If I was to add a 6th reason? THE SOUNDTRACK
Hearing dragula and meet the creeper in 3 and 4 on the first map does get the hype going
@@theadma184first level is meet the creeper, amazing song. Dragula was 4th game, which is also a solid soundtrack! :)
@@SevvyTV thanks
I think the 3 original tracks from Lance Lenhart (theme, London, Egypt) in the game are fantastic....but the licensed soundtrack era of games was a huge downgrade from original scores, in my personal opinion. 1 and 2 were killer OST's and their own thing, which as a musician, I can appreciate immensely.
I gotta admit "Microwaved" (Washington Stage) & Valley of the Kings (Egypt Stage) are probably some of my favorite theme songs
I disagree! It's a FREAKING AWESOME game!!! I love it. It is my favorite when it comes to gameplay. The Soundtrack is dope too!
"The game is fun.The game is a battle. If it's not fun, why bother?" - Sun tzu (probably)
For me TM3 is a good game because of sentiment reasons. When it came out, my grandma bought it for me because I wanted it after playing TM2 at a friend's house. Kid Joe played the absolute hell out of it and she passed away 2 years later so I kept playing it. I played it alot with my little brother along playing TM4 and we always had tons of fun playing it. I didn't have as much attachment to TM1&2 so it never came off as a bad game to us.
I wore this game out while I was in elementary school, and it's still my second favorite in the series. I'm glad this and TM4 have finally been getting the love they deserve after 25 years.
TM3 is a good game, it's definitely better than TM2.
Tm2 is💩💩💩💩💩💩
10 ways to become a menace on Twisted Metal 3 as a player:
1: Plant TNT immediately at a teleporter exit or directly underneath the spawn area of a heal-up.
2: (This is one for the PS1/2) Fill the map with dozens of ricochet bombs to deliberately slow down the game and then hide in an isolated part of the map while everyone drowns in a sea of bombs (my sister discovered that one).
3: Rear spam Outlaw's Special attack. (If you do 5 in a row, you can actually send people so high up in the sky that they will die in mid-air from falling before they ever hit the ground)
4: Use Club Kid's Special attack on any map with Pure Lunacy. (Half of the enemies kill each other before the vortex even explodes. I highly recommend using this in uncomfortably tight spaces, over lava, near the edge of ramps, any treacherous terrain, and especially in the blimp near the open pit.)
5: Freeze an enemy as Mr. Grimm, especially one that's bulky and hard to move, and proceed to shit skull missiles repeatedly using rear spam.
6: Send Sweet Tooth's flying explosive laughing ice cream truck head through solid walls and surprise the crap out of somebody on the other side.
7: Stock up on Lightning on any level that has it and then hide somewhere in the corner, waiting for some poor fool on low health to enter, looking for a heal-up.
8: When playing against live opponents, use the Speed missile as either a distraction or a way to get someone's attention. Being a huge stealth game player, I may also try to confuse the crap out of somebody by sending them on a merry chase to try and find me or use the Rain missile as bait to lure them into a TNT or a Special.
9: Speaking of Rain missiles, use them to get enemies to constantly spend all their Turbo, especially in tight spaces with a crowd.
10: Rocket someone into the moon by chain-smacking them with projectiles, causing them to accelerate and lift off the ground so they can't control their steering or their velocity until they hit a wall.
Have fun!
TM3 is definitely one of the Twisted Metal games of all time
Copies TM2 on everything, adds nothing new except terrible control and dumb characters. Yes a 10/10 game
Objectively, I don't think there's a single "bad" Twisted Metal game, just ones that are better than others, as they're all flawed but very fun times. That being said, Twisted Metal 4 is the best game of all time.
Always loved TM3. Everyone I knew enjoyed it. Didn't even realize their was hate for it until I started watching the TM Boys channels.
Its my favorite PS1 game of all time for a reason
TM3 was my first TM game, so it holds a special place in my heart. I first played it when we visited my uncle. My older cousin had a PS1 and TM3, and my dad and I loved it so much he bought us a PS1 with TM3 that Christmas. Played it a ton with my dad and sister both. That's where my love of TM came from, a 7-year-old playing Spectre and getting owned by my dad running Auger.
TM 3 is not bad. It has some big issues, like the topling over and stuff. But it's a fun game, specially for PVP, just like any other TM game...
What it does bad is the endings and drivers characterization.
The theming is also really tight. Game has a decently strong sense of identity. The contestants are all either “normal humans” or supernatural. No cyborgs or robots here. They’re all competing for their own interests. No government conspiracies like in TM1. They’re all wacky. Barely any contestants come across as entirely sane. Even the ones that are “sane” aren’t thinking through their wishes very carefully. The “world tour” theming works great here, as most levels are either already devastated (Hollywood, Tokyo) or are able to be devastated via their destroyable environments (North Pole, London). You can tell the contest is bad for the world. Even Calypso remarks as much over the radio.
At no point does TM3 have an identity crisis or think it’s something that it’s not, and I respect that in a game.
this is why it's bad though, everything is too wacky and none of the characters have any reasonable motivation. how is this a positive comment
Specifically because not a single character defies this expectation. They are all on theme. This gives the game a strong sense of identity. I’m not saying it’s a good identity or a good theme, but the game knows what it is. I respect that about it.
For example, I find fault with TM1 for not knowing how serious or believable versus wacky it wants to be.
Twisted Metal 4 is still my all time favorite and I don’t care what the community consensus is. Something about a boss every level really gave me hella dopamine as a kid b
TM3 is actually my favorite TM game. It was the first one I ever played and I fell in love with it. TM2 being a close second because the characters are awesome
I used to hate TM3 and thought it was the worst in the series. But now id much rather play it then 2012, Head On and TM2. I still prefer TM1/95, Small Brawl and Black. But TM3 does deserve much more than it gets.
TM3 deserves love! ❤
in addition to being good, it's BETTER than TM2. I like TM2, but their ice rink physics and controls make TM3's car-flipping nonsense feel quite tolerable.
I have given this game many chances and the physics is what stops me from enjoying this game. I just can't get used to them and would probably like this game a lot more if everything felt heavier even just very slight. But I personally just don't like it when a game feels floaty.
they are hard to get used to i wanna try though because i do like the level design mostly lol
I can never keep the car in a straight line in this game when using turbo and making a bee line to a health pickup. They wabble about as if they have broken suspension or something
Apart from its weak points I can't help but love the game its the first one I played and the one that got me into Twisted Metal and might be in my top 3 TM game soundtracks
Its a good game given the development challenges and short timelines.
All Twisted Metal games are fun. Therefore, all Twisted Metal games are good.
i love Tm3, as frustrating as it is, i actually do really like this TM. all the points you made were pretty much what i thought, physics are good, sometimes annoying with certain characters lol. AI can actually attack each other which is nice, and they go for HP when low, which is cool, but also a bit frustrating lmao. With the flaws that Tm3 does have, i actually do enjoy it for what it is, even when it gets frustrating at times, the soundtrack is also incredible!
I completely agree with this video. I especially agree with you about the physics. Once you get the hang of them, they completely make sense and they add an element to the game that can be a lot of fun. They're not realistic per se, but they look and feel right. If your left front tire hits a bump while you're driving, your car is going to react appropriately and probably flip clockwise if you're going fast enough. With that said, these physics require processing power and it's really impressive to see the original PlayStation pull them off. There are also a lot of polygons moving onscreen at once along with special effects and the developers went out of their way to show all of the above off immediately in the game's main menu. They knew what they had and, hands down, this is one of the most impressive engines on the platform considering it all runs as well as it does. The options menu even has some advanced performance and video options if I recall correctly, which is how you know you had some killer devs working on this.
Twisted Metal 4 would build upon this engine and even tweak it to maximum performance, I just couldn't get into the locations or vehicles in that game. It is also a good game, but probably the worst "Twisted Metal" game in my opinion. Twisted Metal 3 feels more like Twisted Metal than 4 does, considering we at least get familiar characters and the voice of Mel McMurrin. The soundtrack in TM3 is also way better than TM4, but that's extremely subjective.
I played this game for a little bit back in the day and i hated it, the vanilla version is ass. However modded TM3 plays better I think once you play modded TM3 there's no reason to ever play vanilla. Lastly the soundtrack is pretty damn awesome.
i never played it as a kid and honestly only tried it on emulator after watching you play. as a kid up to high school ish i played tm1, tm2, tm4, small brawl and black but now that I've tried tm3 i can say although its frustrating it is fun the soundtrack is really good and i also like how their are unique environmentals instead of just lightning i think if it got a longer production it would be way better but gotta love companies that rush game devs also i wish Calypso narrated in other games i think thats a neat touch
I think it's the best game of the TM series. every game has its issues. The only issue that gets me really upset is how bad the handling is especially for the big slow characters getting flipped upside down and whatnot but Other than that everything else is amazing.
I would say it was just guilty of being overly simple. Still all around a better game then TW2 TW4
actually, tm3 actually looks as good both on ps1 AND emulator, i've tried both
The most I love about this game is the physics it's so fun to do messing around with the physics And this is why it's a great game A good Twisted Metal Game
TM3 supremacy hell yeah!!!
GTA vice City and twisted metal 3 had a similar development time and are good games. I like the car models in twisted metal 3.
And I'm tired of pretending its not
The best TM game. Hands down
I recognize the accomplishment of making a game in 9 months, and I have so much respect for the developers for making a fully complete and functioning product in that time frame.
That being said.....everytime I try and play the game, I just don't really have fun. The cars are just too floaty and the steering is too stiff for me to enjoy, and not having good handbrakes and taking forecer to recover from flipping over doesn't help either (it's why I love TM4 in comparison).
I prefer the more fluid controls of Rogue Trip, TM:Black and Small Brawl because the cars feel more fun to drive. I prefer the more arcade-esque controls because they feel more natural and fun to use in an arena setting. And when it comes to realistic driving physics I tend to enjoy Vigilante 8 more because only a few weapons require precision aim as a reward, and most of the weapons have tracking or can hit in any direction, where as 90% of the TM3 weapons fire from the front (plus it just feels less floaty).
Thats just my take though, and I'm glad a lot people love this game. Hell maybe it is just a skill issue. But like with TM2 and TM2012's story mode, I just don't feel like getting good at a game I don't find fun.
Yes indeed TM3 and TM4 is much better then TM1 & TM2
This game came out a couple of months after I was born and was the first game I can ever remember playing, so I'm genuinely not allowed to dislike it.
I still think it's the worst of the franchise, but I like it more than Small Brawl or TM95.
yo i LOVED twisted metal 2 and i LOVE hearing opinions about twisted metal and i love you covering the game at all and you dont bother me the slightest!!!!
I dont care what everyone says, TM3 is a great game and still is my favorite TM game!!!
Your next video should cover the great things about past games that should make it into a new game! And maybe a few that shouldn't!
The only thing I liked was the soundtrack. The graphics were a nice step up, but Didn’t like the character designs and presentation, which I loved in tm2. Also couldn’t get behind the physics.
screenshot your thumbnail, replaced "good" with something else from my gallery, had a good laugh lmao.
Lol he said before you dislike it
I like TM2 please don't dislike
Nothing wrong with that!
tm4 is better
Both are goated!
@@VicariousNickk nonsense tm4 better graphics
@@jjohnson71958 Nope
@@VicariousNickk yep i.k so i used to play it and the oil rig had the best background scenery visuals ever! i felt like i was there on the oil rig
