my favorite mel brooks movie, dark helmet's entrance is hilarious. colonel sandurz gets me every time, george wyner could play anything but was brilliant in this movie.
My favorite was the combination to the air shield. "That's what some idiot would use on his luggage." Then later "and change the combination on my luggage.
It was a stylistic/psychological choice in-universe on Kylo Ren's part, and the movies even referenced that. So this is not the clever gotcha criticism you think it is.
@@PeGeProd That is rarely used a stylistic refrence (that heavily borrows from Revan's design might I add, why even can the EU at all at that point) that is rarely used and shown on screen. My message to Lucasfilm for that is, pick a lane grampa and stick to it. Either it's an important detail or it's pointless, stop flip-floping between the two.
My favorite line "I bet she gives great helmet..." (after Dark Helmet sees the blonde nurse leave the room after they force the father to give up the access code.)
the greatest subtext joke throughout this scene is when colonel sanders tells lord helmet “we don’t have visual contact” but 30 seconds later after the Mr Coffee bit they switch to tele-view 😂 It’s literally a visual of the planet
I watched the original Star Wars one time when it was in the theaters. I've watched Spaceballs at least 10 times and own it on Blu-ray. It's getting past due for another viewing!
at 2:02 - Is it my imagination or are the guards wearing slippery boots when they came to take away Sgt Rico. They seem to have difficulty keeping stable while walking / bending down.
Apparently they couldnt use the force choke on the guys balls and had to have a "laser" instead because even grabbing someones balls using the force gets you an R rating.
This will always be the one time it's okay to have a major character constantly keep removing their helmet (or visor rather), because it simply plays into the comedy instead of insisting you can't make a meaningful character with a helmet on.
This movie was ahead of its time but probably wouldn't have been able to be made had they waited... Far too many offended critics would have gotten in the way...
At least one movie preserved Star Wars lore and spirit ;)
my favorite mel brooks movie, dark helmet's entrance is hilarious. colonel sandurz gets me every time, george wyner could play anything but was brilliant in this movie.
Maybe Mel Brooks could release a "Special Edition" version, with additional scenes and pointless CGI additions.
I always laugh every time with rick moranis playing Dark Helmet. He was the funniest in this old movie.
Lol
He was hillarious
Perfect casting
My favorite was the combination to the air shield. "That's what some idiot would use on his luggage." Then later "and change the combination on my luggage.
My favorite is the one with dolls since he adlibbed all that.
The greatest Star Wars movie of all time. I will yield no ground.
*Parody
@@InklingFan77Mettaton1936 Nope, movie. No Star Wars movie is as enjoyable as Spaceballs.
You, sir, have the high ground and the upside of the Schwartz.
@@johntracy72 Are You Giving Me The Schwartz? Or.
The jokes are lazy and the movie isn’t funny. Overall it is a chore to watch
In 1987 having the villain wear a pointless helmet that serves no purpose was a joke. 29 years later the sequel trilogy did it unironically.
☝️
Bite of 87 reference!1🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🥶🥶
Yeah, Adam Driver really didn't need it.
@Torie owens
A rebreather would have done fine if they wanted a darth look, still keeps the face on show as well.

I've always liked how Dark Helmet sounded through his dark helmet saying "Hot!! Too hot!!"
Lost my shit 😂
My favorite line "I bet she gives great helmet..." (after Dark Helmet sees the blonde nurse leave the room after they force the father to give up the access code.)
2:40 You can see the guy on the left briefly move his hands to guard his junk lol
Better to be safe than sorry
"Everybody got that?" 🤣 Mel Brooks goofing on blatant exposition dialogue
Reminded me of Army of Darkness: ' Yoo Got That!!?'
Now that's some clever humor right there. Didn't really catch on to it until very recently. 😂
This movie is the equivalent of Airplane. Almost every scene is memorable and hilarious
80's was a good era for movies and rock bands.
This was just the best movie, it poked fun at movies in so many ways.
"I always have coffee when i watch radar y.ou know that!"
"Yes sir"
"Everybody knows that!"
"OF COURSE WE DO SIR"

Now that I've had my coffee I'm ready to watch radar. Where is it?
@@theunknowncommenter725right here sir
A million times better than Disney Star Wars
1:31 "What! You went over my helmet?"
The way the guy says Ahhh Shit just cracks me up for some odd reason.
Not exactly over sir well more to the side!
This movie is better than the entire sequel Star Wars trilogy.
And it's also waaaaay better than the entire Star Wars Prequel Trilogy.
And the original trilogy too!
I have got to see this movie AGAIN!
Same!
this movie is a masterpiece.
the greatest subtext joke throughout this scene is when colonel sanders tells lord helmet “we don’t

Eagle five coming in. Reminds me of the attack scene in Independence Day. It references it.
But this is 9 years before Independence Day, so the final battle scene made a reference to that vs. the other way around
Bill Pullman was in Independence Day so it makes sense.
@@zanemarte9877 That is what I meant. ID4 references that scene. I should have been more specific.
I can’t breathe in this thing. 😂
It makes me wonder why he's wearing it. Maybe just to look scary (after all he didn't have any trouble breathing in it for the rest of the movie).
This is literally the best "evile mick ronaise" one gets. 80's lost, 90''s won.
Did you notice the tie and attachments of Dark Helmet....
It's a penis

You guys just now noticed?!

Love Mel Brooks
Rick Moranis was such a great actor and he was so good in movies.
You had to live in the 80's to truly appreciate the 80's.
Well, a lot of people who had STDs didn't...... Anyway, take your fauxstslgia somewhere else.
Uhh no.
Never underestimate the power of the Schwartz
Classic Mel Brooks! 👍🏻🍺😎
It's really funny how Dark Helmet looks at the camera @ 1:28
1:56
What’s the matter colonel Sanders? Chicken?
The look of pure pride on Sgt. Rico's face after he is assured of his Spaceballsiness always kills me.
I know that the helmet is the main focal point of his outfit but I’ve always felt that absurd tie was comedic brilliance.
3:32 Dark Helmet:Hot! too hot!🥵
I lost the bleeps, i lost the sweeps, and i lost the creeps
The what? The what? And The what?
I still refer to this as the real Star Wars
0:13 - 0:21..he's all proud and honored to be called a spaceball like it's the best compliment you can recieve or something. LMAO ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Rick Moranis is a great actor. He is really funny.
The TIE kills me.
Imagine if Anikan never got wounded on Mustifar
Hot!! Too Hot!!
The "Gatekeeper" in action! Priceless.
Dark Helmet: “Sanders?!!”
Sanders: “Sir!” (and grabs his balls) 😂😂😂
1:25 Always liked how he put the phone on the outside of his helmet 😆
The force nut punch always cracked me up 😂

Hilarious that Dark Helmet wears a tie. Makes no sense, but that's Mel Brooks for ya!
Spaceballs The Video Clip.
I'm a fan of Spaceballs. I watched that movie two years ago.
3:15 when I watch this as a kid I don't know what he was talking about right there.
Man I freaking love this parody
My old manager and the company owner were doing that "Give me paw" bit for 6 months after that movie came out. Yes, it got to be a little annoying.
The only Star wars parody thats actually funny af😅😂🤣
Yawhol, a major....the trooper addressing Lord Helmet...lmao.
Absolutely genius comedy,brillant!❤❤❤my hair!she shot my hair!😂

Better than the sequel trilogy.
I cant breath in this thing, is a direct reference to David Prowse as Vader in the making of star wars 1
It might also be preprogramming to George Floyd incident.
I laughed out loud at 3:14 hahaha
My favorite comedy villain, next to Dr. Evil.

1:55 NUTSHOT!
I want to know how many times the mask drop coffee spit took to get or was it a happy accident, it looks too perfectly timed to be scripted 😂
Is it just me or does it sound like something sexual is happening when Dark Helmet uses the ring ray on Sergeant Rico?
I think it's Dark Helmet's Schwartz "kicking" poor Rico in the nuts...
I watched this with my kids and they laughed al the way through it
I want Spaceballs action figures + playsets.
As of 2024, this is the 6th best Star Wars movie.
- After the originals, Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One

I want spoof movies to come back. But people are too whiny to take a joke nowadays for them to exist.
Yup. So we just ignore the wokery and do it anyway.
You will never, ever get a joke as good as "Where da white women at?" ever again. Let that sink in.
It could be a matter of ability too. Internet is open for anyone to do whatever, there´s only so many Mel Brooks´ around.
I just noticed the guy on the left at 2:35 jumped the gun a little lol.
What’s all that churning and bubbling?
2:00 We see Col. Sanders motivation for being second in command.
You went over my helmet????
We need to trilogy, but not going to happen :(
Seargant Rico like racketeering lol..I get all the cool characters for being the most relatively innocent in that regard
I see you trying to weasel your way out.
I’ve still not seen this film. I’m starting to think there’s something wrong with me, I’ve seen pretty much every other Mel Brooks film
"Oooooh. Bet she gives great helmet!"
Now I think dark Vader's helmet looks too small, that's how you know I've watched this movie too many times.
Ironic that a 30+ year old parody is a better storyline and more believable script than modern Disney SW.
“What idiot designed this thing?”
“…….You did, sir”
..why does the movie trailer play after the clip? To make the movie clip look longer?
Comb the dessert :D
2:01 Am I imagining it, or does Colonel Sanders look like he’s getting aroused by the sound of this poor guy getting his nads vaporized.
One day I'll get remarried
There's also Hardware Wars.

Imagine dark Vader using the force to crush that captain balls who failed him
Poor Sergeant Rico got his balls fried
Spaceballs was good, but Blazing Saddles is Mel Brooks at his finest!
