Yes I also was and am in Natalie shoes, watching UA-cam farmers, although finally we have our little 3 acre farm since April this year, we still need the farm community and more experience, nice vlog indeed!
I slow down by spending a few minutes sitting with my chickens or goats. Some of the chickens will come sit in my lap for pets, and the goats LOVE attention. I love to walk in the greenhouse and just observe what's grown and if anything is fruiting or needs to be harvested. ❤
Got my book today and was so stoked to see that it was signed by Justin! I pictured Justin being handed the book by one of the kids, signed it and handed it off to Becky who stamped it with our sticker and Lilly stuck the Abundance+sticker. I’m already half way through first chapter.. so good. Edit: Halfway through and Justin E-mailed the wife back to congratulate us. Man… this community is awesome.
So many of your guests talk about the meaning and satisfaction they get from homesteading. You (Justin and friends) are all doing this for and with your family, and that just seems so central to the lifestyle and the reward. That brings out the poetry of homesteading.
So glad you’re back to good health Justin. You preserved through the pain. You were in pretty rough shape but you didn’t give up. You’re an inspiration. Thanks for sharing your life and knowledge with us.
Yes, the GRIND of doing the same stuff everyday to prepare the animals for the day is something you have to enjoy somehow or it just gets too much. Tonight I put the animals back into the barn after dark. It was great because it was calm, clear, and the stars were out so bright. That made it special. The chickens always go in on their own but I have to put the dog and the two goats in because we chain them to the areas they will be all day. I have a brooder, a meat chicken tracto,r and a duck tractor going now as well as layer hens. I spend a long time on my birds everyday. I will harvest the meat birds soon. One less chore. Yay! Aao harvest at the garden. Content come to you. I believe it! Thanks for this Justin.
Natalie understands the importance of permaculture. I liked listening to her explain her family's desire in "slowing down", enjoying the entire process........
Great video! We were once in those shoes and made the move almost 4 years ago. Looking back from where we were to the present day, we have come a long way as a family and running a farm with multiple enterprises. Love it! We teach our kids everything from canning to animal husbandry.
@@heyitsagoodlife hello! I love your channel! I saw some videos that I need to watch and learn from. We didn’t move far. We moved from Fredericksburg,VA to the Southwestern tip of the County. I've definitely had a few times where I've cried watching farming/homesteading videos. It's gotten better now that we have our land, but I still cry sometimes because we have to still build on the land before we can really get started, and it all still seems so far away.
I know it's it's longshot how busy you guys are to see this comment 😆 Im from just below sandpoint Idaho where some of your friends are from I've seen in videos and now I'm visiting my mom in Hendersonville NC for my 26th birthday I just had. I lived with her for a few years in school years but personally felt more at home in ID so I've been there. We drove through the national forest in Brevard today and saw Sliding rock and all the waterfalls, driving through all the woods made me think of your family I've been watching over a year now it feels like longer! If you took the cow stantion and moved it over to center you could build two seats one on each side of the cow and that would make milking easier for you.
