- The GT 1030 is a small, low power consumption card with no fan, so silent. Great for quiet and/or small PCs. But can it game?
Yes it can.
Thanks to Ghost Sixtyseven for the OBS set-up advice:
/ channel
Where is Ghost Sixtyseven nowadays? I can't find his channel anywhere on UA-cam.
Im planning on buying this will it work on Linux mint for light proton gaming? I play games like csgo, cod mw2, rocket league etc
What about driver installation under Linux? What Linux distribution did you use?
Are you using Nouveau or did you manage to get the proprietary drivers installed?
What's your obs settings for the gt 1030? I have the same card and want to know the right settings for Linux.
Hi, I used 'Window Capture (xcomposite)' constant bitrate, x264 encoding @ 1080p, 60fps
@@redrobbosworkshop Hey, thanks for the info. I was also wondering how you installed your nvidia drivers (396 for proton) without ubuntu not loading up again after reboot. I have installed the drivers successfully but when I reboot I get a black screen with readings, this doesn't allow me to go into ubuntu again. This prompts me to reinstall Linux all over again. What's your solution?
@@CJBrown3000 Unfortunately I don't run the 396 and stick to the 390 with Debian - I think that blocks Proton but I've not used it.
Hello ! what are the components of your pc.
Hey man, did you maybe try running it at 4K? I don't need it for gaming, just wondering if the desktop apps and browsing seems fluid, like it's 60hz@4k?
Hi, I didn't run the card at 4k but its specified for 4k at 60Hz so I'm sure desktop use and video would be perfect. In fact a friend now owns this card and does CAD on his 4k monitor without issue
@@redrobbosworkshop awesome thanks
The drivers available in Ubuntu Linux have horizontal tearing issues playing video, that is the Nouveau and the two proprietary drivers supplied. (can't speak for other distro's) The latest from Nvidia site fixed the issue for me. but boy they're a pain to install when remnants of other drivers are still in use, a real catch 22 situation.
@@erroneouscode Idk, i actually got this card since i posted that comment, works great for me for everyday 4K use (non-gaming)
