Press the 3rd button on the left to exit dtmf. 👌
Which button is that?
@@HamRadioDX Underneath the 2nd ptt. The flashlight/option or whatever button it’s called.
@@baileymoto Ah nice, legend!
Bricked on firmware update. Firmware was supposed to fix all the problems but bricked mine, even though I followed directions exactly. Some brick on update, some don't. Good luck.
For new users, "programming" in Ham world means configuration upload and download, not programming the firmware.

I agree. Its a good $35 radio. Not a fan of the KILL STUN feature though. I bought a second radio. Had all kinds of problems with it getting killed. Came out of the box that way. Followed all the poorly written directions and video from TidRadio to no avail. Contacted Tech Support e-mail and never got an answer. Phone line was always busy. Only way to bring it back was to do a hard reset and reload memory. Very frustrating. Funny thing was that I never had both radios turned on at the same time. Go figure. I sent it back after three incidents. Several other users have experienced the same problem. Bad batch of radios? Who knows. I'll stick with one for now. Here's an idea for you Hayden. Why don't you do a detailed step by step video for us idiots on how to enable and disable this feature. All anyone has done so far is unboxings, features, functions etc.
TidRadio support tried to gaslight me when I pointed out their TOS was illegal in most western countries. No one who reviews TidRadio equip has disclosed this !
You can get out of DTMF mode by pressing smaller button under the dual PTT buttons.
Quick question… wouldn’t one require a TRI-BAND antenna for High Frequency receive abilities?
From now on all Ham radio users should only buy rigs/handhelds that allow firmware community.
Hi Guys
Can this Cignus NX100 Gen2 - a POC handheld radio used in Oz?
FINALLY an inexpensive ht that can display BOTH freq & channel name when scrolling through the channels. Goodbye Baofeng.
Hard pressed to beat the tidradio h3 and h8 they are as spec or better 😊😊
Did you see the option to Hold the number "3" key & "PTT" when you power up the radio? A screen appears with Options: 1. HAM, 2. GMRS, 3. NORMAL
I bought one, just got it yesterday and wanted to program with CHIRP but neither a PC or Mac will recognize it and install a com port when connected via USB-C. I have tried different PC and different Mac, tried different USB-C cables and no luck. Guess I will have to pull out the Baofeng/Kenwood interface cable.
You may need the driver for the USB to work halfway down the page here - walkietalkiesoftware.com/portal/index/software.html
I love both the H8 and the H3, but there is still an issue with the mic gain control in the H3 doing nothing when adjusted. Hopefully they'll get that fixed with another firmware update, as the recent update did not fix it.
For the price it is the best radio at this time for all the features and programming options. Hope it compels other manufactures to compete and potentially improve upon it.
Any issues buying with buying these from overseas, are they an approved radio? Thanks for the video just subscribed to the channel 👍
Only make sure that you’re authorized to use them (on ham radio bands only) and you need a ham licence to use.
I bought one but sent it back because it was too small, could hardly read the screen. I spend the extra and got the TD-H8. Please with that one.
Well I guess my question would be, do they mysteriously go deaf after a short time like my 2 "clean" GT-5R's did......... (Ok, I'm going to have to try a factory reset to see if that fixes)
What is dtmf ? what do you use it for ?
Dual tone multi frequency aka touch tones. Used for dialing things such as EchoLink, IRLP, Allstar etc and controlling “stuff” at the other end of radio links
These are fun for the price, and then a good give away later to pass on the hobby!
Yep cheap enough that when you upgrade, pass them down to someone else!
Hi Boyz, where can I get 1 of these to try?
@@Speedi-tm5dm Check the link in the description
most of these radio's have a PTT-ID encode. Does this have a decode?
Has PTT ID, menu 37.
I Wish Quansheng UVK5/6 Would Do The USB-C Programing Thing Because I Have TTree Quansheng UVK6s And Non Of Them I Can Connect To Pc :( !
oh no! not another HT!
Not sure these are the 'best'. Our H3s TX and RX approx 1/4 mile line of sight on high/wideband. One hears and transmits clearly at 1/4 mile and the other transmits clearly, but hears static with voice mixed in. Our Retevis NR30s are crystal clear 12 miles line of sight and the UV5G+ transmits and receives clearly on same line of sight at 9miles. Both H3s are setup the same, but clearly fall short in my opinion.
Another cheap HT? All of my HTs are cheap as I do a lot of field work. My most recent cheap HT was the Revet RA89. Its main selling point for me was the IP68 rating; I can tip my canoe and not ruin my HT. I have my ham and GMRS license so I unlocked the HT for GMRS and maritime operation. My cheap Feng better ants will not work on the RA89, but that's a good excuse to buy a nice Signal Stuff ant. 73, KF0NNQ.
Hi when you say $35 is that Aud as you are Australian
I am Australian, that's correct
@@HamRadioDXso that’s $35 AUD thanks for sorting that out for me and the other viewers of your great channel
No probs champ 👍
program via BT also! no cables at all!
That’s right 👍
It looks like the tidradio is better than the beofeng, and if you buy two, it's about the same price .
Well, it can only be a ham radio or a GMRS radio but not both at the same time, not legally anyway, even technically it may work .
Please stop reviewing new handhelds, I am compelled to buy them after your reviews, cant stop myself!! 😀
Do you know anything about the ethics of this manufacturer? I mean if they're selling a radio for $35, are they paying their staff? Are they using child labour?
Got 1 thay crap
Why's that?
Bought an AirPod radio on your recommendation. The keypad has unreadable dark blue text on dark background ! Impractical waste of money. Thanks mate !
I never recommended an AirPod radio.
@@HamRadioDX Will watch back to see. But when you reviewed the AirPod you did not mention the obvious when you had it in you hand. Pity to have to buy something to see its design flaw, when you were trusted to see literally first hand. Will be more wary of your reviews in future. This annoys me more, as i'm fairly sure you know more about transceiver tech than most hams, and have seen more new equip than +90% of hams.
@@sparxz2145 Again, I never reviewed any radio called an Airpod. Dunno what you mean by "not mentioning the obvious". You make your own decisions, I don't control them.
It says only US$6.99 for freight to VK,. that can't be right?
I thought the same - but that is what came up when I entered my address
