Automakers cannot make you perform regular maintenance at a dealership for a new car warranty to remain valid. If an error is made with maintenance procedures, this could void a warranty. I have found more error with dealer oil changes than my own. Also, living hours away from a Kia dealer requires additional time, travel expense and miles, for a simple oil change

That is illegal. If they say that. they need to do the oil changes for free. Keep your records. Look up Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
Yep my kia dealership did the same to me they did change my oil after the service. So I got home and changed it was so dirty.
