what is the point of all the new releases when you can't get one? The only car I could find in my area without markup is 2022 Corolla. All others you got to wait for 3 months plus $5K markup.
Toyota ticked all the boxes except in two categories... Price and that front grill... looks matter but I guess its pretty difficult to buff out the bones of a Corolla
Wish we had the lottery for these GR Corollas like they are doing in Japan......the US dealers are just showing their worst facets with how they marking up this admittedly great car. Just remember that used M2 Comps, AMG A45s etc. are out there for the crazy mark up prices being asked for GR Corollas.
Where are the reviews on the Core edition? The Circuit and Morizo will be scarce and priced out of reach for most. Why keep reviewing on the trims that we can’t have??
The Circuit edition is essentially a cosmetic package. If you buy a Core with the Performance package (which most of them come equipped with) you have the exact same driving experience as the Circuit.
Don't get me wrong I like that Toyota built the GR Corolla but the TRD Camry 3.5 V6, Supra 3.0 I6 and even the RAV4 Prime make more horsepower, weigh the same or more and return better MPG.

How about all these big and powerful journalists come together and bash scum bag dealers for mark ups! This year was an amazing year for cars. Many of fun new models have been released. Many that were made for the WORKING CLASS but unfortunately greedy dealers took those cars and made them either unaffordable for some or completely unjustifiable and stupid purchase for others. CIVIC TYPE R , GR COROLLA , GOLF R! Those are all average consumer cars and they are unattainable! We're not talking GT4RS here, it's a damn Corolla! Something had to change and the only way it can be done is by recognition, power and social media. Automotive journalist, manufacturers, headquarters of north America, please fix this!!
In Ontario, you can only order the core, $48,700 .... There is a dealer fee of 1221 . Never heard about a dealer fee in Canada before. This is getting more ridiculous 😂. As the days go by. I make inquiries to 4 dealers. None of now if they would even get one. No dealership contacted me to say they are expecting one. You have so many other choices. Toyota is also contributing to the problem by keeping production low. I will stick with Mazda the cx 70 will be my next car.
Was so excited when they announced these, but with the market right now I don't have a snowballs chance in hell at being able to afford one. Like I get some markups when they're brand new, but what's been going on lately is just robbery.
You don't need a track car. Will stick with the lower priced XSE Corolla that gets better gas milege and a much more comfortable ride with more amenities.
Less cylinders is generally more efficient actually, even given the same displacement. Wayyyy too many factors to say it being three cylinders is why it's not good on gas.
Would be nice to be able to place an order and just wait like they do in Japan and not get screwed with mark ups. Toyota and Honda can stuff these cars.
I'm not really sure how you can put a $40,000 car if you're lucky to get one at that price is considered affordable. Hear me out the average American family make 74,000 annually the average purchase price of a new car in 2023 was almost $47,000 most financial planners in the United States will tell you not to spend more than 30% of your annual income on the purchase price of a vehicle so that would equate to $22,200 is what the average American family can afford and you're calling this vehicle affordable 🙄 People are buying cars they can't afford. This is the American way now isn't it🤔
This car is fast enough. Auto journalists will always complain. The real issue is it is over priced in Canada. Not many will buy, Toyota will say not enough consumers are buying. therefore, we will stop building. Remember the Lexus gs 350.. that is exactly the same scenario...

The GR Corolla WAS intended to have high markups. Toyota is very open and honest about how they are creating artificial scarcity.
what is the point of all the new releases when you can't get one? The only car I could find in my area without markup is 2022 Corolla. All others you got to wait for 3 months plus $5K markup.
You nailed this review
Is it still a good car for 50-60k tho
Great car but incredibly hard to either find or get anywhere near MSRP
Great stuff!
Toyota ticked all the boxes except in two categories...
Price and that front grill... looks matter but I guess its pretty difficult to buff out the bones of a Corolla
Toyota gr Corolla simply awesome Cape Town South Africa
Random arm at 9:32
Great episode.. but who's hand was that🤣🤣
You fellas please explain to me why that’s their problem? They can’t help what dealerships do, how you fellas go to the dealerships picket
I wish the GR Yaris had slightly more usable rear seats
The GRC doesn't have that much room in the back either
Affordability lol. Good luck at your local dealer.
Can tell by the in car camera the right quality is too stiff
Where are the reviews on the Core edition? The Circuit and Morizo will be scarce and priced out of reach for most. Why keep reviewing on the trims that we can’t have??
The Circuit edition is essentially a cosmetic package. If you buy a Core with the Performance package (which most of them come equipped with) you have the exact same driving experience as the Circuit.
Why a small high strung 3cyl when it can only return 20mpg? That sure dings it in the practicality department.
The new Prius has some pep + practicality. If you are going all in on performance, you don't get something for nothing
Don't get me wrong I like that Toyota built the GR Corolla but the TRD Camry 3.5 V6, Supra 3.0 I6 and even the RAV4 Prime make more horsepower, weigh the same or more and return better MPG.
The G16E-GTS was developed for the WRC where every kg counts. This engine only weighs 109kg.
Haven't been to Grattan in 30 years. Loved racing there in my IT/A AE86 Corolla. I'm gonna see if I can order a Corolla next month, but proving hard to get!
If you didn't order it before it was announced you're not getting one.
@@aluisious I work at HQ. Pretty sure I will though they are only trickling them out for us to get.
Lol @ the affordability in the title....
Not a single mention of turbo lag / throttle response.
my dream car
How much?!?!
They're making such a limited run of the Honda R and the Toyota GR wow I guess that's what makes them special! Maybe won't have the opportunity to buy one?
Who was the poor guy stuck in the back seat?
I'm hoping Toyota ramps up production but given the fact these are built in Japan I doubt it
Was so excited when they announced these, but with the market right now I don't have a snowballs chance in hell at being able to afford one. Like I get some markups when they're brand new, but what's been going on lately is just robbery.
This looks like the old 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 except with all wheel drive . This is probably what the Mazdaspeed 3 should of been .
Sweet car for sure
You don't need a track car. Will stick with the lower priced XSE Corolla that gets better gas milege and a much more comfortable ride with more amenities.
@CarDriver01. How do I do that?
How do the make a car with no arm rest 🤦🏾♂️
YES
They were so close to a perfect car, and then they put a fuel sucking 3cyl in this… for what? 1.6L-2.0L turbo I4 is what should be in this
Less cylinders is generally more efficient actually, even given the same displacement. Wayyyy too many factors to say it being three cylinders is why it's not good on gas.
Would be nice to be able to place an order and just wait like they do in Japan and not get screwed with mark ups. Toyota and Honda can stuff these cars.
$44k for this? Hell nah! This is not including extras.
Now if only you can buy one at msrp! Come on @toyotausa.
I'm sure there's something going on here that I don't understand but why the hell are companies coming out with these 3 cylinder engines???
Maybe us normal enthusiasts will finally be able to get one come 2025 or 26
I'm not really sure how you can put a $40,000 car if you're lucky to get one at that price is considered affordable. This is the American way now isn't it🤔
love the seat design.
This car is fast enough. Auto journalists will always complain. The real issue is it is over priced in Canada. Not many will buy, Toyota will say not enough consumers are buying. therefore, we will stop building. Remember the Lexus gs 350.. that is exactly the same scenario...
This is a 42k minimum, and that's assuming you're not paying above MSRP, which you will. Let's not call this affordable.
And affordable sports hatch for the people but... not for the people after unobtanium production numbers and dealer markups.
such a great car
Most reviewers found the FWD TypeR was more fun and had oversteer then the AWD GR Corolla which felt more stable and understeer. Hoping suspension setups or a refresh would make it more fun to drive.
Yeah the GR's feel more controlled. Need to drive it faster or it seems too easy. Having said the reviews that I've seen they are having alot of fun. Ie. This review, throttle house, straight pipes etc.
Focus RS or....?
The RS is junk, engine is whack. I wish that wasn't the case cuz it's a dope car.
Corolla FX-16 Vibes
Nice car but ridiculously expensive
Hope Toyota can still build fun and reliable cars going into the electric era.
There will be no electric era my man
The civic Type R finally has competition.
9:30 the hand appears.
