Drive # 253 - Testing Pass Wide And Slow Awareness Route - 10.3km
14th of September that is an international Pass Wide and Slow Awareness right. We are trying to get local authorities to accept horses a Vulnerable Users on the road and have been practices in place to keep us safe.
At the same time we are running a petition in New Zealand asking local bodies to include us in future planning, trails, cycleways, etc, they leave horses out and don't allow them access effectively removing all the safe trails for us to travel instead of having to travel dangerous roads.
Today we tested out the route I had planned to measure it's distance, time and potential hazards.
Marie on Mr Sox (her bestest pal) and Janet on Bentley Boo (her Gypsy Cob) joined us for the first time.

Yes, it was arranged to go out with them. He loves company but most are too scared to go out with us because they all think their horses will be scared. The Gypsy is young and inexperienced and in less than 5 mins he went from 'what the heck is that?' to 'ok, I need to play with that, it looks like fun' to 'get out of my way'. It's never the horses who are scared, it's always the people who create the fear.
