle.

There is a coffee shop near where I live and it’s all based on Harry Potter things. The butter beer latte has gold edible glitter, the love potion iced rose water tea has pink edible glitter and the unicorn blood (vanilla cupcake iced latte) has silver edible glitter. And they use flash paper to add “magic”. My niece loves going there. Lol

Y'all gotta realize this is a huge country. She meant well but school lunches change from state to state, city to city and school to school. Many schools don't have the funding to provide gourmet healthy lunches and local governments don't care either (I mean look at our cafeteria food vs oth countries). She tried haha but it isn't easy
@@John-ir4id And it's sad that the execution was so poor because it's a great idea really. Healthy lunches would make us learn, work, and interact much more efficiently. The amount of us that were hungry before the school day ends was insane. I agree with you that if staffing and governments got involved the lunches could have been healthy, satiating, and delicious nationwide.

That photo of Obama talking to the queen was the cover picture of my collage "Advanced English Grammar and Phonetics" textbook.
The book primarily encapsulated American english and Received Pronounciation (or "English English" as we called it XD) and the picture was chosen for it's symbolic representation of both the United States and the United Kingdom through the presence of their respective sovereigns.
Also, that cake looks divine.
I love Red Velvet. My mom makes it for special occasions for our family. I try it from stores but it always taste like chocolate. Red Velvet is a very unique and smooth flavor to me.

It’s 4am, I should be sleeping already, but here I am, wishing I could just get up and bake some cake! Doubt neighbors would appreciate it if I started a hand mixer at this hour of the night though, so baking will have to wait. And I still need a kitchen aid type machine at home to make baking easier... Oh well, at least I’m going to make a cake in a few days, mum’s birthday next week and I’m making the cake for her. Going to make vanilla flavored cake with home made whipped raspberry pannacotta between the layers and decoration, and chocolate cream to coat the cake, it will also be made with very little regular sugar (dad is diabetic) It’s just so relaxing and rewarding to bake cakes, cookies or buns or bread, I just love it! Planning to get myself some nice piping bag and piping accessories as well and eventually learn to decorate cakes and cupcakes nicely... Funny though, my adoptive grandfather (who died many years before I was born) was working as a pastry chef at a local bakery/cafe, and I often feel as if he’s with me somehow, despite us not being related by blood (mum was adopted as an infant, and yes, we found my biological grandmother as well and got 16 wonderful years with her in our lives before she passed away in 2013). I wouldn’t say I’m a great baker by any means, but baking just somehow comes naturally to me and no one taught me how. So I just like to believe that my grandfather is with me.
Going to have to try to make red velvet cake sometime, I’ve tried red velvet cupcake once and it was really good!

I love this guy. I could listen to him all day. Such gr8 memories for him. Now - for the RV cake. I never understood this one. Why go thru all the trouble of making it that brilliant red . . but . . add no flavoring. I always wanted it to taste like cherry or berry . . . or something other than plain ole cake.

Lol, the true outcome of the healthy food initiative, my homies had to go get 2 or 3 helpings of lunch to feel full lmao, I packed lunch like a chad.
I worked in social work throughout the Obama administration and it was a great time to be working with schools and assistance offices. It was almost like a golden age of nutrition. I taught financial literacy and household budgeting and worked with local farms to teach healthy cooking classes. I loved that part of my job.

I have malt loaf or banana malt loaf frequently as dessert, pretty healthy and full of fibre, or oat homemade flapjacks, with dried fruit, you can do healthy desserts, and have a slice of cake once or twice a week.
