I find it quite interesting how we’re seeing a ton of rather niche and smaller groups grow exponentially due to the sudden influx of new people in the cRPG genre after hits such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and subsequently the rise of channels like yours as championing ambassadors of the genre. May anyone who reads this have a nice day and wander in wisdom.
I'll bet that goes hand in hand with the big company layoffs that continue to go on making sure there's a large pool of experienced people looking for work. Indie seems to be thriving.
@@Oceanmaster17 Interdimensional Escalations and it's sequel Devilish Deals were two that I liked the most when I played. If anyone have any 2024 adventures to recommend: I would love to try new ones.

I'm not usually one for voice acting, but in this case more interplay between the voice sets would be a real big selling point for me.
It was TOTALLY unexpected ! I am deep inside the Solasta community, talk with the devs, and did not know at all there was a teaser ready that would be shown ! :D
Solasta 1 (especially the DLCs) were a blast. For those who didn’t play, what they did was focus on exploration and combat. They spent their dev money on how the game engine handled those, and the result was a blast. Their implementation of spider climb was a blast, and they had some fun environments where you could make great use of it in combat. I hope they continue with this focus. It was a bit unique compared to other studios.
After this announcement I picked up Palace of Ice and started a new play, I am reminded just how good Solasta is, both in gameplay and QoL/usability/design choices. I'm really excited to see the evolution of the game because TA comes across as proper TTRPG wonks.
As someone whose more of a story/roleplayer I bounced off of Solasta 1 but I agree with your sentiment they really captured everything in the 5e srd. They just fell off in the story telling and roleplaying side.
@ I agree that’s where they fell off. As an indie, they only had so much dev time and money, and they focused on the combat/exploration. I will say that in the DLCs, they did improve the story/role playing aspects. Still doesn’t rise to the level of Larian or Owlcat game, but it is definitely improved. Curious to see how they handle it in the new game. I tend to think it’ll probably match the level of their DLCs, plus some decent voice acting, but not more. They’ve taken up a big task with trying to bring the graphics up to AAA level.
I might have judged it too quick, played through the intro part of the story and put it down. Guess I should give it another chance before solasta2 hits
How does the mod work? Would it count the character level as one class? Or the regular multi-classing with seperate levels on class but has the sum of the class levels for character level?
I'm really happy for this small studio to be so successful that they can make a sequal. I really enjoyed Solasta's gameplay though the presentation could be a bit rough. They definetly need to make the UI fit into the fantasy world. It always looked like a placeholder graphic.
I am really glad to see a 2nd one. The world was interesting and gameplay was solid. I have rarely seen flight and climb mechanics implemented in a CRPG.
I confirm it is a different continent, therefore with different cultures, which brings different creatures and they plan to create new subclasses adapted to those cultures, realms, factions. Congrats Mortismal: your info was all good here (which is not obvious!).
I generally don't care about Early Access titles, but this will be a day 1 purchase for me. Solasta 1 was awesome and the tools for custom campaigns was a big selling point. I don't mind the linear approach to the MQ, as long as we are able to explore a lot more side stuff than in original one. And I really appreciated the fact, that all dialogues were voice-acted, even if a bit janky. The party banter that would be based on various personalities was super fun.
I didn't rate Solasta in the same league as Rogue Trader, PF:WotR or obviously BG3 but nevertheless I did thoroughly enjoy both the original campaign and the Lost Valley DLC. In particular I thought the Research Complex levels in the DLC were exceptionally good, real meaty dungeon it was with good narrative hooks, and I'd be very pleased to see more of that class of dungeon in Solasta 2. So all in all, if you're listening here Tactical Adventures, this will be case of "take my money" at some point, most probably in the wake of one of Mort's updates on the game. And the very best of luck for the project!
Didn't watch TGA but I was so excited to see this afterwards. The environments look beautiful from what they showed of in-engine footage, not that graphical fidelity was ever what drew me to CotM but it's been really cool to see this studio improve since the original release.
For me this was the most exciting announcement of the awards show. The first game was awesome I just hope this time I get to decide what my party says.
I played the first game, and while the mechanics were great fun, the game itself felt like a dry tech demo for those mechanics. I really, really hope the second game is unlocks the true potential of its great technical foundation.
Really good news. Can't wait for this one. And I totally missed that there was a livestream, so thanks a lot for relaying that information. I am glad that they seem to have learned a bit from BG3 in terms of presentation and that the game also showed them that there's a hunger for this kind of experience that is not really sated by the gaming industry at large. I hope their commitment to this will be rewarded with a big hit. Would be really cool if Solasta turned into another great CRPG franchise as opposed to the relatively niche thing the first game has been. Also, the prominent placement of what seems to be an hourglass in the logo makes me believe there will be something related to time or time-travel in this? The first one had a little bit of that going on with visions from the past, but it would be really cool if we got to experience the elven Manacalon Empire and its society in a more fleshed out way.
Solasta was so slept on. The fact that there's gonna be a sequel is incredible, though it sounds like we might be in for quite a wait before it's ready to ship. The use of 'personalities' rather than traditional companions added to the sense that you were just going from one combat arena to another, with some loosely connected events tying things together in the background. Kinda disappointing that they might be going that route again, but if that means we're getting a Solasta 2 then I'll take it.
I’m glad to see Tactical Adventures is doing well, Solasta was very satisfying for its combat but it was clear they didn’t have the budget to do everything at a high level. With Larian, Owlcat, and now TA - we’re going to have some great games in the future.
I really enjoyed the first one and am excited for this too. Thanks for going over the information that was provided in The Game Awards because I wasn't trying to sift through 5 hours of award show for the stuff I cared about. Great video as usual

The Endless games are known for their nice UIs, and that's how I remembered Solasta 1, too (they share a director). That counts for a lot, so looking forward to seeing the new UI. The rest seems a bit more influenced by BG3's success.
Solasta1 combat was the best D&D interpretation I have played (and i played most of all) If they improve the graphics (especially face and textures) it will be a masterpiece.
I thought the developer wanted to devote himself to other projects and settings. At least that's what he wrote after the last DLC of Solasta. I am very happy with the anouncement of Solasta 2. I liked the implementation of the combat system in Solasta better than in Baldur's Gate 3 because of some comfort functions.
The original Solasta came at the right time, and did a lot of good things. I mean tons of good things. It's good to see the grassroots really supported this enough for it to get a sequel?
This is great news. Loved Solasta. Especially adherence to the SRD, fit right in with my interests. And in a solid indy title. The TA team had good dev updates, if interested in process; more useful than Thor, imo, and on par with Trese bros. And the mod support and community. Some great content/"free-DLC" are available and with ease of installation. TBF, I enjoyed Solasta more than BG3 (also great!) Probably in very small minority there.
Abashed I stood when they came up with the trailer as sudden as a thunderclap on a sunny summer day. Rough may the original Solasta be, yet the charm of it remains intact for full of soul the creation is and man can feel much love creators put into it. 35 developers is hardly a bloated team, therefore little boldness is needed to assume the 2 would stay truthful to the path the 1 has taken. If there is something else to wish for, is receiving the same but more and better, mostly in relation to the story and replayability.
I love Solasta, such a fun 5E based game, and they added so much cool stuff! One of the things i loved about Solasta, was that it was a 5E version of Neverwinter Nights games!
Wow again😅 I'm really happy they announced it. I had a lot of fun with the first one. The changes sounds very nice, so let's wait to get the hands on it 😊
I'm honestly very excited for this game, first one was good but it did felt like studio's first release. Hope second one will be an improvement. Best wishes to the devs.
2025 is gonna be a busy gaming year. Solasta, Outer Worlds, Subnautica, all games my dad I and I really loved playing and all of them are getting a sequel. Even Pillars of Eternity is getting Avowed which, while not directly a sequel, is still in a wolrd we both really liked.
The original did so I presume the sequel will. It sometimes depends on sales of the PC version. If it sells well enough then they have the money to port it.
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy; I have more than 480h on the first one with my wife, can't wait for this one. Hopefully it will have the same level as support from the devs as from the mods as the first one!
I started playing Solasta again two weeks ago for the third time and was so surprised about the trailer, i will buy it in early access and will role dice for char creation for hours again!
I just wanna see good cRPGS franchises do well. I don't have time to play ttrpg with my friends much any more but crpgs have become me running Singleplayer campaigns
Very cool. I played and beat the first game when it came out but never had the free time to go back for all the updates they released. Still looking forward to the sequel.
Bought the first one on Sale but never got around to it because I didn't have the DLC (Druid is my favorite class) and other things just came up. Here's to hoping the DLC goes on sale soon (I mean with second game soon and Christmas, I can't imagine if won't) and I'll pick those up and finally knock this off my backlog.
I have the first one, I never really got into it due to life and a long backlog of unfinished games that I keep putting aside to play some multiplayer games. I loved the Pathfinder and Baldur's Gate games. I'm wondering if it's worth playing it through before this one comes out.
I'm glad to hear they are putting emphasis on the voice acting and graphics. IMO, both of those were poor to terrible in the first game (especially the dialogue cutscenes with their janky animations). And I thought the story was poor as well, but I hope that after growing into their world, and with a little more experience, there is a more compelling story in Solasta 2. Because, in the end I really enjoyed the combat; and found it very challenging in a rewarding way.
Missed out on a few sales for the first one; might still pick it up, as it seems like a fun gameplay-first kinda title. Dunno if its worth it to try it out on console, but I should be able to run it on this potato. I'm interested to see how far Tactical Adventures will go; as with Larian and Owlcat, I am invested in seeing this push for getting more CRPGs into the spotlight. Still need that Pathfinder 2e game though. . .
I really hope they put in an endless dungeon. That's my favorite part of the 2 owlcat games. Although I prefer kingmaker's over wotr's but everything else from wotr.
Solasta 1 has a dungeon maker that should really be called a campaign maker. It basically functions as endless dungeons being created by other people. Hope Solasta 2 has it but not guaranteed.
Super glad they're making a sequel. Hoping its a big step improvement, similar to how DOS 2 was a big step improvement to DOS 1. This will be an instant buy for my MP group
The DnD bones were all there in Solasta 1, it was just rough around the edges. Hopefully if they just improve on what they already had, polish the graphics, fix some of the janky dialogue, cutscenes and movement, this game could be awesome. I was surprised when I noticed the UI in combat seemed to be using the Xbox controller instead of keyboard and mouse so looks like they might be all in on bringing them to consoles at the same time.
This might be a NWN situation for me where I just didn't like the first game and loved the second. Was contemplating getting the first game as a primer for BG 3 but it just looks too rough. Particularly, I don't like having all my party members being complete blank slates with no real personality beyond my MC.I will just wait to see how this sequel shapes up.
I purchased but only played about an hour or two with the first game because I got it shortly after finishing BG3 and kinda just forgot about it. With this coming maybe I should try and finish the first one now? This sounds like it'll be pretty cool.
Solasta 2 is already in my wishlist. I spent a lot of time in the first opus, I just hope it doesn't release toooooo soon, because I have so many runs to finish (for both Pillars of Eternity - some achievements to get and explortion ; for BG3, at least one or two evil runs; for New Arc Line when it comes out). I need more space in that computer 😞
Idk why i couldnt get into solasta, to me the story felt a bit barebones and thats what im mainly lookin for in a crpg, ill probably try it out again next year
Always maintained Solasta was the better game than BG3 when it came to following the 5e rules to a TEE. Actually amazing how it keeps track of all factors
I have the first game in my Steam library, but gave up playing in disgust a while back because of the stupid mechanic it had where the game just ended if any of your 4 party members died in combat without the party having a raise dead spell on hand. Also the iffy character models where most of the human males looked like Jared Leto, but hopefully that will be fixed if they are now using Unreal for the new game. Hopefully they also won't lock additional character classes behind DLC like they did last time as well!
I really hope BG3's success helps the sales of this one without having backlash for not being as good, because the studio is like 1/10th of Larian if not less. This CGI trailer at the Game Awards could give people the wrong idea that it's an AAA title
I tried Solasta at some point but I never hand much patience for playing turn-based games. I prefer real time with pause. But Rogue trader kinda changes my opinions. Might give WOTR a chance in TB mode.
Solasta 1 was a mixed experience - first act was very impressive and polished, but with every following act you could notice unfinished and cut out concepts - it was obvious the company ran out of budget in development and the finale of the game ends with a whimper. Hopefully the sequel maintains quality and integrity from start to finish.
I hope it will do well! 👍On another note. I stumbled over a trailer for Eriksholm, a stealth strategy game. Might be interesting, since Mimimi, unfortunately closed doors.
Good to know they put at least some effort on the presentation, I'm not a graphics first guy but the level of quality was frankly laughable. Also, I hope this time they won't sell classes separately. The whole game ended up costing more than BG3, which is beyond insulting. While it might have been somewhat acceptable for their first game, they need to step up and deliver a complete experience day 1.
I honestly think the combat, travel and traversal were better in a lot of ways than BGIII, BGIII obviously beat it for flexibility because larians engine is amazing, but Solasta had (actual) flight, wall running, planned actions, random encounters etc

I'm interested to see how far Tactical Adventures will go; as with Larian and Owlcat, I am invested in seeing this push for getting more CRPGs into the spotlight. Still need that Pathfinder 2e game though. . .
I just want pet based classes give me the ability to break the party size limit, with hordes of pets. :)
Guess I'll have to finally beat this game soon. I've tinkered with it but I guess now's the time to actually complete.
It's a shame they're ditching user campaigns for S2. They gave S1 legs and kept bringing players back.
@@goldbrickgangboss not quite. I'm taking, you hit start, and progress through random levels until you run out of luck.
Particularly, I don't like having all my party members being complete blank slates with no real personality beyond my MC.I will just wait to see how this sequel shapes up.
now that 5e is cc, i hope they can make their own custom content to implement in a possible gm mode
I purchased but only played about an hour or two with the first game because I got it shortly after finishing BG3 and kinda just forgot about it. With this coming maybe I should try and finish the first one now? This sounds like it'll be pretty cool.
hype it hype it hype it !!!
I enjoyed the first game so I’m intrigued by the sequel
Surely they could just write their own pathfinding algorithm?
Glad this genre is doing so well lately. For a LONG TIME it was slim pickings.
Mapmaker is a must! It won't be half as successful without the mapmaker :)
I the idea of fewer core base classes with more subclass options.
I enjoyed the first one, despite the slightly dodgy graphics and rather wooden voice acting (at least it was voice acted though)
Good to know they put at least some effort on the presentation, I'm not a graphics first guy but the level of quality was frankly laughable. Also, I hope this time they won't sell classes separately. The whole game ended up costing more than BG3, which is beyond insulting.
While it might have been somewhat acceptable for their first game, they need to step up and deliver a complete experience day 1.
any chance server issue will get fixed? coop for this solasta 2?
More dnd 5e in videogames?? I really want them to succeed! This type of development is exactly what the gaming industry needs right now
Thanks
I honestly think the combat, travel and traversal were better in a lot of ways than BGIII, BGIII obviously beat it for flexibility because larians engine is amazing, but Solasta had (actual) flight, wall running, planned actions, random encounters etc
This was the only really shiny spot for the 2024 game awards imo lol
You forgot about Flute Guy?
