From a friend you haven't met yet, it is pronounced "two wall a me". Any other attempts will immediately designate you as an out of stater. I spent many wonderful summers in Yosemite valley in the 40's, 50's, and 60's when we simply drove in, set up a tent and camped. We watched the "Fire Falls" from Glacier Point, swam with the bears in the river and so many other wonderful things that are now lost to time. Our last trip was in 2006 and it was crowded as usual. God bless and have a great summer.
Thank you, Ray! As a native-born CA (although I was smart and moved away in the 80s😉), and a regular summer visitor to Yosemite; the butchering of the name Tuolumne was starting to make me twitch! 😂 It seriously isn’t that far off even phonetically. I’m almost glad I haven’t been back in the past 15 years … the crowds and massive changes would’ve made me cry.
Boy closing those campgrounds is really going to make things crowded. When we went two years ago there were a lot of campgrounds but mostly all were full plus those campgrounds aren't really set up for RV's over 25'. We stayed at a Passport America RV Park on the west side outside of the Park. But if anyone was going this year, I would definitely suggest taking a YART. The roads are narrow and crowded - leave the driving to them and take lots of pictures!
Solutions... You can't drive to Glacier Point but you can hike 4 mile trail from the valley to get there. Awesome Trail. Regarding the $2 tickets, plenty tickets are available even as of today (May 11). On to Bridavail falls... who cares since you can still see it just can't walk up to it. So worth going in 2022! Do it! or avoid it so more room for me to be more alone.
We were very lucky to visit Yosemite a couple of times when a family member served as a ranger there . Yosemite Falls overlooked their house , awesome view.
at timestamp 15:14 there is a shot of a "random waterfall" that is nevada falls the second larger falls above vernal falls on the mist trail. also the glacier point road is closed but it is still accessible via several hiking trails. 4 mile trail, panorama trail etc.
I used to go with my parents in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Swimming pool at Camp Curry, Mini Golf, Firefall with nifty Ranger-led campfire also at Camp Curry, swimming in the icy Merced River and sleeping in a cold tent in Camp 7 along the river. Was really really fun for kids and seemed care-free then.
1. You need to reserve tickets in advance to enter the park with a vehicle during most hours (with exceptions depending on other permits or reservations within the park) 2. A lot of campgrounds are closed for renovations. 3. Showers are only available in a couple of areas, public laundry facilities are closed. 4. Modified shuttle schedules / availability 5. Lots of stuff requiring advanced planning, no “first come first serve” campgrounds. 6. Glacier Point Road closed for renovations (important) - only way to get to Half Dome overlook unless you can hike the whole way up (hiking trails still open), no bus open on that road either 7. Bridal veil fall and parking closed
@@Travelingwithme7788 Glacier Point Road isn't opened at all this year as it is closed for repavement. So the only way to get to Taft Point is from the valley floor by taking Four Mile Trail to Glacier Point and then by heading west on the Pohono Trail.
I used to work in Yosemite back in the 1990s. Worked mostly in Tuolumne Meadows. It was a great experience. Sean and Kristy if you ever stay in Tuolumne Meadows, do the Glen Aulin hike. The trail runs along the Tuolumne River. And you end up at the White Cascade waterfall. The scenery is breathtaking.
If your into backpacking stay two nights at glen Aulin, and day hike down canyon to see 4 more of the best waterfalls in the world. LeConte falls is my favorite of any waterfall.
You can still hike up to the Glacier Point overlook from the Four Mile Trailhead. It’s a 5mi hike up 3300 in elevation. Because Glacier Point Road is closed, there is hardly anyone there. Another 1.6mi from Glacier Point to Sentinel Dome for the full 360 view. Got the Dome all to myself. If you can do both, do both. It took me 8hrs round trip with numerous water and breath breaks, a lunch break at Glacier Point and another chill out break at the top of Sentinel Dome.
Too bad. I was there this winter, and the falls were flowing. The bus system was totally shut down. For another overlook on Half Dome, you could drive up Tioga Rd. There is a great view of the valley and the granite peaks above it.
Great overview! I worked there for 13 years in the '80s and early '90s, and my husband worked there for 48 years, retiring seven years ago. The way to pronounce Tuolumne is to pronounce every letter, so you DO get the "n" in there. I think when Sean said it for real he got it perfect!
Thanks for the information! I think I'll stay east of the Rockies for my travels. I have found numerous sites to visit with my family that are less crowded and just as beautiful. I go camping for the quiet.
What a drag! Thank you for throwing up some cautionary info. That sounds like a total nightmare. Avoiding it entirely this year sounds like the best option.
Kristy is correct... Two All Uh Me. Nice try though Sean. Being a California native, and once having a second home just outside of Yosemite, I'm so over the park. I believe the Ahwanee went private, which increased prices and didn't do much for quality upgrades. I appreciate the information you share, and the way you share it. Thanks.
My grandparents met at Yosemite in the 1920s. My granny was engaged to be married to another guy and met my granddad there. She was a Modern girl back then that knew her mind!
When I was a kid my Mom kept getting my Dad to take us to Yosemite, so I could remember the FIRE FALLs when I got older. I also lived and worked in Monterey for years, years later, so I visited Yosemite a lot then. I learned a trick on how to get the Thanksgiving Dinner without having to get the very expensive and difficult to get Thanksgiving Dinner reservation to the Inn at the Ahwahnee. Go to the bar on the bottom floor near the front entrance of the Ahwahnee and when they are open and serving dinner, smorgasbord during Thanksgiving or perhaps only at the very end of the dates when the Inn offers, Thanksgiving dinners, then they serve the leftover Thanksgiving dinner food from the main dinning room, so the smorgasbord will be turkey, ham, and prime rib that they served in the dinning room and it cost $15 for all you can eat, when I went around 20 years ago. If you go to the bar at 5:30pm just when they are opening for dinner, then you get served slices from the outside of the meats they are serving which has all the flavors of the marinades they are using on the meat, so it is the BEST dinners they ever serve. I am pretty sure they use saffron in their marinades. Thanksgiving is also the BEST time of the year to visit Yosemite because it is low season for them, and it is often starting to snow just a little bit at night then, so it gets you into to the mood for the Christmas season right away. If you HATE cold weather it is the wrong time of year for you.
My husband and I have been to Yosemite many times over the years. When we were younger, we camped. More recently, we stayed at the Yosemite Lodge in the fall (November 2021). Then a few weeks ago, we splurged and stayed at the beautiful Ahwahnee Hotel in the winter (February 2022). A big word of advice here: if you can avoid it, never go in the summer! It's hot and crowded. A fall visit is incredible, with the leaves changing colors. A winter visit with snow on the valley floor is equally beautiful. And, no worries about reservations to get into the park during fall or winter. The falls were well worth seeing for us during both these seasons, even if they weren't at full tilt. I understand the spring brings more robust falls, but also more robust crowds. In spite of some closures, we found plenty to do, with many hiking trails accessible. So, based on our experience, in spite of the pandemic and closures, Yosemite is well worth visiting...off season.
Sean and Kristy, thank you for these insightful and humorous videos. It’s such a wonderful surprise when I see new content from LOLOHO. Keep traveling and inspiring others to enjoy the RV lifestyle.
Go to Yosemite this year. Took me one evening to figure out the reservations and book my stay. If you really want to see the view from glacier point you can hike to the top.
Another great viewpoint on Glacier Point Road is just before Glacier Point is Washburn Point, from this viewpoint you can directly look over Nevada Falls, Vernal Falls, Liberty Cap, a portion of Little Yosemite Valley, Mount Starr King, The Clark Range, and the profile of Half Dome. It’s truly a fantastic viewpoint. There’s a two and a half mile round trip hike on Glacier Point Road and it takes you to the summit of Sentinel Dome and the view up there is breathtaking, you’re looking down over 4,000 feet to the valley floor in some spots, and East to West, the entire span of Yosemite Valley is in full view from Half Dome to El Capitan. There’s just so much beauty and not a lot of time to just simply drink it all in and explore.
I was skeptical at first but you have me convinced. Was just there in November and some of these changes were already in place. Hadn’t been to Glacier Point in years, but the road was closed by snow? But heard a couple weeks later that it briefly re-opened. Did feel Griswold-denied. Snapped up a campsite in Upper Pines only a couple days in advance. But not much solar deep in the Valley that time of year. Thanks for all of the year-specific info
Wow, thanks for all the research for this. Fortunately i've been there several times and will wait until the park returns to normal to visit again, This is one of my most favorite places in the U.S.
We are popular with our kids and grandkids largely because have a home near the park. Our summers are busy, and we love touring with the family all summer. The restrictions are a mixed blessing but make it much easier to get around in the park. I think many of these restrictions will be permanent. Pre-covid it was almost impossible to get around the park or find parking due to traffic. I am going to share this video with our future campers and hikers rather than trying to explain to each one individually. Thanks, you did a great job of explaining this and I am going to take advantage of your research. The Bridal Vail and Glacier Point closures this year really suck though.
We just came back from Yosemite. Yes, glacier point was closed, but we still managed to get in a few popular hikes. We had snow one night and day, but that weeded out a lot of people! Yosemite falls at 9am had maybe a dozen people? The most trails wasn’t crazy as usual. Traffic wasn’t bad. Now is the time! Yes, we made reservations 6mo in advance at Upper Lines Campground, and it was difficult to reserve, but totally worth it. Our travel trailer keep us warm n the freezing temps and we woke up to a picturesque snow covered camp. We had coffee outside by the fire! (It was actually warming up quickly)
In the 50s and 60s my dad ONLY took us to Bridalveil Campground, so I only saw the valley from above. When I took my family in 1990 and stayed in Curry park the valley was busy, now it's out of control it's like LA traffic during rush hour, so I understand the drastic control measures the Park Service is putting in place.
Christy your pronunciation of Tuolumne is correct! They say "your first NP is your favorite". I love Yosemite, my favorite NP. Thanks for such detailed information. Your site has been so incredibly helpful to me. I just got my first rig January 19, 2022! YoLoHo🤟
Thank you so much I haven’t been out west in two years I’m a 70 year old solo female traveler and the three glorious years I traveled summers before the pandemic were phenomenal. Both of you were my guide thru Yellowstone, glacier, badlands, crater, Olympic, cascades and redwoods. I am so discouraged about rv travel. Camping in Maine the past two summers where I have camped for decades was beyond crowded. It’s my dream to go back and pick up where I left off with Yosemite but I think I’ll wait.
"Too-All-'O-ME'. I grew up in Mariposa and spent a lot of time in Yosemite growing up. Took my wife for her first visit this last year. She loved it. Will definitely go back, though the trip is much farther and we plan to camp in the park next time.
Great job on summing up the limitations at the Park this year. 100% agree that first timer's should wait for a better time. Even as someone who tries to go yearly, I'm skipping it in 2022.
Have to agree, too many changes on how it all works. It is a jaw dropping park for sure. I was there 5 years back and it was a bit busy even in November. I cannot imagine how it is now. Maybe in 2023? We will see. It is amazing so put it on your list... Again, great info and wonderful presentation. Take care and safe travels.
I think the showers in Housekeeping Camp are open to everyone, not only to those who stay there. At least they were in 2019 when I finished my northbound JMT thruhike in Yosemite Valley.
Wow. This is a super informative video. I can't imagine going to Yosemite and not being able to get to Glacier Point by vehicle. Thanks for all you do in keeping us informed!!!
Based on your video, I would say it’s the right time to visit Yosemite National Park! Thank You YNP for reducing and limiting the numbers who come into the park, making a our reservation and visit even better! Yes, it may take a little planning now, but who expects to jump in a car and travel anywhere without some planning.
Thank you, and am glad my reservation is for next year! It sounds as if they are trying to hold back the number of cars in the park, and I hope that works. I remember walking through a meadow and seeing NY style traffic on the road. I go by public transport (the Amtrak train and bus). You don't have the freedom of a car, but there are ways to get where you would like to go in the park. Yosemite is not just a place where you take good pictures to show you were there; it's a place to recapture your soul. Treat it well.
Great video! We had already booked and this will be our first time going to Yosemite. This information was really great and because of this video, I was able to reserve a park pass for the week of the 26th of Spetemeber. So almost out of the window but not quite! Greatly appreciated!
Thanks for all this info! We are retiring this April and our first extended RV trip was to go to Yosemite. After watching your video it seems we need to make other plans this year and try again in the future. The USA has so much to see I'm sure we can find other beautiful places to head to. Love your videos and helpful info!
I'm a california native and have been visiting yosemite since 91. Year after year they change the procedures and make it more difficult to stay there. That being said, I just jump in the river to freshen up lol. I also only ever used a tent.
Thanks for the info. Going beginning of April. Staying at Yosemite Lodge. Glacier point is a disappointment. Luckily Ive been there a couple of times. My mission is to tackle Yosemite falls this year. Should be flowing nice in April. Thank you again for all your informative videos !
We love the LOLOHO free style of camping but this year looks to be back to the Excel spreadsheet. We’re gonna head towards Glacier and Gros Ventre and parts south after Labor Day. 2022 will be challenging with fuel costs and availability. Still gonna hang loose in the LOLOHO spirit 🤙🤙
Hi guys.. thank you so much for this video. We are going to Yosemite this June (2022). We're coming from the UK and without this information would have been completely at a disadvantage. You've got yourself a new subscriber and I will let all my followers know about you too. Once again thank you both so much :)
Thanks for the info. My wife and I took a twentieth anniversary trip out West to visit national parks in early July of 2017. Yosemite was the westernmost park we visited and entered on the eastern side. The day we arrived at the park, there was no attendant at the gate and we didn’t have to pay a fee to get in. We arrived late in the afternoon and had to drive all the way through the park to one of the West exits since we had a hotel reservation outside the park. The traffic leaving the park at night was very heavy and by that time, I was so tired I was bowlegged, as they say. The next day we reentered the park and saw several waterfalls but there were many international visitors there and finding parking spaces was a challenge. We didn’t plan ahead. Never go at peak season. Despite my being grumpy from lack of sleep, crowds and heat, the experience was still wonderful because the scenery was breathtaking. Highly recommended! 👍🏻
I went to Yosemite last week, and I hiked on 4 mile trek, but the trail to the Glacier Point was closed off, for your information. It was cloudy at the top of the mountain, so even if I got to the Glacier point I was not be able to see anything up there.
So - went to Yosemite during President's Day Weekend 2022 - tried to catch the firefall on that Friday and it was a fail because it was dry! Then came back the following morning to enjoy the valley - we stayed in Mariposa County nearby to be able to get there early -- that was also a fail! Came around 10am - waited an hour to get in because there were no reservations to get in during February... but then once we go into the valley, we were looking for parking for 2 hours!! SOOOOOO CRAZY!! Got camping spots with some family at Hodgson campgrounds for the weekdays and it was crazy how quick spots were gone ((sad face)) -- the hype is soooo crazy! Hoping that my visit to Lassen will be less insane!
Definitely get up early and drive in early, the early wake up is worth not waiting in line. If you want to explore some areas of Yosemite that aren’t overly crowded check out the southern Yosemite area like Mariposa Grove, Wawona, Chilnualna Falls and Swinging Bridge. If you want to see the waterfalls this year I would go early because 2022 has been dry so far.
Yes, you pronounced it correctly, no, not you Sean, Kristy! I live an hour north of Yosemite and have been visiting it since I was 10 years old. We're all hoping that the Tuolumne Meadows renovations will make it a lot more RV friendly. Yosemite has some of the most amazing hikes of all the National Parks. My icon photo shows me on the summit of Mt. Clark (Yosemite) in an earlier life!
I have an idea for a video. RVing in Alabama! Give us a rundown of the top 5 (or 10, or 37) places to go in Alabama. If it's a hit then you have 48 other topics ready to go. I'm talking about campgrounds you like, state parks, COE, maybe you found a sweet boondocking spot in Talladega NF. The reason I suggest this is I'm starting a new job, so no vacation time for me this summer. I'm compiling a list of weekend destinations within 250 miles or so of Mobile. Thanks for all you do!
Good tips. If you hike Half Dome do use a harness and clip on- use two clips like a Y so one is always on the cable. They discourage it for whatever dumb reasons like slowing others down- don't listen to them. I was faster than everyone, with the clip. I am an in shape, great hiker. I clipped on- we both did. There are big people above your head who can fall back and knock you off the cable to your death. It's narrow with 2 way traffic. The very next day after we hiked it, a young lady died. She was in great shape, 29 YO. She had a harness but was not clipped on to the cable at the moment that it started to rain. She slipped. R.I.P. Danielle, 9.2019.
Love the Griswold's! thanks. Good info for all of us travelers. A permit to climb Half Dome? those are the climbing gods or soon to be immortals. You guys are so good for us. thanks again.
If these registrations require a vehicle plate number people renting cars are screwed. I can't imagine all the international visitors coming to see the park will know of these changes. Oh dear. Glad I have no plans to go there, this would be upsetting. Thank you for the information, great job!
I am 80 years old and have never been to Yosemite N.P. or to Yellowstone or Grand Canyon or any of those places because of all these crowds and camotion and complication . More people now than ever before so will have to count on film or video to see these places. Glad you all got to see it though. You did a fine job explaining all that too !
I'm 75 and understand your being averse to crowds and complications. If you go to Yosemite in the fall or winter (if you don't mind the cold), you will have neither. And you will be seeing one of the most beautiful places on earth.
I used to live in southern California during my early teenage years and I have visited Yosemite, among Others, many times when it wasn't so crowded. Now its seriously over populated. For those who really want to see this great park I think this has been some really great advise and and much needed info as this expanded knowledge wasn't available way back when...late 70's and early 80's... Appreciate the work Sean and Kristy! You have taken the difficulty out of the research with Charm.
Life repeats is self i guess, I say that because I’m 19 and I just bought a new Prius and want to take me and some friends to explore the great outdoors and we live in souther California as well. Hopefully it all goes good this month and maybe we go to to other places like Zion and yellowstone
"Two wall a mee" is how it should sound! Lol I am glad our family got to hike and camp all over Yosemite in the 60's and 70's! Now it is a complete nightmare during the summer season. Haven't been back in many years unfortunately.
Hey guys thank you so much for the informative and fun videos!I think Kristy is right on with the pronouceation,I grew up not far from there. I just happen to be planning a trip in July to show my wife my old stomping grounds and was planning a visit to the park, so your timing could not be better for releasing this very informative video 👍. THANKS AGAIN LO LO HO !!!
We have gone randomly throughout the years being nearby so we typically know what to expect and plan trips to the valley itself carefully. This past time was the beginning of November, and we figured we'd do a valley trip...WOW bad idea. Here we thought it would be calm and it looked like peak season! Towards nightfall, cars were gridlocked for hours trying to get out O.O I was actually scared wondering what it would be like during June/July even to get INTO the park let alone the valley sections.
It was announced that you will not need reservations to enter Yosemite for the 2023 season. Hopefully the Glacier Point Road will reopen to Visiters. I’m lucky with just a two hour drive from my house to the park.
Great video with a tons of information! Unfortunately, there will be a lot of upset people this year at Yosemite who do not research anything about their trip. We lived in the area several years ago and took advantage of seeing the park which is beautiful and definitely worth it. Thanks again for another great video.
Great video! Thank you for the information on Yosemite park. That’s good to know that you have to get a vehicle registration to go through at certain time of day. I heard it’s a great park. I wonder how crowded parks will be when gas prices go up to more than what they are now. Thank you again for this video. Hope you have a great rest of the week and have a great weekend. Safe travels.
Kristy, you said "Tuolumne" correct. The YART bus is a great way to see Yosemite. It's very hassle free with lots of pick-up/drop-off locations. There are great motels to choose from on their routes. Also, outside the eastern entrance to Yosemite (Tioga Pass, Hwy 120 East) there are lots of campgrounds. I enjoyed your video and will check out more of your others.
Hi friends! WOW! What a beautiful park! Although I will not be coming over to the US this year, I love to see even updates in the National Parks rules. I have a humorous question. Is it the ramdom (e) waterfall that has had an impact on the famous Half dome mountain;)? Being a neighbor of Russia in these times has its side effects in my humor.
I think we can thank Ken Burns on the excellent films he has produced for the massive crowds. I've never been there but want to. "They" say, Yosemite is being loved to death. Give us a National Park Video that's not as popular but as beautiful. Thanks Guys!
We were planning on visiting for the 1st time ever. We are coming from NYS for several weeks. Thanks for the information. We will have to think hard about this NP and whether it is worth driving from Utah or not.
I'm going 1st week of May. Just a day trip, pit stop on a road trip. Been here before. Just wanna spend time in the valley and breathe in the fresh air. I'll be good right? Happy I'm not dealing with all the headaches.
I went there for my first time this year and all these things had no bearing on me having one of the greatest experiences of my entire life. Maybe you guys have just been there a million times and are just spoiled!!! haha which is not a bad thing!!!!!!!!!!!! But I had a life changing experience there and I got lost and ended up walking 25 miles with 50 lbs in a backpack. One of the best experiences of my life!!!!
Thanks, Baby Girl is doing fine. However, she does have a small abscess on her paw and she is going in to see the vet tomorrow! I think it just needs a touch of antibiotic and she will be good to go. Not to worry, we will make sure that she is on soon!
I didn't have plans to visit Yosemite. I will for sure not be going now. I live close to Yellowstone and had a cabin 30 minutes from West Yellowstone for years, Sounds like that is where I will be going, I know they have some changes, nothing that will effect me that much.
We probably all have our story about thwarted experiences. My dad was a hard working man. He didn’t have time or extra money to take me to extravagant places or events. But one time, when I was about 10 years old, the Harlem Globetrotters were scheduled to be in Kansas City, about 40 miles from my home. I REALLY wanted to see them …. we’re talking Meadowlark Lemon, Curly Neal… the Globetrotters in their heyday!! Totally uncharacteristic, and spur of the moment, my dad suddenly decided that day he was taking me. It was an evening event. By the time it was time to leave, a winter storm had moved in. Undeterred, my dad took me anyway. It was a blizzard!! We couldn’t have been driving much more than 30 miles an hour, if that. It seemingly took forever to get there ….. but we did!! We went inside and got in a lengthy ticket line. We waited in that line, and I was so excited that I was going to see THE Harlem Globetrotters!! We inched our way toward the front of the line. Suddenly, when we were about 10 people back ….. the curtain on the box office was quickly pulled shut …. SOLD OUT!! What a disappointment!! Still, even at the age of 10, I knew the effort my dad had gone to, so that was victory in itself. And, hey, a 10 year old kid doesn’t get to drive long distance in a blizzard everyday … in an old 1965 Plymouth Fury III, no less!! Bravo, Dad, bravo!! A memory that lasts forever!!
As always your info is much appreciated! It helped me to justify in my "lack of" mind, our decision to wait until next year. I just hope that next year things are better.
Wow. Post pandemic life for you. I remember in the 90’s just being able to go visit at any time. I think we had to pay foe parking, but I don’t remember anymore. That was a long time ago.
First time I saw YNP I went camping there with my dearly departed aunt and uncle when i was a small child. WILD DEER CAME RIGHT ItNto OUR CAMPSITE AND THUS STARTED MY LIFELONG LOVE OF NATURE AND WILD CRITTERES!i LOVE IT STILL! nICK IN bc--come to beautiful supernatural BRITIS COLUMBIA LONG HONEYMOONERS!
Love your hair Kristy! We went June 2020 - it was beautiful - We had to get a reservation, it was crowded, narrow roads and vast but only cost us $2 as we had a lifetime Sr. Pass. We spent two days there - a reservation was good for 7 days when we were there. We came in on/left from Tioga Pass road off 395 and then it was on to Tahoe! Love your channel.
Dang! I have already planned my 1st trip to Sequoia, King’s Canyon and Yosemite for September. I thankfully have reservations in the parks so won’t need to worry about the entry ticket but am disappointed about Glacier Point Road, Good to know in advance though…kind of lessens the blow! Thanks for the heads up!
Well…that’s a lot of information to process! Great work on the video. It was a nice touch to see Kristy’s color coordination with the lava lamp and 🦩. We just got back east March 1st after winter in AZ and The California Pacific Coast Highway. Glad we waited on Yosemite.
This will be our first time in Yosemite, my son's first time in California, and our first time in California this century. Ha! But this is when we needed to go, for college tours, so we will just see what we can see! If he decides to go to school in CA, we will be back!!
Sounds like a good summer to hike "up" to Glacier Point from the valley and enjoy the spectacular views crowd free!!
You’re 90+‼️ Congratulations! 👍🏼
Yeah I remember doing that in the 60s. Lots of bears.
As a SF, CA native, I second the Ray Sprague pronunciation guide. It's generally pronounced something like "two, wall, uh, me"
Pretty close - but you must include the n: "too wall am ne." Ranger Don, hiking Yosemite for 62 years.
Was in Yosemite last weekend. Had a wonderful day with my lovely wife.
1. You need to reserve tickets in advance to enter the park with a vehicle during most hours (with exceptions depending on other permits or reservations within the park)
2. A lot of campgrounds are closed for renovations.
3. Showers are only available in a couple of areas, public laundry facilities are closed.
4. Modified shuttle schedules / availability
5. Lots of stuff requiring advanced planning, no “first come first serve” campgrounds.
6. Glacier Point Road closed for renovations (important) - only way to get to Half Dome overlook unless you can hike the whole way up (hiking trails still open), no bus open on that road either
7. Bridal veil fall and parking closed
Do you know if its open get to Taft Point and sentinel hike? parking in taft point traihead?
im going in september
@@Alvaromtz I’m wondering this too was supposed to get engaged there in two days and just found out :(
@@Travelingwithme7788 Glacier Point Road isn't opened at all this year as it is closed for repavement.
Thanks Paul, we will definitely check out that hike the next time we are there!
If your into backpacking stay two nights at glen Aulin, and day hike down canyon to see 4 more of the best waterfalls in the world. LeConte falls is my favorite of any waterfall.
Stayed there last May in our Airstream. What a beautiful place... once you get through the two hour traffic jam just to get in. Truly worth it!
Thanks Chris! More on the way!
Go to Yosemite this year. Took me one evening to figure out the reservations and book my stay. If you really want to see the view from glacier point you can hike to the top.
Wawona campground is also closed until the waste water system is back online, which has no scheduled completion.
Thanks for the great info as always looks like something to put on the bucket list for 2023
Wow, thanks for all the research for this.
YoLoHo🤟
Oh thank you! Congrats on your first rig! Yes, Yosemite is the favorite of many -- truly gorgeous park!
As someone with a 5 day reservation in July, I hope this system cuts down on the traffic in the valley. Place can look like Disneyland in the summer.
Oakhurst and Mariposa both have campgrounds and are within 45 minutes from the park.
I was there back in 2017 and loved it... Cant wait to be back!!!
It may not be too crowded when gas hits $7.00/gal
What a difference a year makes... ;-)
At Furnace Creek in Death Valley, the price of regular gas is presently $8.75 per gallon. People still come.
@@tenkaraintheiowadriftless that's the place we paid the most ever. It was $5.49 in 2012.
In death Valley now, gas is $8.45/gal
LGB
Planning to visit this June
for my birthday...
thanks for this info!
💖
I love the
NAME OF YOUR
CHANNEL!
Get smart visit off season. It is about control this travel limitation method is coming to a city near you!
Thank you so much for the information and keep camping. Love to follow your adventures.
Great video! We had already booked and this will be our first time going to Yosemite. This information was really great and because of this video, I was able to reserve a park pass for the week of the 26th of Spetemeber. So almost out of the window but not quite! Greatly appreciated!
Good thing that park wasn't on my radar! Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for all this info! We are retiring this April and our first extended RV trip was to go to Yosemite. After watching your video it seems we need to make other plans this year and try again in the future. The USA has so much to see I'm sure we can find other beautiful places to head to. Love your videos and helpful info!
Kristy did say Tuolumne right with a southern twang, but it was right.
This was required last year and it was awesome! And getting up early is always the best time to arrive!
Thanks for sharing! Never been there .... and not sure when that will happen but it looks so beautiful ❤
Twahluhmne is correct for Tuolomne. I worked and lived in Yosemite 4yrs back in the 1980s. Wonderful people and experiences.
Thanks for the info, We are visiting for the first time this summer. If we don;t make it in, we are also visiting our son and grandkids there as well.
You guys are so good, I look forward to your videos each week. A week without LLHO is a week without sunshine...thank you. :)
Thank you Francis!!!!
I had a reservation for white wolf lodge and they also closed that one. My reservation was cancelled 2 months before I was supposed to visit
Yosemite has had to do something to control this for a very long time. The traffic is absolutely insane! Hopefully this will help.
I have a feeling that $10 a gallon gasoline may solve this problem soon. Unfortunately. Of course I hope I am wrong.
@@LongLongHoneymoon 😂
Glad to here the park is being proactive if there are commuters just cutting through.
Lilac is definitely your color Christy! Thanks for the info
Thank you so much for letting us know about the car pass!!! My girlfriend and I are going in June and had no idea, got our tickets!!!
I did remove from our trip because of your advice and the extra miles it added on to our trip from Albany NY.
Great information, guys! I hope Baby Girl is doing well. Miss seeing her. 🐕🙂
Thanks, Baby Girl is doing fine. However, she does have a small abscess on her paw and she is going in to see the vet tomorrow! I think it just needs a touch of antibiotic and she will be good to go. Not to worry, we will make sure that she is on soon!
@@LongLongHoneymoon 🙂👍🤗
I am so very sad...iv yet to make it there n probably won't now. Health derailed me last year n still stuck in Wa fighting to get well.
Thanks for the information. We had talked about going, maybe another year.
Wow. Post pandemic life for you. I remember in the 90’s just being able to go visit at any time. I think we had to pay foe parking, but I don’t remember anymore. That was a long time ago.
Those who know, know. We will always look fondly back on pre-pandemic America.
Great summary. I won’t visit until the Fall if ever.
First time I saw YNP I went camping there with my dearly departed aunt and uncle when i was a small child. WILD DEER CAME RIGHT ItNto OUR CAMPSITE AND THUS STARTED MY LIFELONG LOVE OF NATURE AND WILD CRITTERES!i LOVE IT STILL! nICK IN bc--come to
beautiful supernatural BRITIS COLUMBIA LONG HONEYMOONERS!
Thanks for the public service announcement!
But we are going to see amazing waterfalls! And hope to have a quiet midweek April visit to Mariposa Grove!
Thank you so much for the information. Ya'll are so amazing the way you share important information.
Thank you Rick!
7:07 Tuolumne Meadows - You pronounced it correctly!
