300hp, 273ft-lbs, in a *hatchback* and "That may not sound like a lot." Man, if you kids don't get off my lawn... that's 50hp more than the original 911 turbo.
C5 corvettes had just 315 People forgot that 300hp used to be big horsepower for factory cars. The mighty 2jz of the mk4 supra had just over 300hp from the factory. This thing is gonna an absolute weapon on track and I can't wait to see the aftermarket does to these.
I couldn't help but notice the editors error. The Civic Type R makes 315 hp and 310 lb ft of torque. But the GR Corolla is superior in most if not all ways
I’m happy that Toyota is actually serious about making cars like these instead of doing like an appearance package with a CVT. Kinda sad there isn’t Focus RS, Evo and STI for competition anymore.
KBB please tell us how to convince Toyota to sell directly to consumer and bypass greedy dealers. Let’s unite and refuse to pay above MSRP. I’m okay with waiting my turn and waiting even years so long is at the MSRP with zero market adjustments.
They literally can't..the new dealer association along with corrupt politicians wrote laws to make it illegal for dealers to sell directly to consumer. And Toyota doesn't have its own service centers so it has to be nice to dealers and play along.
🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 HELL YES! LYN TESTING THE GR! RESPECT LYN. THANKS KBB. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 BEEN WAITING FOR HER THOUGHTS. Next... her comp review with vw r, type r, sti!
Wow I never thought Toyota would start acting like BMW offering special editions for crazy money. When you include the dealers with their $15K surcharge even the plain base model will probably set you back $50K and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Morizo edition going for close to $70K. Yes it's a great little car I just hope they eventually build a sufficient number so that they don't exclusively end up all being traded by speculators!
It's been 15 hours since the upload, and there is not a single sweaty comment about door handles. So I have to be that disgusting internet degenerate and bring it up. Sorry Lyn, but the innuendo iguana will not be denied.
There's "a ton" of "a ton" expressions 6 minutes in. Pretty sloppy, you guys normally do better than this. And this is a larger and heavier GR Yaris - not sure if that was mentioned.
Why? This engine has been proven to a good one.. Just look what the Europeans did to the gr yaris engine. Plus it has more hp per cylinder then the type r lol
@@ju4121 I'm sorry did I offend you by expressing how I would spend my money? Feel free to purchase the vehicle for me and then I can live up to your standards. Now I'm going to drink my coffee if that's okay with you and I definitely hope that's not offensive
@@ju4121 It all comes down to the potential and efficiency of the engine. The K series engine from Honda in the Type R is ahead of the competiton in this segment in its engineering. The way it delivers power and torque across all of the powerband is ahead of engines like the ones in the GR Corolla, the Elantra N and the Golf R.

First gen NSX started out at 270 hp

@@02bluehawk go look at what they do to the Yaris. They can hit 500 hp easy but the second they up the rev limit and it blows rather quickly.

Lyn, Mike, and Micah truly always make the best videos!
This will make a lot of owners happy.
Finally, Toyota puts out their own car that really gets in the game.
By the way, nice job, Lynn! Looks like lots of fun.
Thanks for the daily driving review. Everyone else is track only👍🏼

Lyn, great review. Thanks.
I’m loving Toyota more these days!❤️ I do wish they’d make a Sedan version with The GR Yaris detuned version to compete with the Civic Si..

I like this more then the supra
So mad that subaru canceled the STI. But so happy that Toyota jumped in the game. The only question is this or the Type R.
The NEW Type R is hideous looking. While I'm not into the boy racer looks (Sure, says a 2020 STI Owner) I think the current Type R, looks better.
Type R for the looks
FWD vs AWD
Or an Elantra N or a Golf R?
Get whatever you can get without dealer markups.
So what is a WRX again?

Now, if only Toyota would ensure that dealers don't put any markups.
what about road and wind noise??
How's the cabin noise?

Anyone paying 15k markups on a 3 cylinder Corolla hatchback is an idiot..
I was hoping Ms. Woodard would do this one! 💯
Great review Lyn! Micah, please, a comparo with this car, the VW Golf R and a Civic Type R!!!!
Wow! Toyota has finally 'thrown a frickin' bone' to markets it bypassed with the real deal GR Yaris. 😁
And the dealerships will only add a $20,000 premium over MSRP
thats america for you :) L
Are they all 3 cylinders?
Yes
Daaaamn that's a nice looking Toyota
ms Lynn always for the win
Can't wait to sell my taco and get this!
This car is heartbreakingly expensive. I want one SO bad but it’s out of reach, and that’s before dealer scum mark it up to new heights
too bad getting one for MSRP will be almost impossible.
1.6t to pump out 300hp???!!!
Yep :)
and they have been modified up to 500hp with stock engine internals
Nice!
If I was still young… maybe they will make a lexus version for us middle aged folk. Like an understated, sleeper sedan with some ooomph.
"middle age", I'd have to live to 144. Not old compared to a Redwood.
Why does that lady keep walking away from the camera? Does she keep forgetting she is supposed to do more of a review?

That's 500lbs more than the GR Yaris
they gonna sell sh** ton of these, dont they
max torq to 3000 to 5500 rpm. what.
Toyota is on fire... I love the Supra as well but the GR Corolla seems more complete as a daily with hatchback to replace my Mazda3 hatch
3300 pounds is not a light vehicle, I would rather have had the Yaris GR instead.
yup but sadly they think americans ONLY want large vehicles. it's insane
Why no option for automatic
It’s in development
Oh ok how do you know?

Oh plz no lol. A standard is all out true driving.
Toyota put their mouth where their money is! Oh my…
What’s this girls @
50K for a 3-cylinder.......no thanks.
Well they did take out the back seat
So it’s ok for bmw to charge $150k for the i8? This 3 cylinder has more power than theirs.
I might just trade my Focus ST for this car
I’m in the exact same boat.

50k no thank you 😢
60K is what you pay for a Boxster. 50K is reasonable given how they described it.

Too expensive for the good one, there’s better out there, and 25k in go fast parts on a SE manual corolla would eat this thing’s lunch.. fail Toyota..
