I met someone new, got married at age 19, had twin boys (Kyson & Kaden) and another son (Landen). He cheated, we split ways, & he’s not around much. After juggling life as a single mom of 4 for some time, I met Chris, he had 2 sons: Caden and Tommy, who eventually became my step sons. After Chris and I got married, we had our 7th child together, Addelyn. Jess hopefully you will see this. I am the person who suggested you touch base with someone at the Oakland Zoo. Not sure if you did, but I know someone who has a bearded who told me that there is a vet in the Sacramento area that has a bearded and is VERY familiar with them. She does a lot of work with reptiles from what I understand. Her name is Katie Imig and she is at VCA Country Oaks in Sacramento. I hope you are able to get some help from a reptile specialist. You might be able to contact UC Davis Vet School, explain the challenge you are facing finding a vet that knows a lot about bearded dragons. They may be able to give you good referral. Good luck.

Heck NO! 400- and don’t get to talk to vet? How do you know they actually did anything just dropping him off. Our reptile vet is face to face even for emergency. Please request a meeting or phone call with vet for 400-. Get a second opinion if you can find a better exotic vet. Preferred specialized only in exotics. Our poor baby had an abdominal tumor but our vet did everything possible. Unfortunately it was inoperable but he explained every single detail and was very supportive. Much love… surely hope Mango makes a full recovery!

I think you should get a second opinion on mango. I don’t trust any doctor who doesn’t let me be present for my kids or pets exams.

Benadryl can cause sleepiness, but can also have the opposite effect too. Did you use a different laundry soap ? Or body soap ? Also you can develop a reaction over time to soaps as well.
Benadryl makes my kids climb the walls!!
Please get a second opinion!! I saw a vet for my dog when she had a lump on her tail and I wasn't able to go in with her or anything.. they told me it was just a fatty tumor and nothing to worry about but years later it turned out to be something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!! So basically they lied and just took a best guess at it..

I agree, but it's up to Lilia to decide if she wants to be in the videos and Jess is very respectful of their choices. That is why we rarely see Lilia, big Caden and Tommy when the boys visit. I'm not sure if Tommy or Caden are actually still living with them full time and visiting their mother on their breaks from school and holidays.
I think all you can do is make Mango feel comfortable and loved.

Go to a different vet. One that specializes in exotics. As someone in vet med.. there’s lots you can do for a dragon
i read that Abscesses are occasionally seen in bearded dragons and often appear as hard tumor-like swellings anywhere on the body and a bot the eye i read that there can be signs that your beardie is shedding or that he or she is suffering from an overdose of vitamin A, parasites or an eye infection.

Jessica, PLEASE make sure the Veterinarian is actually LICENSED for Exotics. This Vet you been seeing is clearly not. I do wonder maybe a Tumor? Hugs mama. You are truly the best pet owner and we know you love him and all the pets.

Reptile owner here: I also have a vet with an emergency system like that. Its specifically a reptile and bird vet, they dont see dogs or anything. I say as long as the vet you are seeing and specifically exotic i wouldnt worry about the emergecy procedures like that. I do see Mango is super dark, this shows a sign of lack of heat or some kind of sickness.
Now that I'm watching the entire video, that's not even professional. Seek another vet. Have you seen hom poop or pee? He could be impacted

Jess if you see this I really think you should either get a second opinion or really push to get to see the doctor they should not be doing this and the vet should most definetly be talking to you, if you can try and find a different vet that would be the best. I have something called MCAS, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. It basically makes you seem allergic to many things, sometimes at random. I get full body hives all the time, and when I get mosquito bites, they swell up really big, among other symptoms. Mine started when I was nine, but it can develop at any age. If those things persist in Lilia, you may want to look into MCAS.

I used to get terrible hive outbreaks and it always happened when I was exercising, heat etc. My doctor put me on a combo with stuff that helped including stomach meds as it can affect you internally.
New mom here and long time watcher. Pregnant with my second. And i have an almost 13 month old. I strive to be an amazing mom to my kids. You are such a great example.

When I was around Lilia’s age I started getting hives from certain clothes and other things. I got really bad hives from a jazz dance costume to where my dance teacher was considering changing the costume last minute, thankfully Benadryl and Anti-Itch cream did the trick. I don’t suggest putting anti-itch cream on after putting a dance costume on 😂
I had this happen with my last dog who past away back in June of last year so I can totally relate to what your going through with Mango
Check for carpet beetles, I once woke up with hives all over my body and for weeks it would continue happening. Turns out there was a nest of carpet beetles behind my nightstand 🤭

I used to use the liquid benadryl at my gramma house . I have alot of skin allergies.
Did you change laundry detergent ? Shower gel shampoo or lotion?
I was also going to say call the Zoo and see if they have a vet you can see or suggestions for a better vet for him, too.

Regarding using Benedryl to make kids sleepy.. my daughter needed to be hospitalized for mental health reasons and they gave her benedryl at night without my consent or knowledge to “help her sleep”. I was furious, but they said because it’s over the counter they didn’t need my consent. It was a horrible experience. So, to answer your question on if people actually do that, our medical professionals in Southern California actually do that. 😢
Hey Jess you need to get a second opinion for Mango. Maybe find a reptile 😊specialist because that vet you keep going to is not helpful and it’s not fair for him. Best of luck 🤞

I have always had issues with dance costumes - particularly the areas where skin met costume/sequins and cheap metal in jewelry. Cover the offending area with clear nail polish (this will work better on metal or sequins than fabric).
I don't have much knowledge on bearded dragons, but I know that their eyes can swell from just shedding, or from having too much vitamin a. So if they have too much spinach, kale, or other leafy greens. I'm not sure what you feed him though. I hope he gets better and you can find out what the problem is!! I love your videos!

Was Lilia wearing the costume when she started breaking out in hives? Are you able to wash the costume to remove whatever is on the fabric which she could be allergic to. If it is contact dermatitis that is an severe reaction to whatever allergen she is obviously allergic to. Talk to her doctor on how to treat it and get the necessary forms needed to allow her to have the medication, cream and whatever else they recommend she has with her at all times. Each school district has their own protocols and restrictions so check with them. It's not okay like Lilia told you because that was her first reaction and it was a highly significant reaction. When a person who has had a reaction for the first time it is generally a smaller one. If it is turning into a significant/severe allergy the next reaction is typically much larger and can trigger more symptoms like swelling, hives that cover more of the body, cause difficulty breathing, dizziness, vomiting, and even losing consciousness. I have severe allergies to thousands of different things outside, in the house, foods, medications, adhesive, cats,some dog breeds, other animals, fiber used to make cloth that is used to make clothing, makeup, additives, preservatives, GMOS, corn and all corn byproducts. They are in my medications that I have to take in order to remain healthy. Allergic reactions are not to be trivialized because the next one could be more severe and happen much faster than the last time. I was given a prescription for something a few years ago, which my husband picked up. I had made dinner and we had just started to eat when I took the new medication. Within seconds I started noticing hives spreading down my body. I was starting to feel very itching and then I noticed that I was starting to swell in my hands and face and I started having trouble breathing. I used my inhaler and I took Benadryl and started a breathing treatment on my nebulizer. It wasn't getting better and after calling my doctor she said to call 911 as I needed to go to the hospital. Not fun. I spent the next 10hours in the ER. They were just doing the same thing I had been doing at home. I was given a schedule for taking Benadryl and another medication for the infection I had been diagnosed with earlier that day which is what triggered my reaction. It might be time for her to undergo allergy testing and not the bloodwork one because it isn't very accurate as it didn't even show the items that we already knew I was allergic to.

I have a tip for you if mangoes eyes is like so swollen like my bearded dragon had like eyedrops before before before he died, and that was helping his eyes and by the way, make sure your bearded dragon doesn’t eat the bedding if you have like wood chips

My mom used to give me Benadryl on Christmas Eve to make sleep! Not a lot...but enough so I would sleep through the night to a semi-decent hour on Christmas morning. 😂

Do you guys get a different hello fresh? My parents tried it and it always said like 5 minutes prep time and it always took them about 15 or 20 minutes prep time so it was like 45 minutes to an hour after they started by the time we were eating 😞

I am glad that Lilia is not allergic to the Benadryl cream. I found out i was allergic to the Benadryl cream because I put it on a mosquito bite and that bite grew bigger because of the Benadryl cream. I can take the pill just fine

Jeez, lilia got covered. I get that every so often but not that bad, cortisone 10 and lotion usually helps me so it may help Lilia. Poor Mango, if the vet ain't talking to you, I'd be going to a different vet and getting second opinions.

I have very sensitive skin and I alwaysssss break out with hives and a trick that I have that always works is take a warm bath and sprinkle some baking soda in the water and it’ll take the hives out!
Take Lilia to the doctor because I had that too but it was in the afternoon.
I worked a very that had a doctor who specialized in exotics. 1. Please take him soemwhere else and explain to them you want to speak with the doctor. Unfortunately these days it’s common practice that the assistants do everything now. 2. We take blood from the back side of their tail! 3. I hope blood work can give you some answers but sometimes it’s just a wait and see with exotics and that’s the tough part of owning them.
Don't touch mango because he probably has some bacteria in his eye. And that's why it looks so swollen like when people have pink eye. It's kind of like that. So I recommend do not touch mango but don't touch near his eye. You can.
Like touch him around in his body.
But don't touch anywhere near his eye.
My sons pediatrician suggested benadryl at night to help him sleep. Its really not an uncommon thing. But, with Benadryl it can have a reverse effect on small kids. So it might can make them wired. Like crazy lol.

Years ago the same thing happened to me. I picked a peach and it was the Pepto pink. Absolutely horrible. Turned out it needed a base coat. I put it on white and that's why it turned pink. I went and got a different color too.but yeah apparently some colors need certain color base coat to be their true color
Use free and gentle detergent if not already and maybe choose the option to rinse twice. Wash new clothes before wearing. Take shower after trying on clothes if you can, maybe she could try on her next dance costume at home instead of at school?

I would look up reptile vets in your area or exotic vets. I had iguanas growing up and my mom took them to a special vet. My sister is a vet and there are all different kinds of specialists. Your vet sounds terrible. My sister always takes the time to talk to her patients owners and really cares what happens to them. I would get another vet not just for Mango, but for the other animals too. Good luck I hope he gets better soon.
