    Why put black and white in the mix together? Just use less black. I must be missing something here.

      Silicone at the begining was colourless/opaque

      I think the white bits give a sheen to it, it looks like silver at the end, not grey.

      If you look in the early stages, the silicone is too translucent. I think the white pigments help achieve the right level of opacity given the desired luminosity, when mixed with the black pigments.

      It is a gray, this being a large batch factory setting, they have their proportions for color set. I mix small batch silicone off of clear, and the initial white resembles a milky clear stage of pigment load that I go for when mixing powder pigments.
