@@johnlabu1154 the animation itself is good but animation alone isnt what makes a scene, the direction, the angles, the storyboard, etc. is what elevates good animation and makes it look like godlike animation
Honestly it would be nice to have more videos that go indepth on not just the technical behind the pure animation but also in combination with the directing behind it, cause I'll still be wondering why some shots make something look better than another or clever use of making the animation look smooth but it's still in limited amount of frames. It's even harder to tell for Japanese animation considering directors and animators usually want to express their own, unique style.
Personally I don’t see the live action getting enough traction to cover over a thousand episodes/chapters worth of content. Unfortunately I doubt we’ll ever see 1015 in live action but I’d like to be proven wrong
I love that this scene is still so meaningful even to people who don't know the full context of all the callback shots and what's currently going on. Not only did they do a masterful job of bringing this scene to life through animation, Oda also did an amazing job showing the through line that the narrative has been following for the past 6~8 years. Truly an amazing payoff for investing your time into the story.

They were all scenes that we have seen already but animated from Luffy's perspective which (visually) we had no seen. You get to see Luffy's actual perspective of the events that have lead to this conflict and I think they did an amazing job of displaying that visually.

I'd love to see you break down some of Vincent Chansards contributions to the One Piece anime, since his trademark of making the 2D animation move in 3D space is awesome and interesting.

Yeah i think since a while one piece works with freelance animators from the westm we have a few people we know that work on one piece (not on this episode specifically but on other ones) and its really nice to see that toei is not gatekeeping working for onepiece :D

this is nothing. Episode 1062 is easiest the greatest animated episode of the entire series. Def recommend you guys to check it out. Def up there for best animated episode in the last 10 years.
I know art is interpreted differently and it is in the "eye of the beholder" and I like your all's reactions, but this is a mix of bad CGI, bad Animation, great Animation and decent CGI. One Piece animation gets worse every episode, wayyyy to much inconsistency. One frame is amazing animation and the next frame looks like an art student in 8th grade tried to trace it, lol. One Piece is supposed to feel and be One Piece, not a bad knock off of Naruto/Sailor Moon. This Arc and half way through the last arc, the animation started and feels nothing like the Manga.
The animation is good. Other shows like demon slayer and fate and bleach have been doing the same thing yet nobody criticizes them. Without even any constructive criticism you go on to lash onto one piece because it has better animation than your favourite show.
I love how you guys pointed out that even though One Piece's animation style has been greatly elevated compared to the first season/arc but it's still keeping some old school vibes which is the show's core itself. That is exactly the reason why I love One Piece so much ❤️ I'm no animator but hearing your analysis for this one is actually so informative. Thank you guys so much 😊

I loved this so much. Despite the fact that I already really appreciate the animators and the hard work they do, getting this kind of insight on small little details that are going on that most people (myself included) probably missed really helps me have a much deeper appreciation for the work being done.
My favorite part got skipped, the entire first half of the episode where we see Luffy talking about his dream in Yamato's imagination. But great video anyway.

the way we can have beautiful emotional episodes like 1015 and beautiful action episodes like 1062 in the same show is just incredible. both are MASTERPIECES of animation, but for different reasons. making scenery and making flashy attacks are VERY different styles, but the animators still manage to deliver peak on both ends
