Great videos. 👍 Ego can also be good, striving to be the best version of yourself is the best thing you can do to better the world, trying to change the world based on one’s understanding is the most egoistic thing one can do.
Ive had my own realization, i was on the wrong path. Im so thankful that i listened and heard the truth from Israel. Its hard to look at yourself and realize you can do better, but when you do the work, life gets better mentally.
@midnightexpress726 I hope you keep watching jewish channels, I hope you listen to the wisdom they give over. HaShem gave good laws to live by, life without them is much harder, more confusing and just plain empty.
What do you think about artistic expression? Or even following one’s passion? Where does ego start and authentic contribution end. As a UA-camr myself I struggle with this point.
Such a great question! In Judaism, ego is considered to be a yetzer hara (evil inclination). _However,_ evil inclinations are what drive society and history forward. The purpose of the evil inclination is to direct it properly, for the good. It's important to be able to control the ego drive, and control includes being able to subdue it. However, if you use that drive as a UA-camr to better the world through your art, then you're using it exactly in the way God created it to be used! Good luck with your channel and much success!
"Shuckling" is a fabulous word! I don't speak Yiddish (aside from a few words), but that's definitely a great term. I don't know if it falls in exactly the same category, but my example would be people that help others, but then post about it on social media. Taking selfies with the homeless or hungry people that you buy lunch for at starbucks, or having a youtube channel that's pretty much all "Look at how great I am for helping these unfortunate homeless folks." Yikes! Helping others is a good thing (of course) but making it all about themselves and their channel? That's just really really cringey, even if they are supposedly doing these things in the name of service to their religion.
I agree. But, what if the gratification they get from posting and all the likes and comments helps them to do it. So that it's not their "main" motivation but rather their "secondary" motivation. I think then it's OK. How would we know that's the case?
I posted this reply on someone else's comment, but thought you might find it interesting as well: Such a great question! In Judaism, ego is considered to be a yetzer hara (evil inclination). @@BigJewishIdeas Thank you! I’ll have to ponder over this. I might even make a video about it 😀👍
