Thank you so much for discovering me Hank! It's the proudest moment of my life!
I was like the 2 millionth person to discover you! You're amazing! Thank you for working with us!
@@vlogbrothers This is all so wholesome and cute! Man it feels like 2008 again. THIS is why I'm a Nerdfighter. This is why.
Your videos are beautiful! Congratulations on this collaboration. Thanks for sharing this teeny tiny world with us!
so proud of a fellow pole! looking forward to all the videos ❤️

Yes!
Well played, sir.

I feel like this is gonna really freak John out
My immediate first thought lol
I suspect the line about how thousands of microorganisms CAN live in a drop of pond water was modified from how thousands of organisms DO live in a drop of water, just for John
That was my first thought too! Hope Hank warned him.
Although I wonder if learning how cool and beautiful the micro-organisms can be might help John?
P.s. good news! In the first vid John commented - turns out he loves it. We were worried for nothing :D
Right? Next Tuesday's video will be 4 minutes of John in a fetal position.
I loved the way you combined a calm narrative, beautiful imagery and relaxing music. It felt like an antidote to the sharp and spikey internet. The anti-twitter, if you will.
Kamomillia Yes. Exactly. 😌
@@christinearmington I almost think Hank has found through this inspiration, his inner Carl Sagan. Such a different, but awesomely poetic presentation.
these little guys get to live without knowing what twitter is
We need more of it. I hope it succeeds!

Normal Person: I don't know as much as I want to about this neat subject.
_Googles it, visits wikipedia, maybe a couple youtube videos_
huh, cool.
Hank: I don't know as much as I want to about this neat subject.
*Starts UA-cam channel with a Polish guy*
For most people I know IRL it's more like "Googles it, visits wikipedia, maybe a couple youtube videos"
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
WE SHALL NEVER THINK OF THIS AGAIN.
@@ADADEL1 XD
Hahaha

But that's why we love them!
I am a microbiologist (literally spreading bacteria on a petri dish right now) and I. LOVE. THIS.
I wish I would be 12-year-old me (instead of 29yo...) so I could get inspired by this and become a microbiologist. Or a physicist. Or an astronomer. Or pretty much every profession there is around all fascinating stuff Hank talks about.
Same!
I am studying to be one , Atleast I hope so
Heikki Leino It’s never too late to study something new! You may not be able to have a career centered around microbiology but private studies are always an option.
@@mistylima56 Me too! Good luck to us both
Hank calmly marveling at microorganisms is going to be my new ASMR.
OMG I just said the same thing 🤣🤣🤣
Same!
Yesssssßßsssss
yes
Hank Green’s war against ever having a moment to sleep continues then.
John: I am terrified of this thing.
Hank: Hey, check this out!
Hank's introduction on the new channel:
"I'm Hank Green. I make UA-cam CHANNELS."
Hank's narration is amazing. Congrats on your new passion project.
It's very reminiscent of Carl Sagan. I hope that's what he was going for.
Hank Green for the next Sir Richard Attenborough
Does Hank sleep? Or is Dave, the secret third brother, real and Hank just presents his work?
The hank can never be contained, its thirst for knowledge legendary. Why do u think the US military is so big, they have to be ready when the hank attacks?
Dave.. his explains so much... Why we never see Dave, how they make such greath video's with so much to do.. I don't think Dave sleeps tough
Who the eff is Dave?
Microbiologist here (currently working on my PhD). You've managed to capture the reason I became so enthralled by the microbial world in this video. Ever since I first saw pond water under a microscope, I was hooked. Really looking forward to the new channel!
I think this is the slowest I have heard Hank speak. Most of the time his mouth is on rampage mode.
Hank: My New Obsession
Me: hmm, he’s probably started a new project
Hank: I started a new project
This was both incredibly calming and slightly worrying, thinking about all the millions of organisms on us and in us all the time.
Oh my god, I sound like John.
Lo-Fi beats + microbial drama= instant subscription.
Me 5 seconds in: "wow this makes me really want to watch a documentary about micro organisms voiced by hank."
Me 2 minutes in: "OMG YES!"
Why did this thumbnail and title make me miss Truth or Fail
Everything makes me miss Truth or Fail.
vlogbrothers rip annotations
@@burnout10567 I mean Truth or fail ended before they removed annotation
Travis Hunt yeah but now you can’t go back and play them thats the point im making
@@burnout10567 End cards work during the last 20 seconds. Maybe if it relaunches like that, people who watch now would be more into it. The site isn't full of things like that anymore, now that annotations are gone.
Hank: "we're planning on following a family of tardigrades"
me: *involuntary awww"
+
Tardigrades, Andrew Huang and ASMR Hank? Yes please!
Also, will there be other hosts?
we need Andrew yang
Why do I feel like John might panic a tiny bit about this? ;-; (it’s really great Hank, can’t wait to see the next episodes)
I said it before and I'll say it again: John and Hank for school education! I learn so much from you and it's so incredibly entertaining. I am really really excited for journey to the microcosmos :)
Lots of Love and have a lovely day🤗
Random member of Nerdfighteria It might be a pipe dream but I so wish John and Hank could take over as head of the Dept. of Education. Compared to the person who has the job now, they’re way more qualified, seem to enjoy imparting knowledge, empowering the youth, and actually have good ideas about what to teach and how to go about getting the info across without being preachy, boring or overwhelming.
Ohhhh your voice was very calming in that video
Yo what timing! And I'm so glad someone else is nerdy about tiny living things! My final project for Storyboarding was inspired by volvox algae. I thought they were neat because they seem like a weird in-between of a single celled and multi-cellular organism, making for an interesting candidate when studying community and that community's environment. Also they're just the weirdest looking things lol. I learned that microorganisms make great character inspiration.
Getting powerful flOw vibes from this. :)
Hank, I am so beyond excited about this!! I've spent the past year learning about marine phytoplankton thanks to my AmeriCorps VISTA position in Southeast Alaska. I definitely want more people to see and know and be nerds about the astonishing diversity and strangeness and beauty of the microscopic life all around us
Thanks so much for doing this Hank! i'm a microbiologist and I absolutely love watching these videos. I suspect it's because it really incites in me a feeling of mystery and wonder. So much of our world is unexplored, and this really showcases what we're missing with just our naked eyes alone.
this is so nice and calm and something ive never even given thought to - exactly what i needed after a long day :) excited abt the new channel!
Two things I didn't know:
1) how beautiful this kind of imagery is
2) how calming Hanks voice is
This is my new favourite thing. Beautiful.
I legitimately thought this video was going to be about Keanu Reeves
Maybe microbiology is the secret to unlocking his immortality
I love everything about this!! The images, the music, the voiceover... Heading on over to watch and subscribe right now.
Nice video hank!
You've captivated that documentary, which when accompanied by calm narration, a simple melody, and poetic imagery was just wonderous.
I'm SO excited about this. This sounds so freaking cool, and I love the music combined with the weird beautiful organisms. My first thought while I started watching this video was, "wow, this is beautiful. I wish this was going to be longer than 4 minutes" WISH COME TRUE! I can't wait to watch the videos now.
Thank you so much for making Journey to the Microcosm. I love every episode. Its truly fascinating.
This new channel is going to be great. I didn't realize it until now but I've been needing some chill science videos in my life.
Definitely subscribing to Journey to the microcosmos! I love microbiology and learning about micro organisms... especially how viruses evolve... for some reason it just mystifies me how something microscopic can completely disable a human body and adversely affect us in ways that can even be lethal at times. How can things so tiny have so much impact on overall health? I also love learning about our microbiome and about all the things the good bacteria in our guts do to not only keep us healthy but functional. We couldn't even properly digest food without them. For instance, I always knew fiber was important for digestive health, but it turns out, the reason it's so important is that it feeds the bacteria that cleans the lining of our digestive tract & intestines.
Oh I love it! I have always had an affinity for the tiny and the unseen microscopic world. Look forward to the new channel!
Definitely liking the calmer, slower yet educational tone. I feel more engaged. Already subscribed to the new channel and am excited to see what’s to come!
Yes yes yes! Hank, thank you SO much for bringing more attention to the incredible world of microbes! I'm currently doing my PhD studying marine microbiology and I got so excited when I saw this video! I really really really hope you do a video on Prochlorococcus (and maybe Synechococcus). It's THE single most abundant organism on the planet, and we only discovered it 20 years ago!
My master thesis was about diatoms and it was just so amazing..
This is the best collab ever! So excited
I passed thru Missoula, MT on my road trip just since you talk about it so much. I wasn’t disappointed! Your hometown is amazing!
So exciting! Thank you for using Andrew's music - he is massively underappreciated!
Hank and friends, I am so looking forward to this journey. Thank you for your awareness and appreciation to bring the world of our small neighbors into focus.
Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, I couldnt watch the video and instead just listened, because micro organisms freak me out! But I am glad they bring you joy Hank!💜💜
I am so exited! I have been following James in Ig for a long time, watched CrashCourse since middle school. Having Hank and James work together in something makes me so happy. I study Biology at uni and want to specialize in microbiology so this just my cup of tea. Congratulation and lots of love for you guys!
I'm in love with the music, and the whole feel of it. I kinda forgot how much I loved biology back in high school. Thanks so much for continuously broadening my understanding of life
THIS IS SO COOL!!! As a microbiologist, I see these things so often, but these imaginings are so detailed
Every time I get the notification from this channel that a new video was posted, I'm pretty sure my brain releases dopamine. This space gives me hope. You starting yet another project, on top of a million others, to explore another kind of beauty to be found in the world - that gives me hope. Hope that some kid somewhere stumbles upon a video of microorganisms and ends up with Nobel for chemistry. Hope that a young girl will watch an Eons video and fall in love with prehistoric beings, only to spend the rest of her life chasing the biggest misteries of this Earth's past. Hope that a young boy who has grown up in poverty uses your SciShow videos to engage the third graders from his community that he's trying to give back to about what the world is like outside of their immediate experience. This is the kind of hope the space you have created gives me. Thank you.
I am so excited about this! Aquatic biology was my life for more than 30 years and most of it was NOT peering through microscopes at amazing little critters, unfortunately - this takes me back to college and grad school when life was fun! Can't wait! AND TARDIGRADES!!! *swoons*
Reason to love this stuff: these organisms reproduce often and therefore evolve quickly and have been doing so for billions of years, which makes them possibly the most sophisticated organisms on Earth. Will obediently or obsessively follow this new channel.
I'm excited to check out the new channel. Looking at what lives in water under a microscope when I was a kid is what motivated my enthusiasm for biology and my career in water treatment.
Omg I've never subscribed to a new channel so quickly. This is awesome and I'm so excited to see what you two produce! I just recently discovered his instagram too and I love it
This is beautiful, reminds me of Sagan era cosmos. 🙂
I can't wait to enjoy the full series.
I love what you do, keeps me inspired to keep creating too, hoping I'm doing the same for others as you do for me and millions of others.
This was incredibly calming & amazing :)
I am 300% on board with "Hank Green meets Deep Look".
I’m here for the microcosmic drama. But in a soothing asmr way
Your voice was so calming in this. It soothed the brain.
I LOVE THIS. I’ve worked in an undergraduate biology lab for a few years and I could easily just watch things move around under a microscope for hours
Hank this is so cool and exciting!! Looking forward to discovering this captivating new world thanks to you and James.
Awesome video! Thank you for the new channel. I ALREADY LOVE IT
Thank you!!!!!! I've always been fascinated with the microscopic world!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wooo! New science for homeschool!
Thank you for making my planning both easy and far more enriching than I could manage on my own. 💜!
I love it! I am so with you on this, it brings a special kind of magic to my heart and I am so excited for these videos
Few things on the internet leave me feeling more calm then when I got there, so thank you for that! Also very excited to follow the family of Tardigrades. Might I suggest a reality TV style approach: "Keeping Up With the Tadigradians"

I remember in high school, the first time I ever saw a rotifer, it was the most mind-blowing thing. I’d never heard of them before, but there it was in my scope, seemingly chowing down on everything it came near. It was so alien but so tangible.
Moments like these are why I went to school for biology.
I heard about this the other day and was initially hesitant if I'd be interested but you sold me SOOOOO hard with this video! Love the alternate pacing and style, excited to check out the series!
Congrats on the new channel!! i really enjoyed the video, it was so calming & interesting so i'm more than happy to subscribe to it :)
I was just talking with my friends about this! These microorganisms are everywhere, in us and outside of us. And yet, we don't know enough about them! They can do amazing things and maybe change our world and create solutions that we haven't even imagined yet.
OH I LOVE THIS IDEA! Yes, the rapid-fire stuff is really fun and I'll always enjoy it. But this approach is clearly the output of an aesthetically maturing artist. Can't wait to watch!
This video was so soothing!! Better than any meditation or ASMR!! And I got two new youtube channels to passionately follow out of it!! Sweet!! I'm smiling ear to ear as I type this!! Thankyou for existing Hank!! :)
You sound much calmer than usual and I love it.
Would be thrilled to hear you as an audiobook narrator.
Omg! I'm so excited! The microscopic world has always fascinated me, and I'm so happy that you launched a whole channel about it! Thanks!
I find them squishy and creepy. If hank wasn't narrating, I probably would've freaked out and clicked away. Glad I stuck around though. Very interesting.
I adore the music! Extremely well done!
I love this! So excited for the new channel
You sold me! This looks great!
As someone working in an aquatics lab.... i LOVE THIS. Thank you, Hank, for refueling my passion for this subject!
I remember you mentioning it on the pod once and I have been looking forward for it since. Thanks Hank!😊
This was a total surprising but chill (and educational) video Hank.
Wow!! Hank, this is so amazing. I’m definitely following the new channel. Thanks.
I need this style of narration in my entire freaking life
Yes!!! So excited. Thank you Hank for sharing your wonder of the world! Your eyes are a beautiful new lens we get to peer through so thank you for letting us borrow your glasses :)
John in turtles all the way down, anxiously: are the microorganisms in my tummy me??? Then who am I, who would I be without them, if there are millions of living...
Hank scribbles a new youtube channel idea
Ahah, but great work though, hope it becomes... viral ;)
+
That pun is top-tier.
I started crying towards the end I love this so much it’s beautiful. I’m proud to be a biology major.
In a world where everyone is shouting this was very calming, I needed this. Thanks Hank, you did a good thing. I hope the other videos will be a nice calm break.
And so a legendary channel begins
I love this (saw first video, loved it) but next week's response video is going to be very interesting, as John literally wrote an entire book about his intense OCD phobia of bacteria crawling around inside of himself, and this video is 100% about describing those sorts of things in intense detail. Hope that doesn't matter at all and he loves this immensely!
This looks so coooool
YES!!! Been hoping for this since the possibility was mentioned on the podcast!!! Thank you! 💚
I don't know where you got this footage, but it does illustrate your point very well.
the footage is so HD and satisfying
I'm not a science fan, but I like it . The way you narrated it was really beautiful 👍
Thanks for this new channel!!
Just checked out the first video and I love it so much!
This looks so interesting, I can’t wait to learn more!
Another great episode of deep look!
Omg, this is lovely, and just what I needed to chill out after a long, busy day at work.
I'm excited for this new channel! Also, I would love to hear how John feels about this relation to the thought spirals related to our personal microbiomes!
Excited to learn more!
1) I just realized that watching and thinking about microoganisms gives me the same combination of existential awe and dread as thinking about the vastness of space
2) This music is so chill that, when mixed with said existential awe and dread, produces a heretofore unnamed emotion. Maybe I'll call it "Hank."
