Lynda Henry has given such fantastic service to this program. She is a terrific actress and has created an iconic character in Shirley Carter. I will certainly miss her and I hope she comes back soon.
She’ll be back with Linda in the new years as they’re shooting something for a storyline, Linda is “grieving” with her kids and Shirley is getting her head straight, maybe something long term like a storyline where they think they’ve found sightings of mick and the story will come full circle around autumn/ winter period
I met Shirley once many years ago in the dentist in London, Bermondsey. She was so lovely she really was, she has a lovely natural smile and is so polite and surprisingly human and approachable. Such a gentle soul. This was around 2008-2009. I was with my mum, waiting for my appointment when a lady walked in and sat down opposite. And I had just about recognised that lady to the one and only, Shirley Carter! I remember it so well considering I was only 9-10 years old. I whispered to my mum: "Mum, that's Shirley!". And she looked over, took a second to look at her and then turned and whispered back "Omg that is Shirley what the hell!". My mum then said: "Are you Shirley?" And she responded: "Yes, I am my dear". She looks so different in real life. We commented on it and she said "Yes to be honest not many people recognise me, I'm surprised you did. It's the stage make-up, attire and style you are required to wear when you are performing that sets the look. Outside I'm just Linda, and inside I'm Shirley Carter". It was a PLEASURE meeting this lady!
Linda has always been amazing!.. I absolutely fell in love with her in 'bad girls' and it's been so good to see her continue with that character that she's perfect at playing!.. she's absolutely nailed it as an actress 👏 ❤️❤️❤️

The fact that we didn't see a body tells me that Mick isn't dead. It leaves the huge open door for him to return with a storyline on how he managed to survive and what he was doing during that time. Mick is too big of a character to be given a death like this.
Love Linda Henry as Shirley Carter. Her character says it as it is. She's one of my favourite characters in eastenders the other being Phil Mitchell played brilliantly by Steve Mcfadden

For someone leaving permanently she doesn’t seem to be taking much luggage with her. You might expect at least a small suitcase?! Why do people leave Eastenders and then leave all their clothes and possessions behind?😂

Haven't watched Eastenders in years now, but if Shirley has left for good I do find it fitting her last scene is with Denise based on all the history they have from when Shirley first arrived in the show.
Because she a veteran who wasn't killed off and there's a chance she'll be back. The only veteran character i know who died and received the Julia send off theme, was Peggy Mitchell on the day of her funeral.
Give the man a chance. Stop expecting such a massive effort from someone who is tackling the police force currently and paying his taxes. It has to be considered
I didn't know Linda Henry was leaving. To be honest, her character Shirley lost so much and its understandable she will leave. But she deserves the Peggy leaving theme. But I think we will see her return one day, but it will depend on Danny Dyer if he wants to come back afterall, his body was never found. Poor Linda, she will be alone now but she will have the Vic with everyone gone.
@WSFMarje Karen is permanent. She was axed. She's only making an appearance cause keanu has died obviously. Shirley's exit wasn't supposed to be permanent, she was going to come back after a few months but for some reason it's been extended. Atp it looks like she's not coming back
