As a pilot, I wish I could buy you guys a beer every time we cross paths. Sometimes people forget that we're all a team. Thank you for doing what you do, and spreading the word about the importance of our cherished maintenance staff. You rock 🤙

As someone who has been interested in Aviation and aerospace technology since I was a child, thank you for making these videos! This kind of perspective is rarely seen, and your passion for what you do really shines through in the things you show us and how you explain them. I really appreciate everything you do, taking whatever opportunity you have to show us fascinating parts of your job. PLEASE do a quick section talking about the accessory gearbox and how it operates at different speeds while providing power! I have always wondered how these things work, would love a close-up!
Also the fan gearboxes on the newer engines (seems it'll take decades for them to be available on larger engines) and how small they are for the spectacular amount of power passing through them.
New viewer here! I currently help deliver the Boeing 787s, after 8 years of building the 777. I'm learning a ton from your stuff, having a fun time along the way! Super awesome of your company to allow you to do this, too. The more technical stuff is really fun to follow along with. Good call on the Lexus. It’s definitely an RX model. However it looks like some self driving type model. Like the Waymo cars. It looks like it has some roof mounted sensors/radar that is wrapped up. Probably a tech demo. The Ferrari is probably some rich dude who wanted his car there for the week and just sending it back.
Hiya! Just to add on the air/ground switches, the other names used are WOW (Weight On Wheels) or squat switches which tells the aircraft that it’s on the ground or in the air. The B747 classics also had antennas in the nose gear doors, I also learnt something there. Otherwise, you got a great channel going informing the flying public on what goes on behind the scenes after they go home. A lot of people don’t know that such skilled people exist 😊Thank you ❤ 👍
Your videos are amazing!!! Thank you so much for doing this Chanel! I miss maintaining aircraft, and though I worked on GA aircraft, you speak my language. You are easily my most favorite videos on UA-cam. Cheers! Your knowledge and passion makes me so happy.

I'm an aeronautical engineer and currently getting a master's in space engineering. During the last year of my undergrad I lost the passion I always had for airplanes (I blame the pandemic and the attitude some professors had). I discovered this channel and all that passion came rushing back, so thank you for putting this high quality content out and being a guy that stops to smell the roses, I identify a lot with that "enjoy every moment attitude"
I think your ending comment applies to a lot of jobs, including mine: if we do our jobs right, nobody is going to know we were ever there. But everyone wants us to be there, to make sure everything is safe and taken care of. From an IT guy with a private pilot's license who loves those big airplanes, thank you for showing us your work!
Believe it or not when I worked for Emery worldwide, the mechanics let three of us stay in the belly in the back of the plane while they did a high-power engine, run on the right outboard engine on a DC-8 sadly that same plane crashed two months later here in Sacramento after they lost their COG but the plane was rockin we were in the belly of the plane, cracking up it was crazy.. another wonderful video Stig love it and the c-40’s are 700’s
Came to your channel after hearing you interviewed on an AVL podcast. I simply cant get enough of your content. The way you explain things and engage your audience is in the elite tier of UA-camrs. I'm jealous of your love and passion for the work you do. I have learned more about airplanes in your videos than anywhere else on the web. I am in awe as to the scope of the work that you do on the airplane - there is literally nothing you can't do! Absolutely outstanding work, sir. My deepest appreciation.
Your right about those high-powered runs thank goodness for cell phones and snapshots without them you wouldn't be able to record any information because of how violent the shaking is.😂
The C-40's fly into KGON a lot as well as B757's (AKA C-32). I got a video on my youtube of one landing a few weeks ago. They are modified B737-700's with fuel tank modifications to carry more fuel as well as UARRSI for in-flight refueling. It has a modified communications suite as well as military communication equipment like SATCOM, TACAN's, etc. They also have the short field operations upgrade kit applied. They also are equipped with a RWR and CMS system in case they are engaged in hostile combat and can get out of the area and defend itself.
I never comment on videos however, I must show my appreciation for these videos. I'm awe-struck at every minute. Keep it up! Also, I love how in depth this video was. Love it
While he is correct about the vortex generator, the way it works is by doing just what the name says. A vortex will stick to the top of the wing in a way that turbulent air won’t, and it has a nice side effect of sucking nearby air into it thus eliminating even more turbulence. It’s most useful during higher angles of attack where the engine especially disturbs the air.
The C-32 (B757-200) carries the VP, First Lady, and other individuals at the high cabinet level (Secretary of State, etc). The C-40C (B737-700 BBJ) is a mobile command center. It contains all sorts of classified communications tech and whatnot. I think this is a C-40C, not a C-40B based on the antenna. Either way, someone important is in town. Probably VP, based on the fact that the C-40 was accompanying. The C-32 is only Air Force Two when the VP is onboard. Sometimes, the C-32 will carry POTUS if the VC-25 can't get to the airport POTUS is travelling to.
STIG-you are amazing. Your commitment to safety shows why our aviation system in the US are 2nd to none! Your type of commitment to humankind is important - keep up the incredible work your channel is producing!
What a fantastic insight. As someone doing an aeronautical engineering degree and wanting to become a pilot this is absolutely fascinating. Thank you for doing what you do to keep us safe!

Your wealth of knowledge of all the aircraft you work on is phenomenal! Your videos are just fantastic. I feel better about getting on a plane now. Thanks!

My god she's beautiful. Long live the queen... And your videos are pretty much as far from boring as you can get. Informative, detailed and you somehow make a fascinating subject even more fascinating, I find myself checking daily to see if you have a new vid posted. It's not an exaggeration to honestly say this is now my favourite UA-cam channel.
Crazy.. I'm currently sitting under a C-32 this instant waiting on a fuel truck. I work on the 32s and 40s for a living. Cool to see you posting about them, keep up the good work man.
Thank you for these videos I love them so much. So much information gathered on so many different aviation and even life topics, a true treasure trove.
It’s definitely a fun job, a lot more hands-on. But your job is very important as well. Without your intricate and smart designs things like this would not be possible.

Setting up a hangar/shop for Qantas. He invited us down there when a 747-400 was down for service. Got an super in depth tour of the plane. If only we built cars like airplanes....
This is fantastic. You make even the most technical stuff easier to understand and point out even more things I didn’t realize. Learning something new every day! Keep it up!
I sticked throughout the video, loved the nity-bity things that you taught today. I love knowing about the technological stuff. Please keep making videos ❤

Thank you for sharing your videos. It is valuable information for all of us to learn the many important layers of the aviation community that are essential to keep us safe. Its great to know you’re looking out for us! Keep up the good work.
Great vid as always, Stig! 1. I had no idea that 757s shook themselves that much doing static engine runs. That tail deflection is INSANE. 2. Car IDs. That 1st un-identified car I believe is a Czinger 21C with the V max package. Mostly a body style upgrade if I remember right. A rare spot for sure. The 2nd car is a full self driving company's Lexus NX either coming from or to CES (I'm not sure when you filmed this). Ambarella is the company that fitted the Full self driving equipment on it. 3. The Airforce 2 aircraft you were looking at is technically just a C-32. Only once the vice president steps on board does it carry the label of Airforce 2. You were spot on with the C-40!
Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. One interesting thing about that first car, I just learned this myself, it’s 3-D printed. How amazing is that
Kind of came by coincidence. Stig was the name and it’s my shift. I thought it was silly at first, but it grew on me. And thank you for watching and enjoying
This is incredible! Airliners look so smooth and simple from far away but the closer you move, the more tiny details reveal themselves. Crazy how much you are able to tell us about even the tiniest things that I have never noticed
EDIT: Ladies and gentlemen, my apologies I made a few mistakes at the beginning of the Video. The engine with the temperature probe is a CFM56-7B. NOT a -5B. (-5B is on airbus aircraft) also second correction the Air Force 737 is a -700. NOT a -300. my apologies on this.
No need to apologise Stig it happens, there's still so much to learn from your videos 👍

The C-32 is only Air Force Two when the VP is onboard. Sometimes, the C-32 will carry POTUS if the VC-25 can't get to the airport POTUS is travelling to.
Thank you so much for all this wonderful information, and thank you for correcting me on the 737 model number.
Correct. The C-40C served as the press plane
Great video! Thanks for keeping the flying public safe!
It’s my pleasure, thank you for watching Phil
The car is a Czinger c21. Renown for being partially 3d printed. The SUV is a rebadged Lexus for a rally.
Absolutely amazing.
🎶If being technical is wrong, I don't wanna be right.🎶
Bring it on! Your videos are incredible.
Thank you so much

Thank you so much Frank. I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
Blancolirio here on UA-cam (American Airlines pilot) calls the 757 the "Muscle jet" because it has just so much power for what it is.
It’s just so much power in that aircraft. It’s literally overpowered.
This guy is an absolute legend, love your work my man!! Cant get over the level of knowledge you have for each aircraft.
Thank you so much for the kind words Jack, I’m glad I can show and teach and at the same time Also learn.
STIG-you are amazing. Your commitment to safety shows why our aviation system in the US are 2nd to none! Your type of commitment to humankind is important - keep up the incredible work your channel is producing!

@@StigAviationGhosts of the industry...? I think you meant gods of the industry...
Crazy.. I'm currently sitting under a C-32 this instant waiting on a fuel truck. I work on the 32s and 40s for a living. Cool to see you posting about them, keep up the good work man.

I am a mechanical engineer and I would immediately quit my job to trade places with you. Your job is just so interesting and fascinating.
It’s definitely a fun job, a lot more hands-on. But your job is very important as well. Without your intricate and smart designs things like this would not be possible.
Can't believe someone really deep down into this type of content, realistic aviation knowledge POV video. Such an amazing work! I love it.

30+ year Porsche/BMW/MINI master tech here. Thank you for posting this. Very cool to see your world.
I have family down under. One came out to LAX for a couple months. 747/A380 specialist. Setting up a hangar/shop for Qantas. He invited us down there when a 747-400 was down for service. Got an super in depth tour of the plane.
If only we built cars like airplanes....
Qantas has a very beautiful hangar, I’m glad you got to experience that.
I’ve been waiting for the new video. Thank you so much. Your channel is growing every single day. 🙏👍

Spare seal activating valve!? Another learned tidbit. You are a “fountain of knowledge” sir. 👏🏻
Glad to help. Thank you for watching Mike

Keep up the good work.
My pleasure Mike. And thank you for taking time and watching and enjoying
How amazing is that
"stig shift" is such a catchy name. you did splendid job choosing your brand
And I am just talking about the simple stuff, if I start digging into sub systems, it will blow your mind.
