As a UK subscriber I’ve seen Derren numerous times on stage. His work and collaboration with the great Andy Nyman just floors me.

Pulled the trigger on the hard cover as soon as it was available. Three chapters read and delighted to say its living up to the hype. His show Secrets in NYC was amazing - likely the best scripted/performed show I've seen. Post-show Derren was generous with his time and gracious to a fault. Thank you for the review. Always appreciate your time and efforts.

I’ve seen Derren a few times and his show are nothing but amazing from start to finish. His style and performance skills are top notch! And even though I understand some of his tricks it’s definitely doesn’t take anything away from just how good he is!!

@@magicorthodoxy I know you’ll enjoy it! It’s his way of taking a simple trick, reinventing to a whole new level! The ideas this man has are incredible!

Love that you have a story to tell along with an amazing diary from one of the greatest mentalist alive.
Thank you for this insight on the book. I can't wait to get my hands on a book.

Really looking forward to receiving a copy next week (i think and hope a hard cover). I just love Derren Brown and his books, they are always fun to read and even when there are little to no tricks in them, you learn so much more about performing magic, it's definitely worth reading his books. Thanks for the review! And have a lovely weekend!

You are correct, while not really being packed with scripted routines, methods, and/or gimmicks, Derren’s books share his experience and deeper understanding of performance while being rather entertaining. There’s a lot to read between the lines in his books too. Best wishes!

@b4uc2far95 and best wishes to you :-) I definitely learned a lot from his books, he just knows how to make a trick magic, and I guess that's when it becomes art

Everyone seeing a single person standing on stage without realizing how much work goes into appearing that way can be frustrating. This sounds like an interesting book. I kind of reached the point where I want to learn more about solving the problems of actually being a magician / Mentalist versus tricks and secret moves. I have a huge library of Secrets. But as I mature into being a professional magician, Im finding I want to know how all the other stuff works. Especially any kind tips for memorization and acting. I'm finding that acting is ultimatly the most important illusion a magician can do.

@@magicorthodoxy You are welcome! Thank you for your UA-cam Channel. I really enjoy it. When I was just getting into Magic I would read the descriptions of tricks and be totally blown away and expect some amazing Miracle to come in the mail. It would turn out to be just some junk that I could have made myself, if I only thought about it for a minute. You provide a great service!

I love your channel, but why does it often take you over 3 minutes to get to the damn point of what we're even talking about? It's almost as if you think that your channel is the only content we have time to watch?
