HOW I REVIEW:
As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.

For all my videos I decided not to include links for the products. Everyone is living in different countries and therefore has to deal with different shipping and customs fees. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals.
For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.

I usually use Merino T-shirts or long sleeves and a merino jacket. It's an amazing material for all weather.
The biggest problem in humid environments is making sure I got plastic bags for my cameras, for when I go inside one those aircon places, so I don't get condensation. Merlino wool is awesome, but I'm allergic to any wool products, I found regular Hanes Xtemp stuff works, I got the shirts, shorts and socks. for keeping the wind and cold out I found a pull over shirt that is meant to be a under layer for motorcycle riding but works great for a light layer to keep wind and cold off, But I'm one of those crazy Californians I wear it with my shorts, it don't really get that cold here maybe lowest will be 30's I believe that would be single digits in Celsius most times in winter it only gets down to the 40's F, right now its 60F/ 16C
The shirt is a store brand and it is called WarmR.
edit Forgot I do have a North Face Gore-Tex rain jacket and its expensive but worth it,

Bo, LOOW is simply the word wool backward so it´s pronounced just like that 😉 glad you took my advice and got those and the boxers. They are the business.
For my trips to tropical climates I'm always wearing exofficio sports mesh under shirt and boxer briefs. They wick hard, dry fast, and keep the outer button up shirts dry. Lately I've been wearing arc'teryx skyline shirts, I can highly recommend those shirts too, light weight, fast drying, etc.
You can try and just wear the arc'teryx shirt by itself, but I think for me it would show sweat and I'm not a fan of that. I'll have to test that out next trip.
I haven't found any pants that I'm super into for travel, Prana are alright, but still feel hotter than I would like. Luckily I can mostly wear shorts. For shorts I wear O'Neill hybrid shorts, I dont remember the the exact one (they have a few types) but they have zippered front pockets, the pockets are mesh, they can be used to swim but look very similar to chinos.
Great video Bo. I've started to use Smartwool tshirts this year and I found them great. One thing that has not been covered in this video are shoes. When I travel I try to use a minimalistic approach to my clothes and shoes. I've found very useful goretex sneakers. They keep my feet dry even in raining conditions
Thanks, Stefano. In terms of footwear I always wear my Nike AirForce One mid top in the plane. They are comfortable but also high to keep my ankles warm if I need to. I also have Redwings and I find them also very comfortable once broken in, but they are just too big on the plane. When it comes to shoes, I really prefer sneakers and a more lets say "Style over function" approach. This is probably the only part I "can't" change in regards to a more travel function approach haha

Yes, air conditioning is terrible. I always wear a jacket inside a mall in Indonesia
As a female traveler I often substitute a quality pashmina in leiu of the neck warmer, although I have both, as it can be dressier and add suble colour. I often have tube style merino wool skirts that have the same qualities you discuss in a more feminine appearance. The only thing we differ in; I prefer the space saving Patagonia puff vests, folding in the pockets they a pack even smaller and protect chest snd areas most affected by colder air. My arms are fine in a mid length sleeve. I am still looking for mid length over t-shirt merino wool and hopefully companies will expand their lines.

Awesome video! I always travel with a Buff and a Beanie. I shave my head every day, so having a beanie is great to keep my head warm. I like having the buff for things like you mentioned, and I always wear it when I sleep since it's usually so cold. I want to add in a good Merino Wool shirt into my rotation while traveling, I've just had success with using a poly work out shirt that I can't justify a merino wool shirt. In the future though!

As someone who is conscious about wool and the welfare of the animal it is coming from [vegan] a great alternative to Merino Wool that shares pretty much all of its qualities it Tencel [or Lyocell] - brands like OrganicBasics and CDLP.
I love Alchemy Equipment outerwear. I have the older shell that accepts their zip-in puffy. I also like Wool and Prince for shirts. I use their AEL008 and AEL013 combo for luggage. For business, Ministry of Supply is my go-to for shirts and pants.
That's awesome. I'm really impressed by Alchemy Equipments quality, be it clothing or bags.
Great list Bo. I’d suggest getting a hoodie that’s VERY compact. Take a look at the new Unbound Merino Travel Hoodie for my recommendation. It’s Merino wool of course and packs up incredibly small. I’d also say check out Western Rise pants. I especially like their AT Slim line with the Evolution pant packing up smaller than any I’ve seen. The AT pant is like a really nice jean but using a technical fabric that doesn’t feel or look technical. It has 2 way stretch which I’ve found to be plenty but the Evolution pant is more in line with your Outlier Slim Dungarees just $50 USD cheaper and they pack even tighter.
You didn’t mention footwear. I wear 6 eyelet (rather than the standard 8 eyelet) Doc Martens which most people would consider crazy because you have to take them off and on at the airport which takes a bit longer but come on... For a few times getting on planes I’ll take a bit of inconvenience and a whole lot of comfort and style. I’ve always found it weird people pick shoes based on having to rake then off once or twice which may take less time but are way less comfortable and potentially less practical for when they arrive. I also pack AllBirds wool sneakers (the water proof version) and flip flops depending on where I’m going and/or where I’m staying (like for icky hostel shower use).
You wear the huge Doc Martens shoes for comfort while traveling? I don't disagree with them being great shoes but their such chunky shoes I can't imagine them being comfortable to wear on a plane and fit under the seat with your bag too. Otherwise I think those are all great recommendations and I will look into them!
yeahthatsright33 the pair I have aren’t as chunky as the bigger ones. Also I’m pretty short so leg room has never been an issue. The boots themselves once broken in of course are super comfortable.

However, for some reason my skin reacts allergic towards them. My legs actually start to itch a lot. At first I thought it was due to the nylon, but the Outlier use nylon as well and I don't have any problems with them. Other than that I found the fit and thee features of the AT line to be incredible.

Bo Ismono yikes, bad luck with the AT Slims. I wonder if it’s the different other elements in the fibre that’s effecting you or more likely it’s something in the water repellent. One of the things I love about the AT’s and something your very short watchers might like is even after heavy hemming (5.5” or so) the ankle hole is almost the identical size as unhemmed. I’ve rarely been able to wear Slim cut pants because after I hem them as much as I need to the ankle hole gets a lot bigger due to how the pant in tapered.
I had a similar issue with doc martens not looking quite right (I’m a lot shorter than you so the 8 eyelet Version took up a bit to much of my leg to look right I think) then I tried a 6 eyelet Version and it’s lower ankle Profile made it ok. Redwings are nice too. Sadly I look silly in high tops. I think keeping air off my ankles is one reason I like the boots as well. I do wish they were a tad lighter but it’s a trade off I’m used too. Unbound just released (2 days ago) an update to their original hoodie and the cut looks quite a bit better.
Last thought I forgot. I love the raincoat. It’s a great idea I never thought of getting something like that and using it as an outer shell adding layers underneath as needed but always having the rain and win coverage of the rain cost. We don’t get as cold as Hamburg in Vancouver but we do get cold for. a couple of months and we sure get rain. I’ll have to find one that fits me.

Merino actually rocks and I've used it extensively. Recently I invested in two Swedish merino t-shirts from Son of a Tailor, actually made to measure in Europe (Portugal). Hefty price-tag, that's why I used the term 'investment'...
I wish they had a larger range but Woolday in Germany (www.woolday.eu) make amazing merino t-shirts and dress shirts.
The only wool products I have traveled with so far are some merino wool socks from Patagonia. They work great actually! I’ve been interested in purchasing a wool shirt for travel but was not totally convinced... Until now! Thanks for the suggestions Bo. I will look into the brands you mentioned and hope they have good selections for women. Stay safe!

Hey Bo, have you ever seen or picked up any of the merino products from Aldi (since you live in Hamburg, I'm assuming there are plenty of Aldi stores there)? Aldis in Australia sell merino clothing, including t-shirts, one or maybe two times per year. The quality seems great and they are about 1/3 the price of other brands (but obviously you need to be patient to buy them)

Does your puffy jacket replace a fleece or sweatshirt? I like the puffy and rain shell combo but with colder climates do you toss in a full zip fleece or a quarter zip over your T’s?
Great video. I've been thinking about trying a Merino wool t shirt, but my fear has always been that it would be too itchy or too hot.
Western Rise and a few other vendors have "travel pants" that seem to repel water and look very nice. Have you tried anything similar before?
Thanks, Mark. Some merino wool can get itchy, but not neccessarily like regular wool. It is a very soft material. I would recommend to try one from olivers or Loow. They are very soft.

I really want those Outlier pants tho, I really like them. Only issue is tryna size myself online, are they true to size?

Thanks, Jacob. Yes, merino is very expensive. However considering that you can wear them longer (in regards to washing) thisshould a) reduce the amount of water that you need (in theory) and b) they should last longer. So I would consider this an investment. The outlier pants are pretty true to size. I wear the same size in Levis. Furthermore, they are pretty stretchy, which makes also very comfortable as well

Nice video Bo. For traveling I prefer to wear a shirt which is made from a Merino and Tencel mix. I especially like the ones from Seagale.fr Because they are from France they also ship fast and cheap to Germany :D

As soon as they start selling merino t-shirts they'll be a one stop shop (hopefully they do some day, since they already carry other merino products)! The down jacket, pocketable parka and airism boxers have served me very well. They even sell a travel bag that would be good enough.

No I don't. Unfortunately, my Indonesian language is very basic. I can order food, but that's about it haha

I have waist 30 and yes I usually like to fold my pants at the end. They actually have two versions the slim and the strong dungarees. The slim are very cool and let a lot of air through. Perfect for warm weather

@Bo: how do you like Loow underwear since it is made from 100% merino ... i guess it is not wise to mashine wash them? Usually boxers are made with merino/nylon/elastan composite. How is with Loow durability in this regard? Thanks!
I love them. I wash them in the washing machine, mainly because I am lazy to hand wash them. And they are still holding up well. I really like wearing them especially on the motorcycle where there is a lot of change of temperature. When I am riding the wind can be chilly and as soon as I stand still it gets pretty warm. So having something temperature regulating like Merino helps a lot

I completely disagree with merino wool clothes for traveling since you may have someone wash your clothese for you and they will ruin them. Stick with cotton and synthetic clothing. They cannot ruin those clothese as much.
Yes, if you let someone else wash them, this could happen. But since they dry quickly why not safe some money on that end and wash yourself? That's what I prefer to do because in Europe hotel washing is extremely expensive
Nylon? Nylon in your pants will not annul all the merino goodness of your boxer shorts ?
In the beginning, I thought so too. But this is actually very breatheable and soft from my experience. Furthermore, it is very stretchy which makes them extremly comfortable.

Yes, Merino wool is very expensive unfortunately. However, it is a very good investment. If you look for something cheaper, you could also go with sportswear. Some shirts from Nike or UnderArmor for instance have similar features (e.g. dry fast and are lightweight) like merino wool. Also some have cooling OR warming features (but not both at the same time). These sometimes you can find on sale.
