  • Polish Messianism is the belief that Poland has a special mission in the world, to suffer for and redeem other nations. It is rooted in Polish Catholicism and Poland's long history of occupation and oppression.
One of the most famous examples of Polish Messianism is the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. During this uprising, Polish resistance fighters fought against the Nazi occupation of Warsaw. The uprising was eventually crushed by the Nazis, but it became a symbol of Polish courage and resistance. Many Poles saw the Warsaw Uprising as a messianic sacrifice, necessary for the liberation of Poland and other nations.
Polish Messianism is indoctrinated in Polish schools and reinforced by the Catholic Church. The Polish education system is highly centralized, with the central government deciding what children should learn and under what perspective. Under the current nationalistic party rule, the Polish education program is highly focused on Poland. From Geography, history, and Literature, Polish schools tell students from a young age that Poland was always the victim and never did anything wrong. This reinforces the Polish Messianic mindset, without necessarily mentioning it directly.
Many Poles believe that Poland's messianic mission is rooted in its Catholic faith. They believe that Poland is a "chosen nation," and that it has a special responsibility to spread the Catholic faith to the world. This is evident in the widespread faith of Catholicism in Poland.
Polish Messianism has also had a significant impact on Polish politics. It has been used by Polish politicians to justify both interventionist and isolationist foreign policies. For example, Polish Messianism was used to justify Poland's participation in the Iraq War in 2003.
Polish Messianism can be seen as a response to Poland's long history of suffering. Poles have often seen themselves as victims of injustice and oppression. Messianism provides a way for Poles to make sense of their suffering and to find hope for the future.
Polish Messianism focuses on the comparison between Poland and Jesus Christ. The idea of Poland as the "Christ of Europe" is based on the belief that Poland has a special mission to spread the Catholic faith and to defend Europe from its enemies. This idea has been used to justify Poland's hard stance against non-Christian migrants.
Poland's support for the independence of Ukraine in the early 1990s was inspired by Polish Messianism. Poland saw itself as having a special responsibility to help Ukraine achieve independence, and it provided Ukraine with financial and military assistance. Poland's support for Ukraine was seen by many Poles as a way to fulfill Poland's messianic mission to spread freedom and democracy to the world.
Polish Messianism is a complex and important part of Polish history and culture. It has had a significant impact on the way that Polish people see themselves and their place in the world. It is important to understand Polish Messianism in order to understand Poland and its role in the world today.

As long I do agree that Polish messianism is deeply rooted in Polish mentality which was a result of rather tragic and heroic history, I can't accept superficiality, sometimes incompetence of this material. To provide credible material on such topic it's needed to fully understand characteristics of Christianity, which isn't aspect of suffering only but also mercy and compassion for others. This is greatly manifested by Polish sacrifice in rescuing Jews in the risk of highest death penalty that was specifically implemented by Germans in Poland during their occupation of Polish land. Also the recent act of Poles' help to Ukrainians was dictated by compassion inspired by Christianity. Just these are only two examples there're much more of them in Polish rich history

Great video, inspired me to look more closely at my homeland. Hope you like my conclusions.
(Apologies for the poor English, not my native tongue)
Punjab is the Christ of the Indian subcontinent.
Being the frontier province meant easy access to trade routes hence it became a node of the silk road.
But it also meant constant invasions by the Iranians and Central Asians but also inland Indians.
It finally culminated in militant Punjabi Hindus founding Sikhism and 'liberating' Punjab from foreigners but it did not last as we became the armed men ('martial race') for the British as they appropriated the military apparatus of the Sikh Empire.
The division between Muslims and Sikhs/Hindus deepened and ended with us being partitioned between 2 countries
That's why Pakistan today is a military dictatorship, it inherited the military apparatus of the Sikh Empire and nothing else.

    Off topic.
Here is one thing the Polish people should be very proud about.
    Their bread baking.
Polish bakers are some of the best in Europe and have been for many centuries.
It was a glut of Polish bakers that led to a diaspora moving to Vienna where they founded the Viennese cake baking we know today.
When there were too many Polish bakers in Vienna quite a few moved to Paris where they founded the baking practices which we now know as French bread and Patisserie.
Were armies all bakers and all bakers were Polish the world would be a better place.

Tbh, all groups of people in dark times invent stories to make them feel better (arguably that's even how Christianity started in the Roman occupied Judea). So the time when Poland was partitioned and disappeared from the maps for 123 years was a prime time for these kinds of stories for Poles. Still, you have to admit that the Christ parallel has some accuracy - Poland was betrayed, it was killed and then it got resurrected.
