Congrats to Casio! Opposite to so many boring designs of their analog watches, this one looks so refreshing. I really hope they'll start producing more interesting analog designs like this one. For example, I'd like to see MQ-24 in a steel case and with various color options, and with tough solar. Tho, I guess they don't want to do that, because they'll step into Citizen's territory. Maybe they have a deal... who knows?

This one certainly stands out with its sleek rectangular design and the moon phase complication.

@@ebin2868 Not many Edf to choose from, since 90% of them are cronographs. And I didn't see anything new from this series.
Classic MTPs are pretty much all boring, except Duro.
Further on, only 2 basic models from the Oceanus line are interesting, the rest are too busy...and expensive.
All the rest interesting Casio analog models are either discontinued, or very rare to find.
This one is not my cup of tea (I prefer field/pilots), but I still like they've dared to make something new, considering their usual product lines.
I kinda like it. If Casio could get the price down to around $60 (which I think they really could, it's pretty simple) and made it more available and known, they could have a hot seller. Or if they left it at $100 put/make a module that added a few features like solar and provided a mesh band. I think the design and look of the watch has a LOT of potential.
Like all newer releases, if Casio continues to produce it, the price will certainly come down.
I'm still in love with my $14 Casio Royale and I've got 1/2 of a ten year battery yet to go.
With Sapphire Glass and Milano Mesh Bracelet that could be a great seller for a Hundred.

The silver dial with the mesh bracelet is my choice. Absolutely beautiful combination - not too childish, not too formal, and not too similar to a smartwatch (like the black dial variant is).
The watch dial appears to be scowling at you with the moonphase 'mouth' and day/date 'eyes'.
It seems Casio is even trolling it's customers.

Imagine if it were hydromodded. It would look even more like an apple watch due to making it look more like a display with the increased viewing angles.

It should be nicknamed the Casio Grumpy. Once I saw the grumpy looking face, sundials and moonphase, I could not unsee it.
I think that this is one of the most *fun* Casios I've seen outside of their calculator watches. Good show, Casio! 👍

Casio has launched some really nice stainless steel options lately, would love if they just went the extra bit and added sapphire crystal to their stainless steel offerings
They have sapphire on some of their Edifice watches, and to me those three handers are peak Casio bargain. Like a budget Oceanus if you know what I mean

Casio never disappoints.
It looks ok to me. The thing I love about a quartz is that I can just pick it up and throw it on with little fuss. This thing just feels like it has too many fiddly bits to keep track of and futz around with such as moon phase and date complications especially if it is only worn a few times a month.
I'm used to my smartwatch with the screen full of information, so this Casio is nothing in comparison, with the advantage that I don't have to worry about charging it for years.
I love this! Looks like the guys over at Casio are fans of H. Moser. Btw, I love that little appearance of your pet at 6'20.

this is the thing i really love about Casio. cheap as chips yet second hand hits the marker more consistently than other more expensive watch.
i have a citizen titanium eco-drive that misses most markers, including the 12, and the service center told me that i need to get an Atessa if i want accurate second hand 😅
granted my current batch of Casio analogue all comes with the tough movement auto alignment feature, but i know for a fact that even the cheap Casio i owned in the past all hit the markers.
Gotta love Casio.

@@thisisthomas2 good that you got lucky. I personally don't have much experience with Citizen and am merely retelling what I was told by Citizen service center about having to go up to Atessa level to get more consistent alignment.
Yay! A watch that shows me the time when I look at it. Every. Single. Time. Smart watches, including the Apple Watch, persistently forget that the ultimate purpose of a watch is to tell time, at a glance. If I have to touch the screen when I want to know the time, I'm not interested.
I was tempted, but once the M105 first showed up, I realized I could never get over the grumpy face. I’m definitely going to get myself one of the M105 plainer Moon Tanks.
That 105 DOES look nice! But seems silly to have a moon phase but no date window. It sure does look good, though!

I have a Timex Smartwatch that also has a strong resemblance to an Applewatch, people have mistaken it on severla occasions. This may not have smart features but the stainless steel case and moonphase are a nice trade.

I was looking to buy a moonphase watch some months ago and this Casio came up in my search. Casio also does a round face version for this model with many choices of colour. It was really tempting for me, especially the round-face turquoise/tiffany blue one, but I opted for a vintage Casio moonphase instead. Casio has made many moonphase watches over the decades, some of which are really nice as vintage timepieces now.
I am legit pissed that they've only focused on certain markets with this watch and made it hard to get. It is a knock out and I want one so bad.

I used to love smartwatches but I may have already been past that phase. Sure they are useful but they just don't last, I loved the features but over the years I began to use them less and less, the daily charging became a hassle, and longevity after 5+yrs it'll probably be replaced or in the garbage dump somewhere.
I began to slowly appreciate good old school watches more pay less for something that lasts nearly forever, hell my childhood g-shock still works just need to replace the resin bands and it will be good to go.
I like it. I don't want it, but it's neat, simple and it's a watch. If it was a chrono, I think I'd try to find one of these.

Dude! Thanks for showing this one to UA-cam. I never knew it existed. A $100 moonphase!? Hopped on EBay and snagged a one with a black face and steel band for $105. I’ll be swapping the metal band for a black leather one and wearing it as a dress watch lol

Bell and Ross numbers and markers. Nod to Seiko for the date wheel and if you look closely at the sub dials and moon phase a nod to KC and his clown watch. All wrapped up in an iWatch case.

It's nice. Day, Date, exactly what you need. Moon phase is a bonus. Steel case. A sapphire crystal would be a worthy mod or upgrade. It's on my - to buy - list. A deployment clasp & she's done. A black one on a nato strap for a different vibe. Pair complete.
Hey Jody, again a great review. May I have a suggestion for a video? How about looking at affordeable perpetual calendar watches. Regardless if quartz or mechanical. Bonus points for including high precision quartz (like VHP models from Longines) or even annual calendar or full calendar options with moonphases. Thank you upfront, Pavol from Austria 😉

Best Casio I have seen since the '80s.
The MTP M300 too looks great. Same dial layout and functions but with a round case. Also has panda variations.
Crisp clean and simple forget the Apple references its a little gem.
The 8 bit brew is a good faux apple watch. It's the same shape and the analog dial is pixelated.
I saw some of these for sale on Aliexpress but I'm a bit skeptical. Would love to hear if anyone has ordered from there and how their experience was.

The recent announcement of these models (or more precisely the "tank" variant, MTP-M105L) really interested me, and it's great to see a detailed review.
Moon phase watches are usually not inexpensive. I could be wrong as I never bothered with it, ages ago with a Casio digital watch it had the moon phase using LCD in a circle.

Saw tonnes of these square version and the round dial version whilte in Thailand, but the white one was the rarest to find. Nice watch for a bit of fun
I have a cheap health tracker / watch called the Q25 that looks exactly like this one, but plastic. I use it everyday.
The Skagen "Ryle" also has a similar aesthetic for just over a hundred USD and is solar powered. No cool complications though

Nice watch but they could have found a way to do away with the thick black border around the dial. It would have looked nicer and bigger if the dial extended all the way to the steel bezel. Love the fact that they included a moonphase. I have the same style of moonphase on my Hook+Gaff Sportfisher II but its upturned so it looks like a smile and not a frown.
I believe the black bezel is intentional, since apple watches have them as well, when the screen is turned on. (;
Nice watch, but I do wish it was a bit smaller and thinner. I think 34mm for a square watch is like a 46mm round watch.

The Casio is making a mad face because it knows that it can't shift the day but instead it was for moonphase, which is unreasonable

Great video as always. :) I always looked at it the other way round. The Apple Watch bears more than a passing resemblance to the Casio CA-53W. Anyway this new one is ok but it looks more like a $50 watch to me..
If you want you can make a video on a particular model of Indian watch brand Titan. It is Titan Edge. I think the case shape is similar to this, but extremely thin & it looks so elegant that you won’t believe.

The date is basically useless. You would be counting the markers just to get the correct date. So it's more for looks.
This is the kinda thing id need to see irl to want to buy or not. But im not in an industry where everyone around me has an apple watch to undermine

When I want to troll an Apple watch owner i ask them how long the battery lasts "2 days" then I show them the the worlds "10 year battery" on my Casio.
I kinda like it! I don't wear an Apple Watch and am usually not much of a fan of square/rectangular watches. I probably won't spend $100 on one but on down the road, if a used one comes up for $30 to $50, I might snag one. I'm definitely a fan of Casio in general and anyone that trolls Apple gets a vote from me.
