- Claude Monet (1840-1926) was one of the most innovative painters to stand astride two art movements: Impressionism in the 19th century, and the modern art age of the 20th. Barry Petersen visits the Denver Art Museum, which is currently staging the country's largest Monet exhibit in more than two decades, and talks with curators at the Art Institute of Chicago, about the artist's fascination with light, and how tragedy colored his work.

I flew to chicago 2 weeks ago to attend a family wedding and the Chicago Art Institute where Monet's haystacks live and breathe..AWESOME!!!..They were my initiation into the world of art way back in 1970...his haystacks inspired me to be a landscape painter!! New year's Eve the museum was overwhelmed with patrons..soo wonderful to see..When I lived there it was a very quiet place but now..OMG!!!!!
Some of the Haystacks series are included in this mammoth exhibit in Denver as well.
Mr. Claude Monet, I love you! My soul is so happy when I'm looking of your paintings. Most water lilies. You gave to whole the world so many wonderful mastetpieces
I hope you are happy in your world.! 💜
Good morning.I also love the art of this great artist and I really like his painting "Women in the garden". Absolutely art genius 🖼️.
So lucky to see it in Denver! Gorgeous art pieces!
I was privileged to fly to Denver to see this full exhibit. It is breathtaking and Denver is the only place in the US where this is being shown. It is the largest collection of Monet's work to be displayed in 20+ years.
Deb LeClercq it’s a moving exhibit, I saw it in Fort Worth 2 months ago
Where will it go to next?
@@josepheleshuk2197 from here it goes to Potsdam Germany. Denver is the ONLY US stop for this particular exhibit. It is also the largest collection of his work put together in 20+ years. In spite of what some people have posted below, this particular huge exhibit has never been put together before.
@@debleclercq1844 it is all sold out. Wish I could have seen this. I like his paintings.
Amazing exhibit. And the audio commentary that the museum offers adds to the experience and well worth the extra time spent in the exhibit
Have loved his works all my life! Was fortunate to see his home in Giverny!
I feel SO fortunate I was able to see this exhibit at the Denver Art Museum a few weeks ago!
🌟🌟I wish I could have! Gorgeous!
🌟Monet
(Thank you for Educating others on Monet!)
We took our children to the Denver Art Museum last night. I made darn sure they're aware of their privilege.
I’m privileged to witness Christoph revere Monet as a Denver Art Museum employee. The passion, care and respect that was put into the exhibit is so clear.
It’s sold out though, so don’t think about flying across the country for this.
I just saw this exhibit. I was amazing!
The greatest painter of the 20th century, no doubt.
I wish we were just shown the art. I don't like when an art "professional" tells me what I'm supposed to be seeing. I saw these paintings at the Philadelphia Art Museum in the late 1990's, they are breathtaking.
This particular exhibit has never been brought together before so perhaps there are some in Denver you haven't had a chance to see. it includes over 120 of his works. Not sure if tickets are still available as it is in Denver only until 2/2/2020, then it goes back to Europe - to Germany.
I remember the Monet exhibitions
Impressionism
Кто знает мадам Терри, родственницу Monet?
May I ask, what is the classical music at the beginning of the piece? Does anyone know?
🎉
Some of these paintings are treated more as investments than light . . . the frames are too much. Way too much.
Denver??
Nope.
